Before I begin please allow me time to put on my flame proof suit because I'm probably about to commit some sort of gamer sin here and I feel like I should be prepared.
Ok... ready?
Gears of War 2 was awful. Not just awful but ****ing atrocious.
I couldn't stand it any longer so I went and exchanged it for Resident Evil 5. I just couldn't take anymore.
I wish I could put into words how bad I thought this game was.
It was so bad that I would need to create new adjectives just to scratch the surface of my disdain.
Hopefully, RE5 will be a much better game. If not then I might just give up and get a PS3... damn I want to play Uncharted 2 and Infamous SO bad.
Have any of you ever played a game that everyone else loved and you just couldn't stomach?
Hope you're doing well.
Take care and happy gaming.

I've thought about it for a while and I can't quite pin it down to one specific item but here's a short list.
1. The Story - I don't know enough about these characters to care about them. Seriously, we're looking for one of the squad's wives? Boring.
2. The controls - The aspects that were added that weren't in the first game were terrible. The driving controls and all the twitch game play moments in a game that's supposed to be about cover and patience.
3. The controls - The duck/dive animations are all the same and you can really only do them in 90 degree increments relative to your body. There were plenty of time when I was trying to take cover and i would end up rolling all over the place.
I actually enjoyed Gears 1 and thought the second one would be a lot better... but boy, I was wrong.
My friend takes the cake. He likes Master of Orion 3. (P.U.)

I would have to agree with you on JRPGs, at least the blockbuster ones. I like precisely 2 JRPG franchises (unless you're counting Pokemon), Golden Sun and Fire Emblem, and both of them are for handhelds. Maybe that's where that genre belongs.
Did you ever read my review of KillZone 2? Talk about a game that EVERYBODY loved, and I hated. WOW..
I actually did read it and it was one of the main things that made me go out and write this little blurb.

Don't even get me started on Bioshock.
Perhaps "twitch" might not be the right word. Let me see if I can elaborate... like you, I liked the first one but I'm sure one of the knocks against was that most of the levels were exactly the same. I liked the slower, take cover and pick your shots process of the first game.
In the second one it seemed like all these moments that were thrown in there just to switch it up... the level riding the people mover, the boat level etc. The part at the end of the boat level where the monster swallows you and you have to quickly shoot all the glowing tenticles just seemed like they were thrown in to switch things up and I felt like they took away from the things that made the first game great.

I'm with you on this one bro
