Dear Consumer:

You might think buying a 360 to play Tekken 6 and FFXIII will cost you less than buying a playstation 3 and the two games but the truth is, it's not. After doing simple math, you'll get a larger total when buying a playstation 3 and the two games of course but let me tell you that you're forgetting something.

#1 The cost of reparing a 360 after getting damaged which is very likely to happen costs more than buying a safer and a more secure system such as the playstation 3. If you run out of warrenty, you might need to get a new 360 but what if the new 360 stopped working? Would you buy a new one just to keep playing games? Suppose a cheap 360 costs $200 add to that the expenses of an HDVD player, what if that new $200 stopped working? Will you buy "another" 360 to buy games which are already available on a durable and more powerful system which already comes with not only a HDVD player, but a Blurray player?

#2 Who said the 360 has more games? Biased websites and ads make it look like the 360 "has a bigger library" when the truth is it doesn't. The only difference is that the 360 is getting games EARLIER than some consoles like ps3 and PC. Most of upcoming games on it will be available soon on the above mentioned systems. And not only that, extra content will be available in some games.

#3 Let's not forget the fact that you're still forced to pay to get your 360 online even if you weren't going to use it but getting your ps3 online doesn't cost a cent.

Which one costs more now?

Wow, what'd the 360 do to you?

Well, true, if you want it as multimedia the PS3 is cheaper, and better than a standalone Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player (RIP). But then again, if your 360 breaks down, Microsoft is obligated now to fix it free for you for 3 years from date of purchase, so that's not really fair to say that making it cost more (aside from your downtime). Also, the 360 just has more games (most likely due to it being out earlier), it has more exclusives too, which is the key point. And even if they are also on the PC, they aren't on the PS3.

But you're 100% right about the PSN being free vs. paying for Xbox Live. But you could also say that the PS3 doesn't come with HD cables, HDMI or Component. And I'm not pro 360, I'm on my 3rd one, just saying the facts.

More flop RPGs you mean? They're not as decent as Disagea 3 and Folklore. How so they're "obliged" to fix damaged systems when they have the worst customer service?
Posted Oct 9, 2008 9:14 am PT
I didn't say the RPGs were good, they just have more (be honest, you're still playing last gen RPGs, I know I am). And the customer service doesn't have to be good, you're right again. But the fact is that the 360 is still the "cheaper alternative", in every sense of the word.
Posted Oct 9, 2008 10:06 am PT
^ I never had any problem with customer service, i just went on Xbox.com and they sent me my box the next day. They also gave me a 1 month XBL card so i woudnt say that you loose any money if your xbox breaks. So "worst customer service" isnt true.

I have both, and I love my 360 more then my PS3
Posted Oct 9, 2008 10:12 am PT
1. the cost of system repairs is absolutely free for 3 years and the customer service since the 1 billion dollar overhaul is excellent. The whole process takes about 5 working days to get a box, ship it off and get a system in return. If you want to look at CS debacles you should look no further than the PS2's DDE and how Sony never did anything to help the customer with that.

2. The 360 does have more games. XBLA has more games than PSN. There's more JRPG's on 360 than PS3, more shooters, more action adventure games, more WRPG's and the system had a year head start to build a library worth of games.

3. XBL costs a Mcdonald's Meal a month or a pack of cigarettes depending on your vice. It's also a much more robust service...there's a phrase that says "You get what you pay for" and that's never more true than in this situation.

