Hey Gamespotters, meleeman here with a blog to end the summer.
"It was a good summer," he recalled fondly while puffing from a pipe.
Looking back at sunsets on the East side...we lost track of the ti--oh sorry that's not my summer, that's Smile Like You Mean it by The Killers. It's playing right now..but that's a very good summer song, which is fitting ![]()
Since I last blogged I'm sure a lot has happened but I don't remember the assorted things so I'll just randomly note some highlights.
Soccer's going good. We had a scrimmage but that was it, no games yet. Our team is shaping up well though, which is always good.
CAP is going well. I'm a flight sergeant now, for the flight of advanced cadets. I'm happy about this and very eager to take command of my fellow cadets, but the squadron is undergoing a lot of changes both big and small and it's getting a bit crazy for my tastes right when I get handed a leadership position. More on that another time.
Steve slept over last weekend. That was good times. I played Left 4 Dead for the first time, which was a blast (among other things we did).
Oh, my brother Josh moved off to college. Forgot that little detail. That's pretty weird, but I'm enjoying it. I also have access to the internet with my Xbox again, so I'll renew Live soon.
I finished Generation Kill finally. It was superb. Highly recommend it. Can't wait to find the show somewhere.
I suppose the last big thing is the retreat I just got back from. Tuesday we left for Rockbridge, a camp off in Virginia that I've been to before and possibly even talked about. I had been twice with church, in 6th and 7th grade, but when they opened up a similar camp 1/4 of the distance from us, then church and school retreats were both relocated there. I was thoroughly surprised when they told us we'd be at Rockbridge with school this year, but it was very fun. We go every other year before school starts to meet new students and just have a good time. It was 4 days long instead of weekend retreats with church, so we had a long time to do a whole lot of stuff. Some of the highlights were an ultimate frisbee competition among the grades, a zip line, the "blob", frisbee golf, the rock climbing wall, capture the flag, the class skits, and just the relaxing with friends. I just wish I could have gone as a senior!
To top off the last (and three day long) weekend of summer, dad and I are going shooting on Labor Day. I cannot WAIT. Stay tuned for that little blog ![]()
Until next time, I've been a oh-no-summer-can't-really-be-ending irmeleeman5995, and that is a mouthful to say!
