I am off work for two weeks. It's my holiday. I love holidays. Anyway, I took the chance to spend my savings yesterday, and I splashed out on three games. I wasn't going to, but with the reviews surrounding the two I wanted most in particular, I had to experience them myself. It's obvious, that judging from the topic title, that I bought Assassins Creed II. Now, everyone disliked the first. It was repetitive, boring, and compared to some fighting mechanics now' a days, it seemed a little dated, even at the time. I did like it, but I think the real problem was the story, and the overall mystery surrounding it. It wasn't that popular, and who ever had it seemed to hate it, so I don't understand the great review scores Assassins Creed got, from Gamespot, other users and myself. It's a mystery. But yesterday, something amazing happened. Assassins Creed II was popped into my Playstation 3, and all views on Assassins Creed, and every other game that has been released this year, was washed out of my head, because Assassins Creed II is great, amazing, fantastic even! Forget the first game, don't buy it, just save up, and get Assassins Creed II, because you will not regret it. Now, it is still repetitive. But forget that, and look at the lush environments, the superb graphics, the top notch gameplay and combat mechanics, and forget Assassins Creed, because this feels like a completely different game altogether. It has a few glitches, and some gameplay mess ups, but it is a solid game. I am not that far into the game, and well away from finishing the masterpiece, but what I can tell you is simple. Assassins Creed II is awesome! Aside from this, I bring myself onto the second game of the day. Left 4 Dead 2. Ever since I got my Xbox 360 Elite, not so long a go, I wanted Left 4 Dead 2 more than anything, but had to wait, obviously. But my waiting came to an end yesterday, because I picked it up in store for a very good £25, took it home and just stared at it. Literally. I then went on Saw (yes, that's my third game), and then enjoyed some of Assassins Creed II. But after that, I finally held the disc in my hand, and popped it into my Elite, and started it up. Suddenly, I was thrown into dark and gloomy corridors, cramped spaces and hordes of flesh eating zombies! I suddenly grabbed a pistol, and shot tons and tons of bullets through the air, ripping the zombies apart, watching their limbs falling off one by one, heads exploding, brains plummeting through the air. Without a doubt, this is one of the goriest games this year. You don't need a clever brain to notice the graphics are lush, because they are. Even if you take out your HDMI cable, the game still looks damn fine. Of course, I put my HDMI cable back into my TV, but I was just inspecting if it looked the same, or at least similar, which it did. I have played through four episodes, and I'll continue my on slaughter tonight, the lights out, the sound pumped up, and my girlfriend downstairs watching a girly movie. Oh yeah! The final spectacle, which I announced earlier, was Saw. I bought this full price, despite trying to haggle with the shop owner, for some strange reason. I have already reviewed it, so check it out now! But all I can say it, the combat sucks, but the key features that make it a Saw game is there, borrowed from the films. But the key parts are there, so any Saw fans, go out and buy this. But as I say, read my review for an in depth look. Hooah!
On a different note, I have been watching a few films recently, that I will mention later this week, but one I was really impressed with, was a great, straight to DVD horror title, called The Hills Run Red. Now, I went into this film expecting nothing more than nude, American teenagers, prancing around a forest, taking drugs and having a fun time, then getting hacked and slashed to bits, one by one, Friday The 13th like, but I was wrong. Oh I was. The Hills Run Red is a great film. The freaky opening scene, the horrid, quick killings, it was all very well done. After the freaky two minute scene, the film is a little slow for about twenty minutes, but soon picks up straight after that, and the killings start. The killer, named Babyface, for wearing a horrid, really scary mask that I even though scary, is connected to a few characters, and some unexpected thrills and plot turns. The acting was great, the gore was spot on, the music and the atmosphere was really good, and going to put your bin out at night will never be the same. The Hills Run Red, rent it as soon as possible, because your missing out on a treat! But, for now, that's a goodbye from me, but I'll see you soon. Remember to read my Saw review, my Modern Warfare 2 review, and my Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassins Creed II reviews later in the week. But, goodbye for now!
12 November 2009
Well, one of the biggest games every one was waiting for was released on the tenth of November two thousand and nine! I picked it up from a midnight launch, got £20 discount because I work at the game shop I bought it from, so it only cost me £25, and that was it, I was glued to my HDTV for hours on end. I finished the campaign on Recruit mode in about four hours, and now I'm playing it on Veteran, and I'm half way through. I have to say, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is awesome! I knew it was going to be good, but wow, it rocks! The campaign is intense, thrilling and never bores. Your plummeted into icy levels, driving snow mobiles and ice picking your way up snowy cliffs, you go under cover and play as a terroist in a sad, unusually fun airport level, then your thrown into warfare at the white house, go under water and drive a boat! This game takes you where other games have not, endless action film style adventure. Then, the Special Ops mode, which allows players to play a series of challenge maps, solo or with a friend (I played with the girlfriend, well, she's terrible). Tons of hard challenges, that makes the most of your money! It also has an awesome online mode (I have not got PSN at the moment, because my local area connection is bad, I mean, really bad!, so I play at a friends house for hours) which is really addictive! It simply rocks, and it's my second favourite game this year, because Uncharted 2 just nicks it, but I love Modern Warfare 2 to bits! My review will be up on saturday! Go out and buy it, now.