If you want to attack the 360 you should use facts like how MS's first and second party devs are unable to make anything good besides Halo spinoffs and Maybe Fable 2 while Sony has Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword and LBP

I don't have either I prefer my ps2
Posted Oct 9, 2008 10:52 am PT
Well I am not a console gamer but from what I have heard from my friends, PS3 supposed to be more robust than 360. But it also seems to me that there are more games for 360 than for PS3. One of them is Mass Effect for example. Another one is Kotor. PS3 gamers have missed both these fun game.
Posted Oct 9, 2008 11:14 am PT
Well, I don't care about online play in general, but the 360 has a far stronger online lineup, so there's a great incentive to pay for it. Don't have an HD TV, so Blu-ray doesn't matter either to me. I already own a 360, and PS3s are ridiculously expensive in the UK,so.....
Posted Oct 9, 2008 12:14 pm PT
Each console appeals to a different gamer. Let's say i love online shooters and want to play the most hardcore iterations of that genre....the ps3 does not deliver as well as the 360 when it comes to that. If i wanted a more rpg approach (though the rpgs offered as exclusives on the ps3 aren't normally my type) i would lean more towards the ps3. Frankly, i have all three major consoles right now and i am more of an adventure gamer (tomb raider is my fav!) than anything else, yet i hardly play my ps3 or wii as much as my 360. Both of these consoles have disappointed me with there releases. I can count on my fingers how many games that are on the ps3 and wii i am interested in or have seriously played, but the 360...well let's just say i would need more than two hands to count the games i enjoy on it. Then again, it stills comes down to your preference. What i would like to see sony release is some more jak and daxter, sly cooper, heavenly sword, and uncharted!
Posted Oct 9, 2008 12:45 pm PT
i take it PS3 FTW? i liked the original xbox but if there only existed it and the PSX i would take the psx regardless of what anyone says...which show my lack of faith in microsoft....i've always been a sony fanboy and will remain one, i enjoy playing the 360 as i have at my friends house but i think that the ps3 and its game engine, along with free online services is clearly superior, though not in every way the 360......
Posted Oct 9, 2008 12:45 pm PT
PSN is free xbox live is not - PS2 need repairs so rarely as to not be an issue.

360 need it so frequently as to be a main concern for the gamers.

there are very few exclusives now for any system.

The 360 has more mainly when fanboys attempt to change the meaning of words.

If a game is out on more than one system such as the 360 and the PC then it is NO longer an exclusive.

Except when you want to alter reality in a system wars type argument.
Posted Oct 9, 2008 2:03 pm PT
I was going to type my own statement, but I'll just quote this guy because it was roughly what I was going to say:

"1. the cost of system repairs is absolutely free for 3 years and the customer service since the 1 billion dollar overhaul is excellent. The whole process takes about 5 working days to get a box, ship it off and get a system in return. If you want to look at CS debacles you should look no further than the PS2's DDE and how Sony never did anything to help the customer with that.

3. XBL costs a Mcdonald's Meal a month or a pack of cigarettes depending on your vice. It's also a much more robust service...there's a phrase that says "You get what you pay for" and that's never more true than in this situation."

I have both consoles, in any case.

Sorry sister, I love you and all gamingqueen but I have to go against just about all you've said here:

1- the #1 reason you gave was just simply pathetic, I know 3 of my friends who have a 360 (2 of them are launch consoles) and none of them had to get it to be repaired, they're still running fine for all I know. This problem was clearly blown out of proportion and I'm getting my 360 with a warranty just in case (like I do with all of my consoles) so this problem won't actually be a problem for me or any consumer who knows how to buy.

2- There IS more games on 360 and much more AAA games, The 360 had a full year start and I don't know anybody who's remotely sane who would say the opposite, especially compared to the PS3.

