Well the new year has arrive and finally finish my first holiday game, it brutal legend from the legendary Tim Schafer. He has been know for quite a few titles such as psyconauts and Grim Fandango among a few others.I was really looking forward to this game two reason it was a clever way to pay tribute to metal and Tim Schafer was the other reason. Tim Schafer has been consider one of the best original writer in the video game industry. So when I saw the review well I love everything about the story and world it was based on but still I wasn't sure because of the rts element of the game. When I get to play the game, the intro was fascinating in terms of humor and originality totally blow my mind away. I was considering the game the best of the year. I continue playing and everything the humor wasn't as epic as the being but still I hold no grudge. The rts elements mixed up with the hack and slash was a refreshing taste, but the rts needed a little of more work. Trying to get all of your troops while your flying can sometimes be a pain, but still a great experience overall. I am not going to spoil much that is why I trying to keep it a bit short. In the end brutal legend is great game with it few flaws, the rts element could have been a little more sharper and driving segment feel repetitive. Those are my only minor complains apart that the game was short. But you have to keep in mind that this game also dint find a publisher because a couple of inconvenience and the final product was rush out. I will await a sequel , or I hope it will come out with more force than is previous installment. If not well brutal legend still is an emersive game only a bit short on the downside but this epic rock fest world and imaginative not dramatic story can only be deliver by Tim Schafer.
Brutal legend: 9.5
Demon Soul:
Well at start Demon Souls looks like a pretty simple game in terms of, but that not entirely true as you progress throughtout the story you get this little cutscene that try to show some narrative but but they really dont matter where the story of this is located is in the five world you will discover and explore. They beauty of this story is that the story itself is almost none existent but so profound because of that. There is only one mayor cut scene in the whole game a rare thing for any Rpg. When get to the gameplay mechanics the game feel far from perfect and I dint find the game that hard just a bit challenging it feels like going back to the time where safe point dint not existed instead you depend on a good memory and trial and error there this game truly shines. The one of the weirdest and best things of this game is the lack of start, I was like is this game broken in anyway way but the reason there is no start is to give the game a classical feeling of being hopeless like shinobi for an example (although in that game you can pause). The boss fights are great including the first boss fight I felt challenge. I haven't finish the game I just getting started but its looking at the game the journey feels like no other,
9.5
Dragon Age Origins:
Well when you see in the cover bioware you know what to expect an immersive and big RPG that will keep you hook up for month to come. When i started the game I was so facinated by the tree of multiple choices you have, one choice can change a whole set. For an example if you free the blood mage in the red cliff you will need to go elsewhere to complete the mission and that only can absorb one hour of gameplay on that simple choice. The gameplay is like a flashback to the good old times, when RPG where meant to be played on the pc ( I have the ps3 and still gives me that feeling) and gave me that sense of nostalgia for the good old days. But there are some glitches here and there but they dont mess with the experience. The story thanks to the tree of multiple choices at your disposal it is huge, I played today 10 hours straight of gameplay an only I have been around five towns and it barely the being. Your interaction with your party member is another important aspect of this game you gain a lot from romance to bed (lol). Apart for the minor glitches dragon age feels fresh and old at the same time by combing old gameplay that pc game where originally known for with the immersive and deep storyline that only bioware can produce.
10.0
Both game I go for the xmas and they are looking like candidates for game of the year in my list specially dragon age bioware out did themselves this year with this game but demon souls contains it very unique flavor that makes it highly distinguishable thorough the masses and that can be taken in consideration.
Uncharted 2 consider by many the best game of 2009, praise by it great graphics and for redefining the adventure gerne for many.It has receive numerous game of the year awards and still has plenty in store for it. Overall rating is 96 including 25 perfect score. It sounds like the perfect game doesn't it. Well I have some bad news uncharted 2 is not perfect not even near of it. Sure the graphics and physics are amazing. The story has it bits of humor and character development that truly gives an immerse storyline. Everything sound perfect until the gameplay comes in and there where Uncharted 2 falls short of my expectation. Like predecessor uncharted 2 gun play still is boring no other words to describe it. Why because the lack of weaponry that gives every game the sense of variety that it needs, it contains almost the same weapons as Uncharted 1. While jumping and getting up building and old ruins maybe fun it gets old fast. What truly save this game from earring a 7 is it story. It may not be as big as MGS but U2 story contains a lot of epic moment that truly give you the feel of a big blockbuster movie. The moments like the helicopter scene in the rooftops and train are few moment that make this game truly shine. When it comes to graphics Uncharted 2 is at the top with it big brothers MGS 4 and killzone 2. In other words the game has the best graphics of this year period you cant argue much about that. Overall Uncharted 2 honor among thieves it a good game to represent the adventure genre but not a great it still lacks of better gun play mechanism that truly can make it a refreshing experience.
