This is my favorite time of year. In places other than where I live the seasons are starting to change with the leaves turning colors, some small amounts of snow in some parts of the North, and the start of what most consider the holiday season. Fall brings us Pavarana Day, Columbus Day, Halloween, Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, moving into Christmas, Hanukkah, Al Hijra, and the New Year depending on your faith.

The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. Where I live we don't really get a Winter but then again we get an explosion of the night sky where you can see the Milky Way, as well as even the dimmest of stars. The air turns crisp but still with a hint of warmth. Cold enough to be able to enjoy the fireplace, but warm enough to still go outside at times without a jacket. Living in the desert we still see people burning bonfires where in most areas that is outlawed as bad for the air and the environment.

Even as Fall is upon us the temperatures still hover around the mid-80's to mid-90's (20-30's Celcius) in the middle of the day. As short as a week ago we hit 107 even after the Autumnal Equinox.

My Dodgers are in the Major League playoffs and won their first game in the best of five series with the Cardinals. Despite having the best overall record in the National League, the lowest Earned Run Average of any pitching staff, the best run production versus other clubs, the best overall hitting for Average, and one of the best defensive teams in the league, they are still the underdogs? Sort of humorous.

The NFL season is underway and I am a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Like the Dodgers I have been a fan since the late sixties of both these teams. The Eagles are a better balanced team this year and have a shot at going to the playoffs. I was disappointed though when they signed Michael Vick as I am a big animal rights person.

On TV.com I just hit level 25 yesterday. It took me about eight months. It does seem harder to level as the points get skimpier. I'm finally going back to work so that the leveling will be a little slower in the future.

I have weeded out a few shows and I'm sure I'll be losing more as time goes on to cancellation. I stopped watching The Vampire Diaries, and FlashForward. I have enjoyed the forgotten, Eastwick, Dollhouse, Mercy, Trauma, and Three Rivers, but unfortunately we'll see some of these get pulled by November or December. Any bets to who goes first? For those of you worried about Castle, I wouldn't. The show is hanging in there and keeps on pulling low 18-49 numbers, but around 9 million viewers which is going to be hard for ABC to replace. The good news with a few of the NBC shows maybe going out early Chuck may come back sooner. One can always hope!

Believe it or not I miss the summer. This time of year besides the new shows I really watch Supernatural, Bones, Sanctuary, and Two and a Half Men. Everything else is gravy. Now that I have a Dual DVR I can wait to watch any other shows but those are the ones I watch first. Most of my favorite shows are on cable now. Burn Notice, True Blood, Leverage, Royal Pains, The Closer, In Plain Sight, L&O: Criminal Intent, and Warehouse 13 are being shown in weird Summer or Spring/Summer seasons.

Have a good week. Thanks for reading...

Jeffery

That must be cool to see all the stars out at night. It's gotten a lot cooler here. It's like 1-10*C. Congrats on level 25! I haven't stopped watching Vampire Diaries. I'm watching one more episode of it before I decide if I'll keep on watching or not. I hope you keep watching Dollhouse because it needs all the viewers it can get. I think you might stop watching either Trauma or Three Rivers. Those are the only shows that you watch that I don't watch

Vampire Diaries has just gotten better and better, I'm probably going to watch it till it ends. Your an Eagles fan, me too. I'm not a fan of the Dodgers, but I hope they win the series against the Cardinals because I think the Phillies can beat them. Congratz on level 25.

I didnt really start watching Vampire Diaries so I didnt have to stop. I only watched the pilot. I considered watching FlashForward but then decided against it because I have enough shows already. I stopped watching Dexter tho. The S4 premiere was as good as you would expect, and altho Dexter is fascinating, as a show and a character, I have happier things to watch. I would also stop watching Castle if it wasnt my bros fave crime drama, so he would still download it so I figure I might as well continue. And with only one epi in, Stargate Universe is still undecided.

Fall is a pretty awesome season, but the only reason I love it is because of TV It's actually kinda cool how TV makes me look forward to something with every season. It's also very geeky of me Congrats on leveling up!! It's been a while since I have leveled up, I should probably do more I really noticed the difference once I got over 20, I bet it will be even harder once we get over 30. 8 months is very fast to get to level 25, you should be proud I'm surprised, you are the first person I have heard of that stopped watching FlashForward. I still haven't gotten around to watching it I understand ditching Eastwick and Dollhouse (the only 2 shows of the ones you are considering ditching I have watchde). They aren't exactly mindblowingly awesome well Castle went up a little, while other shows were going down so I guess the future will be a little brighter for Castle in the future Besides there are other shows in more danger. I'd say that ABC is more likely to cancel the Forgotten than Castle and one would think they would like to keep at least one procedural. Wow you watch a lot of cable TV!! I barely have any, but I enjoy having a slow summer TV season in a way. I always discover so many awesome older shows

Hi Jon, I love Astronomy its very cool out here. I have been able to go out in the early morning and have seen a number of great meteor showers. Also comets, etc.. I think I was misunderstood. I'm not going to stop watching any of those shows. Those are the shows that might get canceled very soon though. So they'll be gone from the airwaves. The Vampire Diaries looks like it might be getting interesting from the promos. Thanks, Jeffery

Munch! Stealing. I think you are mistaken If I remember you are a little bit younger than me so if anything you are stealing from me. That game you reviewed last looks pretty cool by the way. Thanks, Jeffery Dodger Destiny!!!

