Dwight Howard is an amazing athlete for someone almost seven feet tall. He plays for my favorite NBA team, the Orlando Magic, and he almost won the NBA rebounding title last year, which was just his second in the league. Before he was drafted a few years ago, the draft analysts said that he was going to be the next great big-man, a cross between Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. With his play during his first two seasons, he's making those experts look smart. Howard hasn't really been dominating offensively yet, but the guy is still just 20! The guy probably the second best big-man when it comes to dunking (after Amare Stoudemire) and is already a great rebounder and shot blocker. Dwight is also considered a very high-class individual and should fulfill his potential of being a Hall-of-Fame player.

Fans and fellow racers hate Kurt Busch for good reasons: He doesn\'t respect his fellow drivers much and is unapologetic when he wrecks someone. These are actually the qualities that made Dale Earnhardt a NASCAR idol, but Busch is somehow hated for possessing the same personality. Kurt does a great job driving bad cars to respectable finishes and he\'ll continue to win many races in the future, especially at the short tracks. The 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion has many years of good racing left in him. While Kurt doesn\'t deserve the admiration and large fan base that other top drivers have, he doesn\'t deserve to be booed when he wins.

Derek Jeter is my favorite athlete despite the fact that he completely ruined my Oakland A's a few years ago in the playoffs. I've read his autobiography and I really think this guy is a good inspiration for those who want to accomplish their dreams. Jeter works harder than the other players in the league and makes the most of his talent. He's also a great leader that comes up big in clutch situations and is loved by all his teammates. The guy performs admirably off the field as well. He has his own charity organization called turn 2 and has never done anything stupid in the New York spotlight. He's 31, rich, handsome, and still not married! He values marriage so much that he's willing to find his perfect match rather than simply hook up with other famous people like most celebrities do. Jeter might be the only athlete that I consider my role model and when I have a son, I'll be hoping that he turns out like Mr. Jeter.

Kobe went to the NBA straight from high school and has been one of the best basketball players in the world during the past eight or so years. Bryant is one of the most hated players in the game today because of his arrogance and selfishness. I dislike him mostly because he acted like he owned the league when he was just a struggling eighteen year old rookie and still made the all-star team with terrible numbers but immense popularity. I don't believe he really raped that girl, but Kobe has consistently brought down the play of his teammates and forced Phil Jackson and Shaq out of town so he could be the face of the franchise. Even though I hate him, there's no player I fear more if I'm an opposing coach. Kobe is a terrific player and rooting against him makes the NBA season much funner.