Muhahaha (again)...
It's Halloween today. The little kids will be out, begging for money and sweets. Well, that's what it's all about, isn't it? I think Halloween is dead. Seriously. There is not as much interest, not as much hype, and not very good TV Movies, so I have to go out, and rent movies, which is fine. But seriously, get more Halloween blogs up, and start getting SPOOKY. Ok, I'll stop that, but erm, yeah, you get it.
Spooky Movie Countdown
These are not my favourite horror movies of all time (although they are all amazing), but they are my top ten to watch on a cold, spooky, dark night. Try tonight. Go on, go get one, watch it, and be scared!
10: The Evil Dead
What can I say? The horror that inspired horror's. This freaky, gory as hell, guts and blood movie is one hell of a horror. I mean, this is the sort of movie everyone should be watching on Halloween night. It's really scary, and it's Sam Raimi's work, so don't expect something terrible. Gore, scares, amazing special effects, The Evil Dead is a great, old, horror flick. Just don't sleep in a wood cabin tonight in the woods! Please, don't.
9: The Descent

8: Saw
Saw was a low budget project, but now, is a massive hit, with a seventh and eighth movies announced, and a videogame. But this is by far the best Saw. The great plot, the scary as hell "pig mask" scenes, the gore, the amazing climax, and the music. Saw isn't one who likes Narnia and Up, this is a hardcore, bloody thriller. Damn, it's good!
7: Last House On The Left (2009 remake)

8: 28 Weeks Later
The first was awesome. This was even better. Without a doubt, the British are the best at zombie horror movies. Gory, intense, scary, freaky, and one hell of a roller coaster ride. This great movie scared the hell out of me, and I do not scare easily. The music is so intense, the story grips you from beginning to end, the effects are awesome and then gore, oh my, love it!
7: Clive Barkers: Midnight Meat Train

6: Aliens
I loved Alien, the start of a great saga, great spin off titles, too. But the second proved that sequels can be better than the originals. Aliens picks up the story from the first, too. By Ridley Scott, Aliens is a fast paced, suspenseful, scary horror movie. The plot is fantastic, and it doesn't fail to scare you at all. Very spooky, ideal for Halloween!
5: The Excorcist

4: Wolf Creek
This isn't really a horror. It's spooky, but it's a thriller. It's based on a true story, and it's real scary. I won't spoil the plot for you, but seriously, if you see this movie, then buy it, because this Australian flick is awesome!
3: The Shining

2: Drag Me To Hell
A weird choice here, but Sam Raimi's latest global hit is out now, and is not to be missed, especially on Halloween night. It has a small dash of comedy, but that doesn't spoil the movie at all. It's a sick (Old Woman's teeth in the car scene, anyone?), twisted, fun, suspenseful thriller, that will have you behind your sofa, and begging for mercy. A great new take on the devil, and hell. Solid!
1: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original)

My Favourite Halloween Monster
By far, Frankenstein is the most horrid creation on cla$sic monster earth! The bolts, the green head, the flat hair, it's still an icon today. Praise to all that dress up as it tonight.
Halloween Treats
I know, this blog is getting more child - ish by the minute, but it's Halloween, right? I want to post a few links to Halloween food treats. If you have kids you want to cook for, or get them involved, whatever, here are some great recipes. Have fun! Try a Spooky Graveyard Cake, or maybe some Eyeball Pasta, which could be great for a quick meal. It's up to you! If you want some tiny tasty treats, why not cook some Scary Spider Buns? Or maybe, you want something a little more healthy, like Pumpkin Soup? Tasty!
What a Day!
Well, I'll be looking forward to tonight. I'll be cooking a meal for me and the girl, maybe some Pumpkin Soup (that's a joke, honestly). Then some beer and wine, some Evil Dead and Casino Royale, sweets, Pringles, and then, bed. Bed, my favourite part of the night. Yeah, We will be...
