After a few weeks of consideration, I've decided to retire from editing guides here at TV.com. I don't plan on moving to TVRage or anything like that; I simply plan on walking away.

I figure all of this will take place over the next few days once I get someone I trust in a position to take over the guides.

As for the reason for resigning, it comes down to two things. I have neither the time nor the tools at my disposal to edit my guides and obtain the level of quality and completeness I would expect of myself or anyone else editing any given guide. I've considered Waltmor's suggestion of holding on to just a few guides to edit, but that simply isn't an option I'd like to choose as it still doesn't truely solve either of the problems I've mentioned earlier.

I may remain here as an occasional contributor, but I'll no longer be here in my current capacity as editor, and I'll likely cease all posting in the forums. I've not been especially active in recent months so that shouldn't be that big of a change, lol. Also, it isn't likely that I'll make any further blog entries.

There are a lot of wonderful people here in the community and I certainly wish you all the best.

Should anyone wish to contact me, you can email me.

I understand the frustrations, but it's a pity you can't wait the changes out. I have enjoyed sharing this space with you and shall miss your contributions, both in your personal logs and on the forums.

Jim

I am so sorry to hear this as you are such an excellent contributor. I have read many of your recaps and they were awesome. You will be missed a ton. I will miss your blops as well. Please don't be a stranger.

It is sad that you are giving up but i so totally understand how you fell. I have decreased dramatically my submissions since ther eis no support given where we actually help. it is too bad they don't consider having correct guides an important issue.

Hi Jim, I must say that when angel mentioned that you were retiring from your guides, I must say that I' quite surprised to see that you made your mind up to walk away from the site. It's understandable why you want to leave, but it's still sad to see a friend decide to leave. Good luck with life away from tv.com.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that you are leaving. You are truly one of the best people in this community, and I'm sure that your decision was considered truthfully. Good luck in any path that you choose, I will miss you and your talent a lot.

I'll miss you at the CSI and CSI:Miami forums, already do in fact. Best of health to you and yours.

I fully understand this frustration. More will leave before all of this gets sorted out. My only hope is that things get corrected *before* all the editors are little children, as has happened to some shows already.

Jim, you will truly be missed on this site, as you are one of the best editors here. I know that I have greatly lessened my time on this site since November. This is quite surprising, but whatever your reasoning, it probably must be for the best. Good luck in the future in any endeavors, and visit often!

I know how it feels. I haven't done nearly as much as usual around here. I basically have kept everything up to date and all, but what I've usually done, I haven't done in months.

I'll really miss you around here, Jim.

What? Did I miss something? This is a shock to me, I was hoping it was April 1st and you were about to say "April Fool's". I think you are a great editor, community member, and friend. You will be missed and stop by any time just to say hi!

You will be missed but good luck to you!

Sorry to hear that you are leaving, as you have done wonders for the site, with the guides that you're editor for. Sad to see you leave, as you'll be missed.

Good Luck with Your Future Endeavors!

This is a shock to me, as well. I will miss your comments on the help forums. I hope you decide to visit us, even if you don't edit your guides. A lot of oldtimers are leaving, or less active and it saddens me.

Thanks for all of the kind words, guys. I certainly appreciate it all.

As I tried to hint at, my future here isn't written in stone - maybe a few weeks away will do me some good, but it's really not an issue of morale so much. When I told Missribs about retiring, she seemed to think this was the case.

This isn't about bugs which never get fixed, it's about time. An hour a day just isn't enough time for me to get in the work here I need to. This was one of the reasons I applied for a CNET job a few months ago. I knew I'd be able to help people much better in that capacity. I did a pretty good job, in my opinion, helping people out in the time that I do have to spend here, but again, it's just not enough.

You will be missed Jim! You were a great editor and you will be missed! Wait, I just said that.

Oh well, you deserve it twice!

Good luck in your future Jim and try and stop by when you have some time.

I enjoyed having you as an Editor (Becker). Take care

Jim, since you retired from CCP, I made you trusted for that show in case you ever want to submit stuff in the future. I assume that is okay with you. I believe that it still works if you are retired.

Thanks for your help with my contributions. I'm glad to read (next blog) that you're not leaving entirely. I know I've gotten wrapped up in things to the point where they lost interest value - at that time, it's good to step back and breathe some other air for awhile.

Take care.
