CSI: Miami aired their last episode for the season last night, and I finished up the recap for it this morning. The episode was a little above average, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping for.

With the fall season over for the most part, we've got summer programming on its way in the next few weeks. I'm only looking forward to a couple of shows (and just one new show), so it could be a fairly boring summer around my house.

I contacted missribs about getting a few of my retired guides back, and was surprised when I was told it's permanent. I swear I heard someone got a guide back a few months ago. Oh well, no big deal.

I didn't do much here yesterday, just submitted a few reviews I wrote a few months ago and never submitted them. I'm not expecting to submit too much today, either.

Yeah, it's sort of permanant, but I thought they would be willing to give the guides back to you. I guess they didn't want to do it because they don't want a bunch of people asking for that. *sigh*

I thought so too, Al. Oh well, heh. I only was after a few guides which no one else contributed to/became editor for since I left them.

I don't think retirement should be permanent, unless someone was actually "sacked" from a guide. When I took on The Bill from a Level 1 editor with 4646 points earned at TVTome, I had to plead with waltmor not to retire him, against the day that he might deign to return to us, and I am about to acquire another show from an editor who has been away for 6 months but, again, I have refrained from outing him as MIA, solely because of this issue. I have acquired a fair few editorships by default, as sole or main contributor, because I like to add missing details to shows and because most of them fall below the radar of the typical visitor. I cannot give these guides the love and attention they deserve, but I am loathe to retire from any of them, as retirement is a once-and-for-all option.

Perhaps missribs would agree to let you become Trusted User for those guides that noone else has contributed to? I know that they once confirmed that this was something they would consider for editorless shows, and you could use the old argument about relieving the pressure on TV.com's own moderators.

I'm not really looking to persue that matter further at this point in time.

Jim I thought they would be willing to give them back to you after all the work you have done, especially if they are unedited they dont loose anything by giving thmem back to you.

Take care,
Ross

Heh, it's less stress for you this way anyway.

Hi Jim, sorry you couldn't get some of the guides back. But at least angel is right, less stress for you.

Well, saying "it's permanent, but not if you contact missribs," would make the whole point of it being permanent moot.

It's permanent as a matter of policy, not for technical reasons. That is, the entire site is certainly a huge database, and ANYTHING in a database can be changed. I could believe they made this a policy because they don't want people flipping back and forth. And because it's a policy, they might not have a convenient tool for unretiring people. But they could do it if they wanted to, I'm sure.
