Okay, last time I talked about this subject, I was complaining about how people put their episode reviews into the show review section. Now, I wish to complain about people making really dumb sounding reviews that are structured so badly, they alone could scare people away from the show simply because of the kinds of crazy people the show attracts.
Here is an actual example of one of these reviews. (name withheld to protect the mentally inefficient)
Smallville
Rating: 10 (there's a shocker)
Review title: Is lex ever comming back?
Review: I wonder if lex ever comes back becaus it would have been very cool if he came back. i dont have more to say and i have too write 100 words but i am reviewing this show becaus it is a cool show but stupid too have too write 100 words. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 2 7 4 5 96 6 6 6 6 6 6 58 98 96 898 9 8 69 86 8 898 9 9898 89 98 98 98 98 98 89 89 8 89 86 86 9868 6 8 987
***End Review***
This is not going to attract anyone to the show. Heck, I like the show, but after reading a review like this, I almost wonder why I like it. Okay, maybe things aren't that bad, but it's still pretty bad.
Now I have to say, not only is this a horribly structured review, but it's a cl@ssic (darn html formatting issues) example of the blind 10 and or 0 rating. I can accept a 10 or 0 rating if there's an intelligent review behind it, but the instant or blind 10 or 0 rating left on shows that - for example - haven't even aired yet is insane.
Thank you, and good night.
First off, I don't know if you're all aware of the fact that Disney has bought Marvel, but if you weren't, now you are.
My thought was this, whenever the Marvel movies' contracts expire with whatever studio they're working with, that means that Disney has pretty much exclusive rights to the properties. Which would mean that there is nothing to stop Disney from making a live action X-Men Evolution movie.
Now that's not a horrible thing, but you might change your mind once I tell you who I figured would probably get the part of Rogue. Think you can guess?
If you guessed Miley Cyrus, congratulations, you have officially figured out what my personal version of comic movie hell would be. (that and the possibility of a movie version of One More Day *shudders*)
It's a well known fact that X-Men: The Last Stand is one of the worst comic book movies ever. (right up there with Batman & Robin) There could be several reasons for this, but I think it stems largely from the fact that so many characters either died or lost their powers, so naturally this is going to put a damper on any sequels they make, right? Not necessarily...
The way I see it, there are a few ways that a sequel could be made that might redeem the events of X3.
1: Retcon. One possibility is to take X3 out of continuity and make a new X3. The main problem with this approach is that it tends to confuse people as to which of the movies actually happened. (Movie that took this approach: Superman Returns)
2: Time Travel. This approach basically keeps X3 in the timeline, but someone goes into the past and messes with it so that various events in the series never took place. One problem with this approach is that time travel seems so contrived and it makes it seem like a cheap way out, but let's face it, that movie needs a way out, cheap or not. (Movie that took a similar approach: Star Trek)
3: Reboot. This may seem a little drastic when you consider that the first movie was fairly good, but it might be what the movie series needs. All you'd really have to do is keep the events of Origins canon (or not, depending on how much you want to change things), and just start over from X-Men: The Beginning. The main problem with this approach is that people from the previous version of a series rarely make it to the reboot, and Patrick Stewart is too good of a Professor X to lose, imo. (Some movies that took this approach: Batman Begins, The Incredible Hulk)
4: The Hybrid Approach. You could use time travel to completely erase the events of X3, or use time travel to reboot the series entirely (as opposed to just changing key events).
5: Contrived Explanation of how characters were resurrected or kept their powers. Self-explanatory, but a couple of downsides to this approach is that the 4th movie is going to spend half it's time cleaning up after it's predecessor and the fact that X3 still happened. (no movies that took this approach come to mind at the moment, but it's been done countless times in the comics)
6: Keep making prequel films. ![]()
What do you all think?