3- I'll give you that but the 360's online is just about the best thing in online play for video games, please don't compare. Personally I don't think 50$ for a full year is much but that's just me.
Posted Oct 9, 2008 2:42 pm PT
No matter the price I will be getting the PS3 before I ever get a 360.
Posted Oct 9, 2008 3:09 pm PT
I have both. My PS3 has no problems and I am on my second 360, we got another one through the warranty we bought but I prefer PS3.
Posted Oct 9, 2008 3:12 pm PT
PS3 > 360 enough said... ill let time speack for itself
Posted Oct 9, 2008 3:34 pm PT
Very good blog.. having suffered through multiple XBOX360 failures(3 of 5 have failed) while still on my first PS3 I can back up your viewpoints through personal experience. Anyways, Tekken 6 and FF XIII on the 360 was predictable to say the least.. I just find it funny how xbots are not so willing to bring up the fact that Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 will be on the PS3 as well.. funny how certain people have selective memory isn't it? In the end.. anything worth playing has largely been on BOTH systems.. third party exclusivity is a dying commodity.. in the end the only real difference is one has Blu-Ray built in while the other will need an add-on.
Posted Oct 9, 2008 8:12 pm PT
well i do not own both but from what i heard from my friends aren't the ps3 games more expensive than x360's?
Posted Oct 10, 2008 1:33 am PT
To smeruls since you were wise assing on me
-The number of 360 malfunctioning on consumers proves that it's not a singualr case and that there's a big flaw in the way the system was designed. Add to that the modifications MS is intending to add on the system in order to avoid more damages.
-Paying $7 bucks monthly to get your system online is still expensive. It's like paying to test a product when it should be for free. Psychologically, it has a negative effect on consumers.
-The exlusives you mentioned are either flops or are available on PC and PS3.

hahaha check game stop or where ever u go and u will see how much cheaper the 360 is.It has a far bigger libary and ur not forced to pay for live u get a free month trial to test itout and last time i checked 8 million people thinks its worth paying for.Not to mention all the exclusive download content that comes out for 360.Dont get so angry coz u lost dmc4,ff13 andnow tekken. But tekken and ff13 are the kings of there genres so i suppose i wud be angry aswell.
Posted Oct 10, 2008 8:15 am PT
I just think the Xbox 360 is more expensive, maybe not the actual system itself but you have to buy so many add ons like wireless adapter, movie player add ons and you have to pay to play Xbox live. With the money you spend on Xbox Live you can buy more games with that money. The PS3 already comes with all that. The Xbox 360 has to many problems so you have to buy warranty after the free microsoft one expires so that's even more money. The Xbox games don't interest me that much. Any games that interest me on Xbox are also on PS3 too. Even if the Xbox 360 has more games, I think that is because it's been out longer but I think the PS3 can still catch up because the PS3 gets better and better.

I think the PS3 is a better system overall.

This is all my opinion of course so you don't have to agree with me.
Posted Oct 10, 2008 8:48 am PT
yes the number of 360's failing is high but when you have a warrantee for 3 years it doesn't add anything to the cost of a 360 and you even get free months of XBL for the troubles, so really whenever your system breaks, they give you 7 dollars.

When you buy a 360 you do get a free month free, then a lot of the big name games also come with free cards such as Halo, Gears, GTA IV... I've had two systems break and bought a lot of bigname games, I almost have a 1/2 a year of free XBL. Then when it's only $50, that's less than the price of a game. I know that I buy at least 3-4 games that I don't actually enjoy each year. If I cut out just one of those games, I'll have paid for my XBL for the year and I'm able to experience something far better than PSN.

And PC gaming and console gaming is not in competition. When NPD data comes out they list console sales and console video game sales and throw the PC data to the side. In the console wars of things, the titles that are exclusive to the 360 console are just as impressive as the ones on PS3. You will never be able to enjoy Mass Effect 1 (not sure on 2 yet), Never enjoy Gears of War 1 or 2, Never enjoy Halo 3 or recon, or Fable 2. All of these games listed are great games.

Yes the 360 has flops like Too Human, but then the PS3 has Lair. For Kameo you have Haze so there are sucky exclusives on both sides.

I own everything. I have a PS3, Wii, 360 and a high end gaming PC. I'm not hurting for games and I wouldn't slander a system with lies or half-truths just because I don't have it.

