I understand where the writer's are coming from. It only makes sense to want to renegotiate their contract. Who would have thought that people would be buying box sets of I Love Lucy or the last season of whatever. Now downloads and dvds can make or break a show.

I think the networks would be insane to hire scab writers. What would happen to shows that have vast overarching plots? Like Heroes? New shows could flounder and die!
