Today I bought a new couch. I know, exciting right?? Normally I would have researched and shopped around all of that but last night just as I was settling down to watch Greys Anatomy it collapsed. I know what your picturing and let me tell you, it was just like that. I had my drink in one hand and I sat down on my favourite spot and it basically disentigrated under me. I felt like an idiot, thank goodness no one was around to see it. I had to spend the rest of the night sitting on the cusdions on the floor. And if that wasn't enough I had to carry the sad remains down to the dumpster, 5 floors, alone. To most people this wouldn't be any kind of deal at all, but this couch was very special to me. When my parents were first married 30 years ago they didn't have much money and so when a furniture store downtown caught fire my mom went down and bought this couch which was one of the only things salvaged from the store. She cleaned it herself and proceded to use it everyday for about 20 years. When she got a replacement I inherrited it and honestly it was the best thing ever. The perfect combination of comfy and supportive. Plus it has these crazy retro zig zags and red velour accent pillows which sounds super tacky but wasn't. I honestly got depressed trying to pick out a new one, and so I just bought a boring beige sofa. It works just like it supposed to but it just doesn't make me happy like the old one did. I guess I just have to wait for a furniture store fire.

I'm sorry that you had to get a new couch. and it just broke down especially during grey's anatomy... I understand what your going through when something is so sentimental that a family member has given you and you had it for years just breaks. it sucks. but hopefully this couch will bring new memories.
