My 4th favorite album of all time. The Red Hot Chili Peppers' best album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik benefits immensely from Rick Rubin's production -- John Frusciante's guitar is less overpoweringly noisy, leaving room for differing textures and clearer lines, while the band overall is more focused and less indulgent, even if some of the grooves drag on too long. Lyrically, Anthony Kiedis is as preoccupied with sex as ever, whether invoking it as his muse, begging for it, or boasting in great detail about his prowess, best showcased on the infectiously funky singles "Give It Away" and "Suck My Kiss." However, he tempers his testosterone with a more sensitive side, writing about the emotional side of failed relationships ("Breaking the Girl," "I Could Have Lied"), his drug addictions ("Under the Bridge" and an elegy for Hillel Slovak, "My Lovely Man"), and some hippie-ish calls for a peaceful utopia. Three of those last four songs (excluding "My Lovely Man") mark the band's first consistent embrace of lilting acoustic balladry, and while it's not what Kiedis does best as a vocalist, these are some of the album's finest moments, varying and expanding the group's musical and emotional range. Frusciante departed after the supporting tour, leaving Blood Sugar Sex Magik as probably the best album the Chili Peppers will ever make. Nothing has still beaten this album. And for those who think Stadium Arcadium is the best think again....

Ok these guys are my personnal favorite band of the 90 ' s and my favorite band of all time. Also they are probabley the greatest band to walk the earth(remember this is all My opinion) Some great albums by them are siamese dream (perosnal fav) gish, mellon collie and the infinite sadness and adore, almost every album they do is good , the only ones I did,t enjoy a lttle bit was zeitgeist and Machina but other then that what a great band.Billy corgan is also an amazing guitarist and singer( well his voice is a little different, but still sounds great) Jimmy is a great drummer also. Please check these guys out and go "buy" not download siamese dream.Because we want more from these guys.

Modest Mouse is probabley the best indie band out there. This is all just opinion by the way. If you havn't heard any thing of them yet, i suggest buying the album we were dead before the ship even snak or good news for people who love bd news and the moon and antartica those are all classic albums. This bands music makes apperances everywhere like on the oc, the movie accepted and many more. I also feel that this band is slighlty underrated , if you like arcade fire or franz ferdinand or any other graet indie abnds. Be sure to check these guys out you wont be dissapointed.

This has got to be the most dead-on accurate portrayal of teenagers in the mid-1970's ever made. The reactionary football coaches, the keg parties in the woods, hanging out at the pool hall drinking beer, marijuana as the drug of choice, the drinking age was 18 and even then not enforced...and of course hazing the incoming freshmen. There are also a lot of subtle references that viewers who were not alive during 1976 may not catch, such as the mailboxes and fire hydrants decorated for the Bicentennial (who remembers those?), and the gas prices below 50 cents a gallon. This film brought back a lot of memories that I had completely forgotten about. You can watch this over and over again and catch new references each time that will be instantly familiar. A truly great piece of nostalgia.
