It's been a while, so I thought I'd jump up on the ol' soapbox for a sec.
First of all, I just want to publicly air my support for the man who will, in less than an hour, be our new President. I'm not going into this new administration with blinders on, and I can safely say that I already question one or two of his ideas, but I do have faith that President Obama will have a positive effect on the office of the President, on the country as a whole, and on our perception in the larger world. He is inheriting a great opportunity, and a massive burden. Here's hoping that he (and we) can rise to the occasion.
And on a much more trivial note, my lovely wife just bought me an amazingly extravagant early birthday present: an XBox 360. This big lump sum purchase leaves us rather cash-poor at the moment, so no games other than the two that came with the system ("Lego Indiana Jones" and "Kung-Fu Panda"). I did, however, sign up for XBox Live, which is very cool. The only problem is that I had to sign up as "grailwolf13" because someone already had the name "grailwolf". It's very odd. That's the first time I've ever had anyone else take my usual name, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Anyway, if you see a "grailwolf" on XBox Live, it's not me, but a "grailwolf13" uttering my usual catchphrase will be the genuine article.
I won't be able to be online very often (at least, not playing), but if you see me around go ahead and introduce yourself. And if you need someone to catch bullets, fall off platforms, or get eaten by zombies, I'm your guy.
Hurdy gur,
-Marc

Lego Indiana Jones is kinda fun actually....not as fun as Wall-E though.
Haven't tried Kung-Fu Panda yet but I got it with my second handset, so I'll be kung-fuing (fooing? phooing?) all over the place sometime soon.
Your lovely wife is extremely lovely, lucky man, enjoy your gift!

It would be interesting to see Lego Kung Fu Panda.

That is an extravagant present! All the Lego games are pretty good so you can't go wrong with that one.

TJ: Yay, indeed!
An amazing day, yesterday. Really felt the pull of history.

Newbie: Check. Gift enjoyed.
Played through the first level of Lego Indiana Jones (basically just the opening scenes of Raiders of the Lost Ark). Pretty fun, but I can't say that the Lego concept is grabbing me as much as I thought it would. Also, the controls are a little clunky (or, perhaps, I'm a little out of practice). I'll have to play more before I can really say how much I like it.
Good luck with the phooing. I hear there's a shot you can get for that nowadays. Clears it right up.

Angus_Mac: How about Kung-Fu Lego Bat Pandastar Man Wars?
Too much?
Too much?

danbambridge: I've been told by some friends that Indiana Jones is the weakest of the genre so far. Not that it isn't fun, but I think I may want to give Star Wars a shot next.
What's your experience? Have you played the other ones?

They make a shot for everything these days. Clever fools.
I'm a little clunky on the lego controls too, I keep falling into holes when I try to use my whip to get across gaps...Sigh. I think I'll stick to shooting bad guys in the head in non-lego games from now on.

Ah, so that's what the Grailwolf13 tweet was about. I still don't have an Xbox360. I'm considering getting it come tax refund time but I already have a PS3 and a Wii so I have to weigh the cost/benefit ratio of getting another console. The Netflix thing is really cool though.

Newbie: Exactly what I'm on about! I'm not a huge fan of the platform jumping genre to begin with, but so far this just has too many places where I walk off a ledge twelve times (and lose all my lego bits) before I can pull off the jump that I'm obviously supposed to do at that location. I think the 3/4 perspective throws me off a bit too. They really need to give you more control over the camera.

Cordy: Yeah, that's what the tweet was about. Sorry I wasn't more clear.
As for the console purchase, I think that always comes down to which games you like and what platform they're available for. I think the XBox rules, but I haven't actually played with a PS3, and only briefly with a Wii.
One thing I'll say in its favor, the marketplace on XBox live has so many free game demos (Mirror's Edge is hawesome!) that I may never have to buy a game again!
Oh, and the Netflix thing is awesome! (For those not in the know, Netflix allows XBox 360 users to stream a lot of titles on demand rather than waiting for the discs in the mail.) A little less exciting for me, though, because I already have that feature on my TiVo.

Just goes to show how often I come back to blogs I comment on...
I'm three months late with a reply but at least it's here!
I've not played any of them actually apart from a quick demo but they all look and feel good to play them. I personally perfer the Star Wars theme rather than Batman or Indy.
Mirror's Edge is a really good game, but only if you've got the patience of a saint with some of the later sections!

I think Microsoft makes it so that you can have a stright forward name with no numbers or variations. I serched just regualr names with nothing and they all have an Xbox gamer picture, 0 g, and have done nothing. A evil conspiracy by microsoft if you ask me.
