I interrupt all this PS3 attention to bring you the latest PC update. Above is a photo of my MacBook Pro, which I bought in June. Little did I realize then just how pervasive Macs would become in the GameSpot offices. Takeshi already had a MacBook Pro, then I got mine. Last week, Tim T. picked up a MacBook, and today, Justin Calvert got the latest MacBook Pro. I know that Brian has been lusting in his heart for one, too. We've started a revolution over here. It's only a matter of time before we assimilate the others, too. You may now return to obsessing over a PlayStation 3, but we true computing fans know where the fun is.

this launch party is disgusting, it's a big display of sony's idiotic marketing that only works on non-gamers

But you CAN'T play Crysis on a MAC Jason!!! traitor! lol
Posted Nov 16, 2006 7:42 pm PT
Pretty cool, Jason. You're turning into a real Mac prophet or something...

I have a MacBook Pro 17" because it is required for our Art school. I don't really like Macs. They're so HOT (literally) and so not customizable. I'm using WindowsXP on my Mac (Bootcamp) since June. I've been playing BF2 with no problems. Crysis can be played here, too, but not maxed out.

I love the Macs, I love em so much.
Posted Nov 16, 2006 8:20 pm PT
be careful, my sister melted the center of her macbook pro...... seriously, it sank in after the warrenty expires.
Posted Nov 16, 2006 8:29 pm PT
How is the gaming on Macs? Are they built to withstands very advanced games? Also, will you be playing Crysis on your Mac?
Posted Nov 16, 2006 8:37 pm PT
I don't think we need to hear it, but we're all thinking it: PC > Mac. Vista is already better than OS X
Posted Nov 16, 2006 8:57 pm PT
The Macbook is really taking the world by storm. I started law school this year, and everyone uses laptops in class. I would guess that somewhere between 20 and 40% use Macs, which is really astounding when you think about it.

apples rule!
Posted Nov 16, 2006 9:46 pm PT
PS: crithon is lying..the warantee lasts at least a year if she didnt get the extension and the MBPro hasent been out a year

and ringbling, i almost didn't want to comment, but i just had to. No way is vista even close to being better than mac

nope I'm not lying. she took it to the apple store and they said "This looks like it was inflected damage." so they refused to give her any extention or help. It's basicly the keboard melted inward and the frame, you can't insert any cds, it looks like the processor overheaded and melted it inward. No inflection marks of like a bat or a pipe. It looks like it just caved in....... but then again this is her own fault, since she's got a long history of destorying things through lack of actual care for mechanical devices. Her ipod is damaged, her powercoard was sparking all over the place, she has like 3 laptops that are now bricks. But no, I'm not lying.

ah yes, macs are FAR better in many respects. I always surf through Gamespot on my 17" Intel iMac. I even play some one of the best games in the past year (Civ IV) native on my Mac, granted with soem issues that I'm waiting to be resolved by Aspyr. But anyways, I've had my Mac since June as well and I should tell many of you with windows machines, I have not had to restart except when there was a firmware or OS update. Also, (since I already started, may as well finish my thoughts) Many of the computing world are noticing that Microsoft has spent all this money on R&D just to run a photocopier when it comes to Vista, and in some more subtle ways, Zune. At any rate, always wonderful to know there are Switchers in all walks of life, even in gamers.

LOL nice.
I have the same Logitech soundsystem
Best soundsystem ever.
It was so worth the money.
And its nice to have a sub that is bigger them a 15" CRT monitor

After using a macbook/macbook pro for a short time, there is no doubt that the machine is both well-designed and elegant looking, not to mention having good performance. Glad to hear some of the Gamespot crew agrees.

No, but can a MAcBook acually play all PC games? Or is that only Windows Based computers?
Posted Nov 17, 2006 3:58 am PT
You can run Windows on Intel-based Macs.
Posted Nov 17, 2006 6:32 am PT
I am certainly enjoying my MacBook. The sweet, luminescent screen. . . it shines so purty.
Posted Nov 17, 2006 11:03 am PT
m4cS f0r Lyf3. Totally man. I haven't met one person that has legitimately tried a mac and not wanted to switch. It doesn't matter how die-hard you are for PCs...Macs are just better.

I'm using an iBook G4, it's allright. I still prefer my PC. I just hate the way you can't watch videos streamed from the internet in fullscreen.

Wow geeze, to think just 6 years ago having a small part of GameSpot's office invaded by Apple computers would of been unthinkable. I guess it's true the times are changing. Being a mac user myself it's nice to know I'm not so lonely. :-)
Posted Nov 18, 2006 2:21 pm PT
I still don't like Macs, I prefer the flexibility of windows.
Posted Nov 20, 2006 7:52 am PT
Dude! I want one! I've always wanted one.....

I just can't afford it...
Posted Nov 20, 2006 10:53 am PT
niice, a fellow mbp owner.

do the computing world a favor and continue converting people.
Posted Nov 21, 2006 8:33 pm PT
Mac is nice to bring around for internet usage. PCs obviously still own for games, but if you have a mac, and wii/xbox360/or ps3 you don't need a pc for now really

What is so fun about MACbook ;? is that most software don't work on mac or is the high price of hardware that looks great;? ... Also many Hardware enthusiastic ain't mac lover since everything on hardware is so limited to close end system.
Posted Nov 22, 2006 3:06 am PT
Sure if you have about $2,000 after adding a little memory and some more disk space I wouldn't mind trying this myself.

I do wedding DVD's and stuff like that so it would come in handy but the day I spend $2,000 on a MAC with my own money will be a day when I make about $60,000 a year.
Posted Nov 22, 2006 11:59 am PT
I never own a Mac and never will

"I don't think we need to hear it, but we're all thinking it: PC > Mac. Vista is already better than OS X"

Vista may be a better OS than Tiger OS X but by the time Vista hits the market in January/February next year Apple will aslo release their new Leopard OS which is claimed to be an even better OS than Vista.
Posted Dec 1, 2006 6:10 am PT
Cool!!! I'm getting a Dell in a couple of weeks
Posted Dec 7, 2006 5:57 am PT
Release date for an operating system doesn't mean it's inherently better. Many of the features that were featured on Vista in the past have been part of OS X for one year to up to five now.

I know I'm a complete stranger, but I thought you might find it amusing to know that you partly inspired me to get a mac, specifically from your appearance in "Getting to Know Gamespot".

While not the deciding factor, you definitely planted the idea of buying a mac in my head. I naturally followed through with it, being a computer enthusiast (geek?). So, thanks! I love my new black Macbook.

PC GAMES FTW! PWN TEH C0NS0L35! XD lol
Posted Jan 5, 2007 4:03 pm PT
Do you play any games on your Macbook?
Posted Jan 10, 2007 8:42 am PT
for people who think mac is better, if you subscribe to pc gamer....they compared a MAC machine to a PC machine for the same price....guess who the winner was. If you don't subscribe you will have to wait for the feb issue in feb.
Posted Jan 22, 2007 4:06 pm PT
Can I hear it for Linux? lol
Posted Sep 19, 2007 8:42 pm PT
HA i guess you can play WoW on your MacBook... but no MAC will ever be a gaming rig... Enjoy paying twice as much for .01% of game support
Posted Oct 5, 2007 8:10 pm PT
Macs are best for music certainly not for games.