Hey Queeny Sorry its been a long time since I commented on a blog of yours but this one I caught just in time. I have done a couple of past blogs on this subject and I agree with the topic just have a different set of examples than you. I like the PS3 more than the 360 (and yes i have both) for a more reasons than I can name here. You can tell when there is someone who comments and they dont have either system. I wont go into why the PS3 is better than the 360 here. Ill do it in another blog of mine. The fact is the 360 does cost more to ENJOY than the PS3 does. 1. Both systems have HDDs, but only the 360 elects to sell a system without one. and lests face it YOU NEED A HDD ON A 360!! if you think you dont then your a fool. I mean if you aint got XBL then why even have a 360. 2. One selling points of the 360 was that it was HD movie capbale ....Well we see where that is now! and if it was your CHOICE to buy one then youre now OUT of $200. 3. If you want to make you system wireless (WiFi)its going to cost you.....I know what your think (well i dont so THERE!!) well I did! on my just recent trip to VA when I stayed in a hotel and the only way to get online was wireless. Guess which system when online effortlessly PS3 or the 360? If you said 360 you are retarded and dont own one! In conclusion I more than think the queen is right although I like both of my systems IMO the PS3 cost less to FULLY enjoy.

armyman_22 : You might as well factor in the cost of the lack of an HD cable that the PS3 doesn't come with unlike the 360. Second, even with a hard drive, a 360 is about 100$ cheaper. Third, I could easily factor in the cost of each Blu-Ray I want to watch to say it costs more to get THE MOST out of a PS3. I don't even use XBox Live, and never even play games on the PSN, I sure download stuff from it, but then again that's another story. So let me spell it out like this...

Xbox 360 : 299$ USD gets you the console and a 60 gig hard drive plus HD cables and a headset and a month of free Xbox Live

Playstation 3 : 399$ USD gets you the console (with everything in it), NO HD cables, and free PSN.

Now since the games are equally priced and the controllers are as far as I know (unless you buy the wired 360 controller), this makes the 360 the defacto cheaper console to play games in high definition. You don't need online to play games. You don't need an HDTV to play games even, but to do it in High Def, you need to spend more for the PS3. Now over the course of the lifetime of the system, if you are an online gamer, it takes a little over 2 years to make up the difference in price. At that point, the PS3 is cheaper, but only if you use Xbox live. The 360 gets 3 years free repairs, that does not count. When you have to pay extra to keep it running, then let's talk, but no one's warranty on the planet has expired yet, seeing has it's not been 3 years since it's release. Yes, the HD-DVD drive was extra, yes movies are extra on both systems, you could add gold rims to a Honda Civic and it would cost more than a Bentley if we want to play that game of adding accessories.

Now I can argue the quality of games all day, that's half the fun of discussing games, but there is no doubt that when it comes down to it, the Xbox 360 is still the cheapest system to buy out there of those two, and everyone does not need everything to fully enjoy a given system.

lol it feels as if u r a pucca sony fan girl anyways me2 i'd prefer ps3 over 360
Posted Oct 10, 2008 12:15 pm PT
360 is good.. but i prefer ps3. Y do u have 360 so much?
Posted Oct 10, 2008 12:20 pm PT
id say to Semimaster--if you say it cost money to get Blu ray to enjoy the PS3 then you might as well say it cost more to buy games to enjoy either system.....or to enjoy a DVD player it cost more money! Fact of the matter is your going to buy something extra for your system the point is by the time you finish with the 360 to fully enjoy it IMO its going to cost more.....Read the blog I just did as I say why there....
Posted Oct 10, 2008 12:38 pm PT
Hey there armyman22
To semrlus:
All the games you listed with the exception of the upcoming halo game are available on PC. The time it takes a 360 exlusive to come out on PC is very short. The three year free warrenty is only available in the us.
Posted Oct 10, 2008 12:39 pm PT
hey queeny looks like youve got quite the debate going on here LMAO
Posted Oct 10, 2008 12:52 pm PT
My point was all things being equal, as at least the 360 and PS3 being PRIMARILY a gaming console, I did not include the price of games. You mentioned having to buy an HD-DVD drive for the 360. You do NOT need that to play games. You do not need a Blu-Ray disc either. The fact is you can add anything you want to the price of a console. I might as well add a cashmere blanket to perch my PS3 on while I'm at it to make it more expensive. You told me to read your point, I think you are missing the point entirely. And I said as an overall multimedia center (Which includes gaming), I said the PS3 was cheaper, very first post in GQ's blog. That cannot be denied (why do you think the Wii sold so much and still sells so well for 249$ when the games on it by and large suck horribly?). But to be able to simply buy it, take it home and play a game, the 360 is cheapest. There is no denying this either.
Posted Oct 10, 2008 1:32 pm PT
GQ - you want to compare consoles so we're comparing consoles. Gears of War, Halo 3, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect are console exclusive to the 360. you won't find those games on any system directly competing with the 360.

