Well you never really know. Maybe it was the people who earned (or were given) the success that rubbed it in the other people's faces, making them jealous. So that way it was the successful people he started the hate.

But then again, it could've been the jealous people looking for someway to satisfy their jealousy so they spread things about the sccessfuls. THat way it was the jealous who started hating the successful, making the successful people ace nasty.

It's a complex question, it all has to do with what you think I guess.
