GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con
Thursday, Oct 4, 2007

Lately, for some strange reason, I've been losing touch with what I like the most: video games. News about it, even the Smash Bros. Dojo updates, don't excite me like it once did. I care less about Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Brawl, and the other games I once was excited about. Even playing games is starting to be a bore.

Except for one series....

Many who know me knows I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan. As the news about the other games seem to dissapoint me, I cannot help but feel a resounding joy when I hear something about Kingdom Hearts.

But, why Kingdom Hearts?

I'm not sure why, but, when I was leader of The Shy Guy Kingdom, something swelled up my love for Kingdom Hearts games more than my obsession for Shy Guys. I remember like it was yesterday when everything but Shy Guys escaped my mind, as I raced around GameSpot to gather four friends to be charters for the SGK. But now I'm racing around GameSpot, searching for one friend to help me accomplish my mission to open The Organization of XIII Keyblades (which, I'm still looking for the lucky one ).

But, I digress. What I'm trying to say is that I have a greater appreciation of Kingdom Hearts now than I ever did, even moreso than my other favorites, such as Halo, Mario, and Smash Bros.

I ask the question again: Why Kingdom Hearts? Why does it resonate more than the others?

I think the answer is that it was one of the first video games I ever played. The first one I could enjoy myself, and feel a sense of happiness and joy when I saw the end credits and the secret movie, a senseone that I'll never forget.

Maybe that's why I felt like crying in a previous blog (read 'Beyond the Controller' if you want to know).

And maybe, just maybe, I can live long enough to tell my grandchildren about it , and then hear them say 'Grandpa you were ****ed up when you were young.'

And you know what? I'd be alright with that statement.

Again, please don't flame me. Of course, you guys are friends, so why would you?

And, again, this is just to shpw people like Jack Thompson that not all video games are bad, that they can teach us many things. But, then again, this is another nerd's geeky blog post. But I'm all right with that statement, too.

yeah... I noticed you were acting different. I know how you feel. I didn't lose my love of a certain game, but I no longer like as many Nintendo related games, while my love of sonic games is skyrocketing! I still love shy guys and some Nintendo games, but other than that...

LR1: Thanks man. I agree with your thinking of Kingdom Hearts being one of the greatest games in history. I believe it should be creditied that for combining two worlds while integrating its own story with many others. About the union, it wouldv'e been up and running, but eliteguard was under the '30-day' rule. No hard feelings, elite!
haga: same here. thnx

eliteguard: Uh, when I got 4 members together, I typed your name in the box-thingy and hit 'Proceed to Step 3', and then it said 'eliteguard is inelegible because she has become officer in the past 30 days' My bad, I probably shouldv'e PM'd you what it said