Hi Katy, So from Philadelphia I assume! I grew up in upstate New York around Rochester/Buffalo. No one were Buffalo Bills fans then. My father liked the Browns. My older brother the Giants. So I went for the Eagles at about age ten. Been a fan now for forty plus years! No comment on the Phillies. Thanks for the congrats! Jeffery

Hi Clemontine, I'm actually bummed you didn't lie SG:U but as we have discussed I understand why. I wonder what will happen if the hardcore SG watchers don't like it. I know what you mean by Dexter. I could never get into it for the same reason. I love Castle. Probably one of my current Top Ten. Thanks, Jeffery

Hi Daria, I agree about your Fall statement. I have enjoyed my time here. I love to write and it gives me an excuse to write about something I like which is always cool. Plus the people are interesting here. I think people misunderstood me. Those are not shows I am ditching. They are shows that are likely to get canceled. I actually love Eastwick of all the new programs. I like it almost as much as Castle! You're right on the the forgotten. I think ABC is having NBC like problems. Yup, cable shows are getting big here in the US. With the long vacation I had a chance to watch things I don't think I ever would have before. Thanks, Jeffery

i really love fall and i'm happy that we have four seasons here. right now it's way too warm though. one year ago it was snowing around this time (which was pretty unusual as well). i'm hoping for some realy nice snow again this winter. don't you miss the snow where you live? the way you describe the night sky sounds beautiful. where i live, we have a lot of light pollution and it's sometimes difficult to see the stars properly, much less even milky way ...

Well, the SG ppl said they want to appeal to a new audience, so I dont think they would care if it was a new crowd watching, as long as its a crowd. I watched all 3 seasons of Dexter over the summer and loved it, but now that the new season has started, I realized I didnt really have enough insentive to come back each week.

Hi Bea, Here we get crystal clear nights with a chill in the air. If you love to watch the stars it's a beautiful place. Very little light pollution. No snow ever. I have seen enough being from upstate New York for a lifetime. We use to get nine foot snowdrifts! I do miss a true Fall and Spring as we have Summer and then a cooling off period and a warming up period. Not much else. Jeffery

Clemontine, Personally I think that stinks! SG is SG and should represent it. I guess they did the same thing to a point with Star Trek and Enterprise which the real Trekkies didn't love, but there's no reason to do that on this franchise. It will be interesting to see the retention long term. I understand about Dexter. I felt that way about a number of shows over the years. Jeffery

This was an interesting blog entry. One thing that struck me was that you are a fan of opposite coasts. Its rare (in my experience) to find someone who has been a longtime fan of teams on opposite coasts. I agree with you re: Vick.
Thanks for sharing!

This was an interesting blog entry. I was struck by the fact that you are a fan of opposite coasts. Its rare (in my experience) for that to happen. (I agree with you re: Vick.) I, myself, have been a hardcore Bills fan since the days of Cribbs, Smerlas, and Ferguson, so I can't rightfully explain your Eagles fanship! *LOL* Thanks for sharing!

Hello NewfalQ, Thanks for commenting. I was born and raised till 12 in upstate New York and I have lived the rest of my life in Arizona, but have traveled extensively in the Americas. I have to say I don't enjoy Seinfeld either as you mention in your personal section. I think it was my New York background. Also I currently have one Burmese cat and have had as many as four at one time! Just in reference to your icon. Thanks, Jeffery

COngrats on the new level! I stopped watching VD, Forgotten, and all the new medical shows. I'm still hoping Eastwick hangs on for at least a full season. Chuck's likely to come back this year. Yay! Supernatural's been great, except for the House of Wax/P.Hilton episode. I wish to try Leverage when I can find the time. I really enjoyed Warehouse 13 and Royal Pains. They're really good for summer shows.

Hi Mack, I actually enjoyed the Paris Hilton episode as it reminded me of early episodes from season one and two. It was a nice break from the heavy duty episodes we've been having. Classic Sam and Dean! Thanks on the congrats! Yup, I think Chuck will be back sooner than later as well. Thanks, Jeffery

Yeah, I was surprised they thought the show needed an update when it was only a decade old, with 2 previous series. Star Trek was much older before they decided to update it. Its just the new fad. The most recent episode was more similar to the familiar SG formula, but it stil wasnt as good. A little bland. But if they work with this formula some more, there could be some really great episodes in the future.

Well, I'm so late that you probably won't even see this - but congrats to you and your Dodgers anyway! They rolled St. Louis and they should handle Philly - which puts them right on track to be cannon fodder for my Yankees in the World Series! I totally agree with you about the fab cable shows - especially Sanctuary, Burn Notice, Leverage, The Closer, and In Plain Sight (although I would add Psych and even Saving Grace). Don't burn out that Dual DVR, pardner!

Hi DBizTV, It's never too late! Actually I'm hoping for a Yankees/Dodgers World Series. Beating the Yankees would bring so much more pleasure. I do watch Psych but not Saving Grace. I'm going back to work full time after an extended vacation and I'll probably cut back on the shows overall so my DVR should survive. Thanks for commenting! Jeffery
