I just watched three movies I've never seen before. They were The Wrestler, Little Miss Sunshine and Elephant. I'll start with Elephant, a friend told me that this was a great movie and used it to back himself up when I said Van Sant was a terrible director/writter and he claimed he was good. He told me the film was about a high school shoot-out and for some reason my interest was caught and I was forced to watching the film that night. Terrible movie Gus Van Sant you suck, although Good Will Hunting was OK and I have not yet watched Milk which could end up being good. Honestly though, this movie was so pointless, pretty much everything they show us in the first 1:15 minutes POINTLESS we don't need to know, nothing to do with the story. Terrible ending. And worst of all I found they set it up to make it look like video games were responsible, maybe they can influence some of the things we do but just can't see it happening, and I dont like them pointing fingers.

Darren Affronsky you are the man, first off you direct the drug cinema masterpiece Requiem For A Dream and the rest of your films were great to but nothing tops the Wrestler. I saw this movie friday with my mom and its still with me, whenever I hear The Wrestler by Springsteen all I can do is think about this movie and how much it would suck to just lose everything like he did. Rourke your one hell of an actor.

And for Little Miss Sunshine wow that was a surprise. I wasn't expecting to be attacted to the film the way I was, great film. Just go watch it.

Anyone hear the new Black Lips album yet? What about Handsome Furs? What were your thoughts.

I've never heard of that movie Elephant. So what would you rate the wrestler. People say it's good, but I'm a bit skeptical about it.

Out of the three, I've only watched Little Miss Sunshine. I didn't keep big hopes that I'll enjoy it but I agree it ends up being a great surprise. Everyone is praising The Wrestler around, must be good indeed. Hugs

Glad to see you liked the Wrestler. Personally, Van Sant is hit or miss with me (Drugstore Cowboy, Mala Noche, My Own Private Idaho, and To Die For being among his better work). That being said, Milk was an excellent flick. I'll be picking up the new Handsome Furs release tomorrow. The new Black Lips is a bit too mundane for my liking. I'll always miss the roughness in their early recordings that made them so appealing in the first place.

Only seen The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke makes it for me, bit too overratted IMO though. Still plan on buying the dvd though

I prety much agree with you on Gus Van Sant. Elephant is pure garbage. I don't understand the decision to use all amateur actors and to shoot without a real script, why not just do a documentary? Oh wait, I know, it's because he's a pretentious dick. Milk was actually good. Albeit, I don't think it was Best Picture worthy.

Aronofsky is great. I haven yet to see The Fountain but Requiem and even more so The Wrestler are fantastic films. I can't really say enough about that movie.

New Handsome Furs is incredible.

Elephant was an ok movie. Van Sant does better with cinematography than movie content.
I want to see The Wrestler, bad!
Little Miss Sunshine is a wonderful movie.

Lock, picked it up, I'll watch it sometime this week and let you know.

Jacob, I checked out a bit of the new Handsome Furs and I actually really dug it. Quite a bit. What do you think of the new YYYs?

Requiem For A Dream is a great drama movie

I've only seen Little Miss Sunshine out of those three, and I agree with you, I was also pleasantly surprised. It was a perfect blend of comedy and drama IMO.

The Wrestler is indeed amazing.

I thought Elephant was OK. But what do I know. Requiem for a Dream is in my top 3 movies of all time (along with TDK and Dazed and Confused), and the Wrestler was terrific.

And I also enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine. It's a real feel good film, which is sometimes what you need.

I must watch Little Miss Sunshine soon

Al: Wow didn't even hear of the album. It's downloading now. And I'll be sure to give Milk a watch.
