GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

Well, I've been back home for a week. I've barely commented or posted. Mostly due to sleeping too much and going on the Animation Revelation forums.

Today, I watched The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. And let me say that it was… crap. No offense to anyone who liked it, but I thought it was just pure garbage. The movie had a predictable and unappealing plot. It managed to be even more mindless than the first 2 Mummy movies (which were actually okay in my opinion). And the first part of the movie felt way too much like that movie Hero. Seriously, Jet Li seems to be wearing the exact same outfit from that movie. Honestly, I couldn't help but feel distracted that Rachel Weisz got replaced. Still, Maria Bello was okay. Brendan Fraser was all right. And that guy who plays Evelyn's brother, John Hannah, was more annoying than funny. I remember watching The Mummy Returns during a bus ride and ended up confusing John Hannah with Alexis Denisof for some reason. And personally, I think Alexis Denisof would've given a better performance. But, back to the point. Jet Li was okay, even though he spent part of the movie as a demonic soldier made out of chocolately goodness. Michelle Yeoh was good, but that girl who played her daughter got on my nerves. I can't say anything good about Luke Ford. I just thought his character was bland and his relationship with Lin felt too tacked on. And, I have to say that the part of the movie that made me wince the most was when yetis inexplicably came. Honestly, yetis? I wasn't expecting this movie to be realistic, but yetis? I miss Imhotep and Anck-Su-Namen. Really, the only part that I felt was interesting was the one where Jet Li inexplicably transformed into King Ghidorah. I have to say that the movie was too cheesy. And who wrote it? (checks wiki) Millar and Gough. The guys who wrote Spiderman 2, those two Shanghai movies with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson, and Smallville. Wait, the script for Spiderman 2 came from those guys? But that was actually a good movie. I always thought Millar and Gough's movies were nothing but pure guilty pleasure movies. Hmm. Still, The Mummy 3's fun if you like action/adventure movies. Overall, I'd give it a 4 out of 10.

And I rewatched The Dark Knight as well, mostly to get that Mummy 3 taste out. And, it's one of the very few movies I've watched twice in theatres, because it's just that good. Heath Ledger was really good as the Joker. Even from watching the trailers, I loved seeing him. It's just sad that he died. Unlike Mummy 3, TDK was more consistent. And there weren't as many useless characters. My only problem with the movie was that it was a little too long.

So that's it for the blog. Good night.

I liked the first Mummy movie and hated the second. This one looked more like the second one so I was going to avoid it. Thanks for the confirmation.

"The Dark Knight" seems awesome.

The Dark Knight is brilliant. Might see The Mummy 3 but I'm not in a major rush to see it though.

This one wasn't really garbage. Of course, I have seen a lot more movies than the average person does, so I have seen what real garbage is . That's why The Mummy 3 didn't seem so bad in comparison.

With that said, this movie was pretty much what I expected. It was a mediocre movie which mainly only relied on its special effects to entertain people for over 90 minutes. I actually rather liked the first 2 Mummy movies, and found them to be above average adventure movies, but this one was just there to make money. Overall, I'd give it a 5/10, which is actually kind of a generous score for this movie, IMO.

The Dark Knight was an awesome movie, but I must say, its kind of overrated. For me, its definitely not perfect. Christian Bale was a mediocre Batman, and there were some parts of the movie that just felt silly, or made absolutely no sense at all. However, those are only minor flaws in an otherwise great movie. Heath Ledger's Joker was amazing, as was Two-Face, in this movie. Overall, I'd give it a solid 9/10, which is a great score, coming from me (when it comes to live-action films).

Auntie: You're welcome.

Azure: Yeah, it is.

Shawn: Yeah, The Mummy 3 definitely isn't one of those must-see movies.

Ensatsu-ken: Eh, I just thought the movie could've been better, but you're right. Mummy 3 was bad, but it wasn't horrible. Still, it'll definitely be better than that Disaster Movie coming out later this month.

And which disaster movie would that be ?

Well, I am not running to see The Mummy (thanks for that), I quite liked the first two (well, first more, right?), but felt the second to be verging on the mediocre so we are not verging anymore .

Ughhhh....Another one of "those" movies. I really don't see the appeal of most stupid comedies like that. The only movies that are sort of like that, which I actually rather enjoyed, are Airplane and the Naked Gun movies.

That trailer looks, disastrous.

I plan on watching The Mummy 3, so I didn't read your review of it. Although I did see the 4/10. I was one of those people who didn't mind the second, although at first I didn't like the idea of a Mummy movie outside of Egypt. So my expectations aren't that high. But we'll wait and see

I'd love to see The Dark Knight again... Perhaps with Village's $9 cheapo ticket

I was not playing to see the Mummy since it did look stupid and now that you have confirmed it I will wait until I can rent it.

As for Dark Night, I loved it. You are right that some parts were silly but overall I loved the Joker and HL did a terrific job. I forget it was him and that says now good of a job it was in portraying a different identify from himself.

I did not mind how long it was but there were scenes that could of been taken out to make it shorter. I would give it a 9/10 as well.

I might see Disaster Movie.

Phi: You're welcome.

Ensatsu-ken: Yeah, they really need to stop with them.

Azure: Indeed, it does.

Rach: Well, I'll admit that the Mummy 3 was okay at trying to move the setting to China. It still didn't look right, but I've seen worse.

hikinggirl: Yeah, Heath was pretty good. And I'm saying it because he died, he was actually pretty good.

:Grey90: Once again, you're welcome.

That's cool that a feature movie manages to get you to see it twice, and not because you have two different groups of friends that want to go.
