My dog has it!
So my mom has 2 PS2's and one of them wont even read a disc anymore. Well here I am thinking to myself that maybe they need to blow out the dust, cause it's been there for quite some time and I wanted a PS2 to play some classics.
So I take it home, blow out the dust, and tried playing a game. No luck... as a matter of fact, there was a clicking sound. So my mind tells me that any additional noise coming from the console, other then the whirring sounds of the CD, fans and laser head isn't good at all. It was a nice clicking sound, so I thought I would crack my PS2 open for the first time.
After a couple of Youtube video demonstrations, I've managed to open the unit and take a look inside. Welp, the DVD tray is covered, and I can't see the lazer head, so I managed to take that cover off and see what's going on.
So with all the covers off, I can see the spinning unit, the lazer head and so forth. I turned on the console and saw the how the thing works, pretty cool! So I hear the clicking sound again, and what I noticed is the laser diode, that sits on a pair of metal bar tracks, and a plastic arm that reaches over and sits on a long screw. The screw rotates, thus making the laser move up and down. Well what I noticed was that the laser head refused to move, despite the efforts of the screw continously rotating. I checked the plastic arm that sat on the screw, and it seem to catch the guides of the screw just fine, but what I did notice that it took quite some effort to move the laser head across the metal tracks. I tried nudging the laser back and forth and it was quite tough, eventually it moved, but required un-neccessary force. By the way, I'm not sitting there with a thumb up my butt just pushing this thing back and forth without a clue what can go wrong. I was actually very gentle and cautious with it and wanted to test the mobility of the laser head on the track. So i took some WD-40 onto a que-tip and lubricated the tracks and got the laser head to now gently flow along it's tracks like it used to. Tested the DVD again and TADAA! I saved myself $$$ from costs of repairs to buying a new console. Who would've thought such a simple technique would 100% resolve the issue. In most cases, I was close to putting down money on a new console, which now I can use that money for games ![]()
I hope this was enlightening to you all, and now off to my PS2 for some action adventure. TOODLES! ![]()
In LA California, there's a really cool theme park called Six Flags Magic Mountain, and it's a lot of fun to go to. However there's talks about tearing down the theme park because of huge gang activity going on over there. My cousin who went there a few weeks ago, said that they had to build a sherrifs office next to the park because at night the place is infested with gang crap.
NOW the main reason why Six Flags is a gang fortress, is because they claim the color of each ride is representing a different gang...
I'm sorry, but that's the stupidist BULL*** I've ever heard!
Talk about a way to ruin peoples lives who are trying to enjoy themselves safely and as a family, only to have it disturbed by some stupid gang crap...
I just wish that their moms would just go to those gangs and whoop their butts and tell them how they've lost their stupid minds!
