If you already didn't know... I work at Gamestop in my local mall. Since I am still a Junior in High School, I can only work from about 5:30-9:30 during the week... weekends is whenever I can get a shift. Today was my 2nd day. This was the first day I worked with the Assistant Manager, Sann. I don't know if he's Japanese or Korean... don't want to offend him by asking... so I'll wait until later. Still no sign of an employee discount card or benefits... hopefully I'll get my "special" privalege or bringing home BRAND NEW console games for 4 days tomorrow or Saturday... because Burnout 3: Takedown ships Tuesday (on shelves Wednesday) and I want to try it out when it ships. On my first day of work I learned some of the basic computer functions, the store layout, and the routines and procedures. Today I learned more about interacting with the customer, greeting them, and doing more things ON MY OWN... instead of having them hold my hand and lead the way. Business is slow, and Sann was playing Day of Recokgning on the Cube under the computer desk on a 5" LCD screen. I found out today that he is a huge Street Figher fanatic, and he like rock music. Hopefully I'll learn more about my coleagues, but my main focus is learning how to make everyday work at Gamestop a routine... flawless. Sann is the best in the district, maybe in the state... on his reviews (I assume by Corperate), he has all A+'s except one A. He told me how everyone at work made fun of him about that... but I understood why he would be upset... cause he is probably a perfectionist with things that he feels passionate about, as am I, and probably felt let down after losing his perfect record. Sann is tough... he had a very tough teacher, and is teaching me the same methods. He is very smooth with his talking... and I hope to soon be just as good. I am trying my best to learn the people the games and the release date, but it is so much... Today I mainly learned how to greet the customer and help them out, as well as further improve on the computer systems. Nobody used checks today, so I was very happy... but I am stuck with vaacum duties and trash duties... but its cool... I still love my job. Tomorrow I work the same hours as I did today, and I will be tested on what I learned today. This job is challenging... I like challenges... and as the W says: "Bring it on."
