Why is it the most spoiled of people get their thread, but for those of us who want to remain the total opposite are not allowed a thread to themselves?
Three separate threads have been made on the Supernatural forum tonight with the intention of being able to discuss the storyline so far, these threads were intended to NOT contain any spoilers and as there isn't another thread about this for this season I thought this would be ok. How wrong was I??
There are three of us tv.com members who have been modded tonight because of this, and as I see it this is total discrimination. There are threads with blatant hostility in the title, such as "Hater's of the blond girl unite!" and threads with titles which are actually spoilers like "POLL - Dean not being Bens father good or bad?". I am at a total loss to see how these threads have survived when one of them gives away a large part of a story, and the other is encouraging hatred to an individual!
This is the TOS I received:
You have been found to have violated the TV.com terms of service.
Reason for moderation: If you want to discuss something on the show, create a thread about that topic and discuss, thanks
Action Taken: Delete Msg - No points were lost for this moderation.
I wouldn't mind, but I did exactly what the TOS said and still got a violation for it! We wanted to discuss the story so far, so I created a thread about it, and I got modded. What a bunch of hypocrites, they take threads down for containing spoilers saying they should all be placed in the official Spoilers and Speculation thread, yet at the same time they allow a thread dedicated to pure spoilers!
Comments
besides the Evil thread there are other threads that as you say have spoilers in the titles themselves!
I'm sorry but I regard it as pure discrimination. To allow a thread called the Evil Thread and mod one called the Good Thread is just purely stupid surely!!
Mind you at the same time the amount i get ignored I might as well post what i like in any old thread! there are some threads on here that are utterly dominated by a small number of people who seem to do whatever the hell they like whilst a large section of us who helped to make this entire forum more popular in the first place are now not even allowed one thread! The moderation is petty and arbitrary - the disgusting things that were posted on the pics thread were allowed to pass uncensored and to be fair even 'the Rules' were allowed as well.
It's ridiculous that prejudiced opinions such as slagging off innocent female actresses are fine but oh heaven forbid you should want a place to discuss something with a bit of a sense of humour and a lack of desire to **** about the very thing you are supposed to be fan of, oh no that just wouldn't do!
if I made a thread called 'Death to all female characters by the way I hate supernatural anyways' it would probably surive no hassle!
If i get in trouble for this i will know that freedom of speech has truly died!!!
I agree with what your saying. It makes absolutely no sense, but I don't make the rules, so I don't know how to help you. But it really does suck. I got modded for something, but I can't remember what, and i didn't like it. That really sucks though.
Again nice to see you
I don't think it's fair either. Have you thought of resurecting the "For those of us left behind" thread? That thread was always left alone by the mods and I think it was pretty cool and well received (Lyca was really awesome in keeping track of where everyone was in the season and making sure it stayed spoiler free). Hell, I'll even track it down and bump it to the front page so that it can be put to good use. I want all the unspoiled people to have all the theorizing and speculating and fun that the spoiled among us do.
Looks like we've got a revolution on our hands.
I do think that now the new season has started people will find better things to talk about other than the boys looks and having their babies. I just hope we can all stay civil when we don't agree.
But i think Ciel is right I think we should be able to contact Gislef and say look this thread has just generally fallen apart help us re-establish it, then it wouldn't even be a case of naming names, it would be up to the moderator to chastise individuals or we could just remind people of the original purpose of the thread i guess
But one thing I do feel strongly about is the permittance of threads that actually contain spoilers in the title! I think that should be disallowed because you can't help but be confronted by it - and it's not even for the sake of us Brits or the Aussies or whoever - what if I was in America but happened to miss the show and was going to watch it another day but wanted to quickly speculate on the board before doing so? I would have no chance cause I would immediately see spoilers - I vaguely remember there used to be a policy forbidding that. There's no need to delete the whole thread - they should just change the title.
I hope you find a way to make your thread a go thread and keep having fun around here and I sure hope it can become a place where we all can get back on disagreeing civilly
About the "scrogneugneu" threads that pop up all the time and are so degrading (to the show, the actors, even to us serious fans) I did report a couple of them and had the pleasure to see them disappear rapidly after that... so count on me to keep that part of my fight up !!!
Although I'm totally spoiled and slighty... no let's not go there... I sure want to be part of a fandom and a board I can be proud of and I admit that has not been the case all the time lately... but running away from it is definitly not the way to make things better !!
Hope to see you guys/gals around more.
