I'm here to write about the awesomeness that is Plants vs. Zombies.

I've been meaning to try this game ever since it came out, but since I put in double-digit hours a day sitting in front of a computer for work, I like to turn the PC off when I come home. This has hurt my PC gaming as I haven't really done much at all this year.

I decided to get PvZ the other night to pass the time between the 13th, which is when Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend come out. I saw it for $10 on Steam, so I went ahead and picked it up. Much to my surprise, I'm not sure I have liked another game better this year than Plants vs. Zombies.

The game is a blast, probably the most addicting game I've played since WoW. It's one of those where you feel like you've been playing for 20 minutes, but all of a sudden you look up and two hours have vanished.

It's simple for anyone to pick up and play as it's a mouse-only game. Zombies are invading your home, and the only defense you have are the killer plants you place in your garden. Pick and choose wisely as your choice of plants will determine your success against various breeds of zombie.

The game is very very fun and also hilarious. It will have you laughing out loud more than once.

I'm not sure how much longevity it will have; the campaign is short and pretty easy, I thought. That and the average graphics might be the game's main drawbacks. There are a BUNCH of mini-games and stuff though, plus survival mode, where you can put your skills to the test. I don't know if I'll still be playing it two weeks from now, but I know I'll be playing it until the 13th at least. For $10, that's good enough.

I've already got my money's worth. Download Steam and give this one a try. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to playing.

I love when I get immersed in a game and don't notice the time. I tracked this game before it came out and thought it looked interesting. It is supposed to come out on the the 360 so I was waiting to get it but I might jus have to try it out on the PC.

@MJoanne: I didn't know that, I might have to buy it for 360 too then I think it would be hard to make it quite as good without a mouse as this is definitely a point-n-clicker, but it should still be fun nonetheless.

Using killer plants to stop the undead, now that's a bizarre premise and it does sound like a whole lot of fun. At only $10, all the more reason to get the game.

@david_lck: It is very fun and I think it's cool that they weren't afraid to make a game based on such a weird premise. I'm mowing through it pretty fast since 95% of it is pretty easy, so I think that I'll be done with all the content this week, even though there's still unlimited modes. But it is money well spent for sure

I looked at this in a local game store just yesterday. Been tempted ever since it was first announced.

@AzelKosMos: I'd say to pick it up unless you hate stuff like RTS/Tower Defense games. Even if you do though I feel as if it's hard not to have at least a little fun with this game while it lasts. I do wish there was multiplayer; head-to-head PvZ would be so great.

I love Tower defense games. I may well give it a look.

@AzelKosMos: Cool -- if you are experienced with that genre you might plow through PvZ story mode without even dying (this was only my second or third tower defense game but I only died once, and that was on a stupid mistake), but there's enough stuff in the overall package that I think you'll like it. Actually you should die at least once on purpose just to see the game over screen
