We knew it was coming. It was only a matter of time before FOX cancelled the best thing on television. I guess we should be happy that it lasted as long as it did. For those of you who didn't watch Arrested Development, I feel sorry for you; you really missed out on something special. I reminded you to watch. I even offered you free things, like hot sauce and Kool-Aid. This is called "marketing," something that FOX has apparently never heard of. You think they would want to boast about how many awards AD has won and how much critics love it. But no, they shove drivel such as "Stacked" and "The War at Home" down our throats. The sad thing is, America willingly swallows this crap. What makes AD so unequivocally superior? It's not just the fact that it's laugh-out-loud funny. It actually respects its audience. It's not afraid to throw in some inside jokes for fear that viewers won't remember things from previous episodes; it's not afraid to put in some hidden gags for fear that we at home won't notice such obscure things; it's not afraid to be fresh, smart, and offbeat for fear that America won't catch on to its brilliance. But alas, that's exactly what happened. So as these last few episodes air, let's just be thankful that every episode offered us more than most television series do in a whole season. Let us begin...the final countdown. deedle ee dee, deedle ee-dee-dee...
