Haven't posted anything here in months, though I've checked in regularly, just didn't have anything to write about. At this point we're almost into September and the next TV season. Last year I was all fired up about Moonlight starting - a new vampire show! And it didn't disappoint - at least not to me. There were opportunities to improve, but the cast and stories and intrigues were really coming together, until the strike messed everything up and then CBS decided to pull the plug. Still can't believe that one, when it was all positives from them up till they gave it the ax. That just took the heart out of me - not only Moonlight, but New Amsterdam gone too, And Blood Ties, as well as others. These genre shows just have a really tough time catching on and it can be really frustrating for those of us who love them.

This summer I started back in with The Closer and Eureka, sad that 4400 isn't with us this year. I've also discovered the Middleman, which has been a realy hoot. And a couple of weeks ago BBC America started in with Primeval, which I've really enjoyed so far. Not bad summer fare at all, but now its time for the new "regular" season to get ready to kick off, and I can't tell you one show that I'm really looking forward to getting to know. There are a number of returning shows I'll probably still watch (love my crime procedurals). I'll check out True Blood, because its of that genre - but some of the advance word hasn't been too encouraging. I read the first book and it was ok, but I didn't get any of the rest of them. I guess I'll wait and see if the TV show catches me up in the stories. Maybe it'll surprise me and I will really enjoy it. I'll keep open mind and see what happens - maybe something wonderful will sneak its way into our hearts and fill some of the space that Moonlight left behind.

Here's to a new season everyone - and hope that a gem will reveal itself to us!

Ok, at the risk of raising the ire of all Moonlight fanatics (and I'm proud to be considered one), there's a new show out there I'd recommend people check out: New Amsterdam. The pilot was ok, but the second episode for me added some depth and more of a connection with the lead - John Amsterdam. He has lived for 400 years, and though (like Mick) he's not very happy with this situation, he's had more time to come to terms with it and has forged some fascinating relationships and connections along the way. He does have a way out of this immortality and has not given up hope that he'll find that right person. He has a snarky sense of humor, not unlike Josef in some respects, and has a love of animals - specifically dogs, and keeps numbering them (he's on 36 right now). There are also some interesting crime cases to resolve, and we're learning more and more about his past in NYC as well as the loves and losses he's faced.

The third episode is on tomorrow night (Monday) and since we are in the middle of a horrendous Moonlight drought - try catching up with the first two episodes online and giving this show a chance. You might just find something to ease the pain of Moonlight's absence.

Ok, we've received the wonderful news that Moonlight will get four new episodes this season, starting in April! Terrific news after this awful strike/concert/TPIR drought! But, at the same time we don't see Moonight's name on the list of shows being renewed for next season. Lousy news, but doesn't mean the game is over yet. Not by a long shot people!

That just means we have to work hard to do everything we can to boost the views for the new episodes in April! We've been talking on some of the threads about ways to go about this, and I think this is great we have some dedicated people and terrific ideas going. You know what's even better though? Different sites and forums are working together to get this show renewed - forget about any rivalties, negativity, anything that doesn't contribute to the renewal of this great show. That's solidarity everyone!

So if each of us does what we can, onine, by mail, email, phone, and any of the new ideas we may come up with - we CAN get this done!! Fan solidarity everyone : for MOONLIGHT - Season 2!!

Some people just don't have opinions. Like kathync.
kathync must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could kathync possibly have for not rating a single film?
