Lets face it. The movie Doom sucks. Plain and simple. The sad part is that this horrible movie has earned over $23 million (up to October 30, 2005) since its debut on October 21st. That is way more money than a movie like this should have a right to earn.

What made Doom so terrible? Well, lets start with the plot, shall we? Plot? There is not any. The movie starts out with the hell spawn already on the loose. You learn how they came about only to somewhat understand it all and at the same time you do not care anyway. When Sarge kills off The Kid you wonder why, but do not get any answers other than that deep down he is fairly evil.

When it comes to the weapons that the soldiers use, they look impressive. However, the soldiers hardly ever do anything with them but miss a lot and try to look macho while carrying them. Even when Sarge gets to use the BFG he only shoots it three times and misses every single time. Speaking of the BFG, the movie officially calls it the Bio Force Gun, which is super lame sounding. At least when they say the name they actually refer to it as the Big F***ing Gun since that was what it stood for in the series of games.

The hugely hyped first person action sequence was okay. I did not out right hate it or anything, but it is not a reason to go see this movie since it is only about five minutes long. Plus, the sequence made the enemies seem like nothing more than cannon fodder as the main character, John Grimm, easily blasted his way through.

I am sure most fans of the games went to see this movie expecting it to be something amazing, but it surely had to disappoint them. For me, I expected nothing and got nothing in return. Thank goodness that I only paid $4 to see it.
