So I was reading something just a minute ago that was talking about the ratings for the new 90210 and it said that the rumor going around is that the CW may be on the ropes.
First, I must admit that I'm not surprised by it. Since the CW took over UPN and WB, so many great shows have gone off. Not just Gilmore Girls (you had to know I would bring it up), but Veronica Mars, Reba, they made One Tree Hill a midseason once. And that's just to name a few. I honestly have to say I'm not surprised. I don't really watch anything on the CW anymore.
At the same time, however, I do still watch One Tree Hill. And if something happens to the CW, I'm kinda nervous about what would happen if the CW shut down and One Tree Hill took the brunt of it. That show has gotten better with time, if you ask me, and it deserves to run the time it needs. I think fans would be disappointed if something happens. It would be Gilmore Girls all over for me again, only not quite so dramatic. (Seriously, I think we deserved to have Luke and Lorelai back together for a bit, not just a two second kiss. That really upset me.)
Anyways, I just wanted to put that out there. I don't really care what happens to the CW, since I have a firm belief (no matter what is said about contract issues) that Amy Palladino would have stayed, and Lauren and Alexis by extension, if they had stayed on the WB. They knew that GG was one of their top rated shows and gave them the courtesy they deserved. But I DO care about what happens to One Tree Hill. I think the actors and fans deserve a good sendoff when it does come time for it to end, not because their network is shut down for low ratings.
