A few days ago I made a post about trying to give a referral for someone since I was going to sign up (again) for Game Fly. Problem is: the referral thing only works for new subscribers and since I had subscribed to the service before - I was invalid for this offer. So, I removed the blog post to avoid confusion.
Since I got the 360 a relatively short time ago, it's been my primary goal to just try out as many games as possible and then go back and dive deeper into the worthy ones. Some, I could nothelp but stay glued to and finish before returning - Fable 2 was one of these. So was Ghost-busters - but that could have been due to the shorter than expected solo campaign and good humor included with that game.
I've bought 3 games: Tiger Woods 10, Vivia Pinata, and Battlefield 1943. To be frank, the biggest chalenge for me has been adapting from a mouse and keyboard to a controller. In particular, the past paced aiming in multi player shooters is tough. But, hey, I am getting better. I few months from now, that difference should be pretty much eroded.
Game Fly has shipped me two titles and I still have a few days to go left on my Hollywood Video "power play" membership.
Current tiles include:
Left 4 Dead (360) In route from GF
Bolt (Wii) Yes, I know a kids game - my 5 year old daughter and I have a blast gaming together
DAH! Path of the Furon (360) Maybe some folks might like this but it's too shallow for me. The wife rented this one. Kinda funny at some parts
Sega Superstars Tennis (360) This is "ok" I guess. But how did Sega come to the conclusion to make this game? It must have been a money thing with the release of Mario Tennis and all that.
Maybe it's just me, and my changed circumstances over the years, but the bloody (meaning gory - not British slang) games just don't do it for me anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love blasting bad guys away with whatever means available, but the spewing blood and all the excessive detail is just - excessive - for me now. Plus, it's hard to play these games with little kids around. They kids areup at the crack of dawn and stay up until a decent hour. On top of that, my wife hates the gore. So that leaves me maybe 30 minutes a day tp play games that have detail I really don't care for. With Left 4 Dead on the way, this is on my mind. But I still want to try it. As with most things, it's good to keep an open mind - especially when you're only renting.

I'm afraid to find out which new console I'll purchase (if any) during the next console generation...

I think it's probably due to maturity. Plus we've seen so much development in video games over our life - its not the same for the younger generation. Although we love games - our priorities tend to shift with careers, families and other developed interests. But not that we are giving up our games - it's just that its different. I would lump this group with anyone who is old enough to have played the Atari in it's heyday and have experienced a real arcade also in their heyday.
Yep, that applies to almost everyone who posted here, myself included...

Oh, and hit me up for some Left 4 Dead.