plus you don't need an HDDVD drive to watch HD movies on a 360...you just download them, and with Netflix about to expand that number in a month, it's still smarter to have a 360
Posted Oct 10, 2008 1:55 pm PT
Man! I'm confuse which next gen console i will get! Aaaahhh!!
Posted Oct 10, 2008 3:07 pm PT
I agree, but only partially. The fact that the hardware reliability of the 360 is so poor (with a failure rate of about 1 in 3) takes it out of my wanted list which it is a shame because the software lineup of the 360 is really good and outside of a few exclusive, a lot of it's titles are also available on PS3. But the 360 does have more games, but it is only natural since it came out a year before but PS3 is catching up. As for HDTV, movie playback or online gaming I could not care less. I only care about the games, period. And on that criteria alone I would pick a PS3 because the lineup of games coming up for that system appeal to me more than what is coming on 360 right now, but that is just my personal taste.
Posted Oct 10, 2008 4:18 pm PT
"Dear consumer" lol that was so funny.
GQ long time no see, nice blog, you put some debate, I love it but I have to disagree on somethings.

1- I completely agree on the failure rate, they didn't fix the problem yet and what makes it worse that MS knew about the problem before launch, the warranty exists only in the U.S, although my 360 ( launch console ) doesn't have any problem yet ( knock on wood heheh )

As far as Blu-ray vs HD-DVD, yes the Blu-ray matter more than HDDVD now but at the same time who cares about HD movies? only movies fanatics so I think people who wants to play games are not forced to pay for it.

2- While it is partially true, That is something I disagree with, the games are coming first on the 360 which is way better than waiting 1 year to play the same game and it has more exclusives than PS3 but the gap is becoming smaller evey year.

Let me make an example, in the PS2 era almost all of the multi-console games were released first on the PS2, it is a big advantage for gamers to enjoy games first, MGS3 went to the original Xbox, did it matter after a year of release? no, sales wise and exclusive wise, MGS3 is playstation property still, when someone mentions playstation games, MGS series come to mind, same goes with 360, when someone mentions 360 Gear of War, Bioshock, Eternal Sonata and all games that came to PC or PS3 later are almost irrelevant.

3- I agree on this, paying for live is pointless and I demand making it free just like PSN.

I prefer the PS3 simply because of points 1 and 3, as far as games goes, both is the only way to enjoy gaming this generation of consoles, it is becoming just like Nintendo and Sega in the past, it was the only way to go if people wanted to enjoy games, Sega master system, genesis, nes and snes were the only way to go in the old days.

PS3 ROCKS!!!!!!!! no choice
Posted Oct 10, 2008 10:44 pm PT
LOL@ Haze: ya3nee 3azeezee el mostahlik xD Anyways, Haze the games which come later on ps3 and PC has extra content in them.
Posted Oct 11, 2008 9:56 am PT
I stopped caring a long time ago. People will defend whichever. They share 90% of their titles anyways. I have a PS3 because of that 10% that the 360 has the huge titles come to PC within a year (exept for Halo 3 for now and Epic WILL bring GeOW 2 to PC idc what they say).

