October has been a interesting month. Not only many, many great games, like Uncharted 2 and Borderlands, but many DVD releases, news and rumours. What I hope to achieve here is a good, lengthy blog about the goings on of October, possibly the greatest month of 2009 so far!
Games
What can I say? October has been truly phenomenal. With the hyped up piece of art that was Uncharted 2, which is stunning, by the way, to the unique Borderlands, the fast paced PES 2010, the great, realistic as hell war shooter Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, and the release of Forza 3. I loved October, and it may be ending, but all of us can still look back and remember this historic month of gaming, for the PS3 and the Xbox 360! Lets start with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. No one really likes it. I have read many Gamespot reviews in which gamers (if you can call some people that) push bad points towards the game, stating it has bad graphics, boring gameplay, lack of checkpoints. Well I tell you all now, it hasn't. It's a solid First Person Shooter, and is perfect for fans of Call Of Duty, or any game similar. But I think my biggest highlight this month was Uncharted 2 (which I rated 10/10, by the way). Everyone knew it was going to deliver something superb to the PS3. The graphics are stunning, the story is well developed, the realism, the voice acting, the weapons and hand to hand combat, the characters, the settings, the sheer enjoyment you get out of Uncharted 2 is solid as a rock. The best game I have ever played on since Metal Gear Solid 4 and Bioshock! Then, the rather anticipated Borderlands, which is rich in art, and graphical succes and PES 2010, which is a great footballing sim, which no one seems to have bought yet, or even considered. Oh, and how can I forget Forza 3 for the Xbox 360? It is simply amazing. Great cars, great racers, and damn great fun!
Movies
Recently, Drag Me To Hell as released on DVD. I rented it yesterday, and watched it last night. I have to say, this is by far the best thriller type horror movie I have watched in a long time. Think The Evil Dead in the city, with even better effects and a better story. I was impressed with the acting, the rather scary moments of terror, the climax, everything in Drag Me To Hell was polished nicely. But that doesn't stray the fact that it was a little predictable. Another horror movie I saw, well, horror comedy, was Doghouse, a British horror zombie comedy. I found it rather funny, and some big names stars (Noel Clarke, Danny Dyer) made it even better with their hilarious one liners and great acting, which suited the parts well. The gore was spot on, the music was laughable, and overall, it was a great experience. I highly recommend!
News
A recently new gaming news story has emerged online, about the leaked Modern Warfare 2 campaign story. It has caused a little of a argument around the world. Here's the basics. If you do not want to be spoiled, stop reading now and skip this section! This extract is taken from Gamespot.
Now, footage has leaked which appears to show that the game will indeed depict the massacre, reminiscent of last year's mass killings in Mumbai, India, which left nearly 200 people dead. In a move sure to ignite controversy, the footage indicates the game will cast players as one of the killers, having them shoot civilians en masse from a first-person view. Several sites have posted footage showing the same group of five terrorists (including the player), wearing body armor over business suits, as has been shown in every trailer for the game. (See screen comparisons, which have leaked, lower-resolution footage on the bottom.) The killers first emerge from an elevator, as the sound cues in the very first trailer portrayed. Once out, they open fire indiscriminately into a crowd by the security lines, before moving up a series of body-draped escalators shown in the "Infamy" trailer released earlier this month. From there, the terrorists move through shopping level--with the player dispatching wounded civilians squirming on the ground, before moving down another escalator. Then, the scene shifts to the airport's tarmac, where they encounter a group of security personnel under a large passenger jet with red, white, and blue stripes. The same jet appears to be shown in the "Infamy" trailer, but from the opposite viewpoint of the security personnel moving to stop the killings. At that point, the leaked footage ends. However, despite being of low quality, the footage bears several telltale signs which indicate it is authentic--or an extremely elaborate mod. First is the fact the terrorists shown look identical to those in the last two official Modern Warfare 2 trailers. Second is the fact the blurry subtitles appear to show the name "Makarov"--the last name of the game's primary antagonist, Vladimir Makarov. Copyright Gamespot
The video can be found here. Now, I don't find anything wrong here. I mean, terroism is wrong, of course, but it's a game, it's meant to be fun. Modern Warfare 2 is going to blow everyone away, but I hope this doesn't cause any problems, because this game will rock, end of!

Well there, I have written my hands to threads. My Novemeber review, will be (you guessed it) posted at the end of November. I will post a new blog next week sometime, and my gaming reviews for Borderlands, PES 2010 and Forza 3 will be posted within the next few days. But that is all from me, goodbye!
