Gaming has always been a big fraction of my life. Ever since I got my first game console, which was a Super Nintendo (SNES) at the age of four, I was hooked immediately and have been hooked as a hardcore gamer until recently. So, I have been thinking about what has been causing this decay of interest.

One of the biggest causes is that I have had a girlfriend for a few months now and she is not into games at all. At first this didn't really matter to me, but it soon came to me that I enjoyed spending time with her and my friends more than I did gaming. Also, my friends don't game as much as they used to and instead they hangout a lot and have fun most of the time. My point here is that I don't like to miss out on what some people say, "Good Times". This, in turn, brought me further away from gaming by me spending more time going out rather than staying at my house being a couch potato. Lastly, there hasn't been many great games that have come out since the end of December, but that is just my opinion.

All in all, it seems like my social life has really been interfering with my gaming and I'm not really sure if I'll be able to fix it. I am not saying that I'm going to stop playing games completely, but I'm saying that my interest in gaming is not as high as it used to be. I'm even starting to consider myself a casual gamer now. I really hate this feeling because I've been a big gamer for so long, but that hobby seems to finally be fading. Anyways, I just wanted to get this out here. I will still play the great games soon to come out because no matter what, I can't resist those. Later.

A full-time job will do that to you, too. The "casual" and "hardcore" terms are bad anyways... just play however much and whatever you want.

I wouldnt label yourself, just play when and how you feel like. It may be hard to believe but there are some more important things in life than gaming. As you grow older you will start to realise, as you seem to be doing now.

Yeah, I totally agree with both of you.

I guess you're just growing up faster than the rest of us...

Once you have a Mortgage and a fridge full of food to worry about these things will happen. Andy Williams has it right, just do it when you want. It will always be there for you. Have a blast while you can, cause once you get older gaming gets more expensive.

I'm in the exact same position as you right now, I've been a hardcore gamer since the age of 3 or 4 when my dad let me play some DOS games like Doom and Pharoahs Tomb with him. Now that I actually HAVE a social life AND a job, and will soon be going to school games are just slowly becoming less and less relevant.

Of course there's nothing better than coming home drunk from a great party and popping in one of your favourite games and just having a blast until you pass out from fatigue... except maybe coming home drunk from a great party and having sex with an extremely sexy lady until you pass out from fatigue... which I do all the time... yeah... all the time... *shifty eyes*
