I am starting to wonder if I have become too picky about television shows. Maybe this trend started with my deep criticism of One Tree Hill, which I still stand behind, by the way. But this season alone, Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars have disappointed me, Smallville has both excited and bored me, and I have questioned many things Supernatural has done. And last night, in an otherwise great episode of Heroes, I managed to find things to be disappointed about.
Last week's episode of Supernatural was great. It was exciting, well written and, naturally, well acted. But I didn't like the direction the went in, having the actual hostage-taker die and then Dean took over and wouldn't let anyone leave. I know that it was completely in his character, but I didn't like that they were doing yet another "getting in trouble with the law because of what they do for a living" episode. Maybe if they'd pushed this a little later in the season.... I don't know. It just doesn't seem that long has passed since the LAST episode that did that, and I was just disappointed that it went in that direction again.
Ah, Smallville. I really, really wish I had seen earlier episodes of season six, because watching Hydro and Justice really made me wish that I had seen more of Oliver Queen and the Green Arrow. But he's gone now and I missed my chance. I also wish I had seen more of how they introduced Jimmy onto the show and hooked him up with Chloe. Ah, they finally gave Chloe a boyfriend. But now I'm stuck with the show going back to Clark and Lana, which really sucks. The only couple worse than Clark and Lana is Lex and Lana, and I hate to say that I did suffer through some of them in a few unfortunate nights I picked to watch. I heard that TPTB think that Smallville is ABOUT Clark and Lana, which I cannot disagree with more. Lana sucks. That chapter needs to be over. They're not in high school anymore, and with Lois on the show, they just don't work. They aren't supposed to work anymore! Oh ugh. What a bi-polar bunch of writers, who can get Justice and everything even remotely connected to JLA so right and then get Clark and Lana so so so wrong. Frustrating. They are going to make it that Clark and Lois would never work in their universe!! Ugh.
Heroes last night was great, in my opinion. More happened in this episode than the previous episode, although I am really starting to wonder what they're going to do with Niki and Jessica and how that's going to fit, but I trust that it will and that they know what they're doing on that end. What I was disappointed about was how little Claire did in this last episode (even though I understand why) and that we haven't seen her younger brother since he realized he didn't remember how he got home. We heard from their mom that he's become more and more absent-minded recently, which I believe is an after-affect of the memory thing the Haitian guy did on him. But I want to know: is Lyle adopted, too? Does H.R.G feel at bad about what he did to his son? I don't accept telling over showing. If Lyle is becoming more absent-minded, let me SEE that. And then if I am seeing that, I can also see if H.R.G cares or not, which would be better insight to his character.
Last but definitely not least, Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. I'm not sure I'm being too picky on these two shows because I get the idea that every other fan around me is also disappointed. I hear that the rest of season three is going to be stand-alone episodes to try to bring more people in. Oh, folks at VMars and CW, you just don't get it, do you? The big mysteries IS what makes VMars so great! THAT is what hooks people and draws them in. My, I fear for this show. What's sad is that even though I'm disappointed enough in to stop watching, it's still signficantly better than many other shows on TV and I know I will buy season three on DVD eventually. I just don't hold much hope for a season four. And Gilmore Girls... Thank the heavens that this is the last season. I can't stand how they've ruined this show. They always intended to get Laurelai and Luke back together, which is super great. But because of that, they never should have had Laurelai marry Christopher. I could understand getting into a relationship with him after Luke because she was afraid she would never get married and blah blah. But it should have been more clear what that was. And they never should have gotten married, because now they can't get them back together without ruining either Christopher's or Laurelai's characters, or both. Both are characters who shouldn't be ruined for that. Sigh.
So, too picky or not? Part of it's because I'm a writer and I see things differently than many viewers. Maybe I am too picky though if every show I ever watch will disappoint me somehow. I should try to be more like I used to be and just enjoy. Although I couldn't let go entirely. That's just not who I am.

I only watch Gilmore Girls out of the shows you mentioned and I have to agree with the marriage thing. I actually like Chris but we all know that Luke and Lorelai are getting back together and now we have to deal with a divorce. I don't know. I just didn't like it either.
