GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con
Thursday, Nov 5, 2009

So Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is almost here, and it has garnered a lot of hype and anticipation. The videos and the previews have been great, and after the wonderful work of art that was Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward simply can't go wrong with this one. What score do you think Modern Warfare 2 will get?

IMO, this game will get a 9.5 on Gamespot, a 9.7/9.8 on IGN, and a 94-96% score on Metacritic. What do you think?

I'll put it in the low 9's. Probably between a 9.1 and 9.3 - but this is mainly because I'm not sure how "ground-breaking" it will be. It will have a huge bill to live up to when compared back to CoD4:MW and I think these expectations are setting it up for failure when all is considered. And by failure, I mean it getting a lower score than the original... and disappointed critics

with the hype a 9 or higher personally I believe it to be less than a 7 because its the same damn game since the 2nd one infinity ward has done nothing with the series but change its name, added faster weapons and a new coat of paint

9 nothing more, nothing less. Only because there's nothing innovative or revolutionary added to the series except a rehash of maps, guns and perks with a brief, excellent if forgettable single player.

9.0 on Gamespot for me. CoD4 got a 9 here, and seeing as this is a sequel and Gamespot rates games also on the level of innovation in the second installment, I don't think Modern Warfare 2 will reach one of the 9.5 games this year (the number of which has exploded recently, I don't get it). The reason CoD4 reached such a legendary status around the world is for the multiplayer. I don't see how much improvements can be made in that area. It will undoubtedly be good, it's impossible otherwise, but they would seriously have to innovate to keep the experience fresh. I really hope they improve the single-player. That would definitely drive me to buy the game. If the single-player stays the same...I might not even buy the game.

8.5 or 9.0 because there's not much new stuff on MW2, other than new additions to multiplayer and such.

9.5 on the sites that got paid for advertising. 8.0 from everyone else. Oh yeah, I went there.

I know that the game will get a great score, however, I feel that once you played one CoD, you played them all. I find them to be pretty repettative. But thats only my opinion.

Either 9's or 9.5 for a lot of people.

Gamespot gave odst a 9 and World at War a good score too, so I'm gonna assume for them, as long as the title of the game has "call of duty" in it, it won't matter how good or bad it is.

9 probably
