It's the news of the moment. The game Manhunt 2 has been given a 18 certificate, and allowed for release. It's been an argument that has caught the attention of the mainstream media, and split people in whether or not it should be released.
Well, I think the answer is that it probably shouldn't have been released, but there are good things to be gained from it. Okay, so it is kinda strange to really want to play a game which essentially involves killing people in ever more inventive ways, but if you think about it, it is much better for someone to kill a person with a hammer in a video game, than to go out and do it in real life. Okay so there are those who play games like this and go out and think it would be fun to do said acts, but it's been shown that these people are already mentally unstable, so the game isn't directly to blame.
Personally, I'm not particularly interested in Manhunt 2, I'm not into this kind of game. But the ironic thing is that because of the controversy, Manhunt 2 will have many more sales because people want to play "the game so violent it got banned by the BBFC".
Maybe Rockstar had always planned this. Maybe they have friends in high places... ![]()
Just a thought...