And well for that 10% I'm buying a laptop for Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, Starcraft II, Crysis so why not play games the 360 has on the laptop.. it will look buttloads better on a mobile 9800gts video card.
Posted Oct 11, 2008 9:32 pm PT
PC>PS3>360 for me. But eh I must say if I were an ignorant console exclusive fool who lacked PC knowledge, I actually would buy a 360 over PC and PS3. Rather you want to mention it or not, 360 is an excellent combo of PC style games for the masses and console style gaming. But still.. thank god I'm no ignorant fool when it comes to PC gaming .
Posted Oct 11, 2008 9:36 pm PT
lol just to throw this out there the blu ray isnt as high spec as the sperate players.
Posted Oct 12, 2008 4:20 am PT
I'm inclined to agree that the PS3 is at least a better value than the 360, although the price of the HD-DVD player add-on is irrelevant in my opinion. Aside from the fact that it's an optional add-on that doesn't enhance the quality of gaming in any way, most 360 owners purchase their console almost exclusively as a gaming system as opposed to a multimedia entertainment center. It only adds about $50-$60 anyway, so it wouldn't be a big deal even if it was relevant. Add to that the fact that HD-DVD is a dead format, who the hell would buy it anyway?

From my point of view, the lack of a hard drive in the $200 360 Core/Arcade SKU is a much more severe drawback. Granted, 20GB hard drives run at about $50, but how long would that last? I'd consider the much larger 120GB a better investment, but at a price around $150, it almost completely negates the 360's price advantage. Considering that I could upgrade my PS3 to 250GB for less than $100, I call this a ripoff.

As for games, there's no denying that the 360 has more games. With that entire year of lead time that Microsoft gained by skipping QA testing, how could it not? Even without that taken into account, Microsoft's reputation for reaching into their bottomless bank accounts to pay off developers every time a AAA PS3 exclusive makes it's way into the limelight has been legendary since the start of this generation.

Of course, even with the advantage of a larger game library, the quality of those games is entirely subjective. Personally, I found Oblivion and GRAW (which I owned on PC) horrendously boring. Yet, the fanboys in the 360 isle still saw fit to brag out their asses over these games, at least until a year later in Oblivion's case. While I didn't find Gears as boring as the previously mentioned games, it was nonetheless equally overrated.

Concerning online services, I see very little difference between the two services aside from a few extra features on XBL which I wouldn't even use for free, let alone for $50 a year. Overall, PSN is a solid online service that provides me with everything I need as a gamer. While XBL may offer a few more features, at least I don't have to renew a subscription every year just to continue playing online.

For the tl;dr crowd - Sony may have placed a heftier price tag on the PS3, but Microsoft simply took the alternate route of nickel and diming the hell out of their customers. In the end, HD consoles are expensive and anyone who thinks they're getting the cheaper alternative is simply fooling themselves. Regardless of who purchased what console, we all payed out our asses this generation.
Posted Oct 12, 2008 11:40 pm PT
Wow. just wow. Gamingqueen, aren't you a little old for fanboyism? er, or should I say, girlism? hmm I don't know.

ya3nee seriously, Sony could make an announcement to drop all support for the ps3 and you'd still support the console eh? Well quite frankly Sony have lost; instead of taking a leaf out of Nintendo's book they decided to be arrogant and prove that in gaming, three time's NOT the charm.

1. Does it really matter? Blu-ray is, for all intents and purposes, the reason why stupid Sony have lost this gen (other than their arrogance on believing third parties would actually support their expensive console, and forgetting that graphics have NEVER decided the winner of a gen... ah idiotic Sony). I mean blu-ray is really not needed, and it's nowhere near the advancement and leap of VCR to DVD. Really, only movie aficionados care about this. And there's also the fact that the middle east isn't even carrying blu-ray movies yet. hmph, not that I care.

and while it's extremely annoying that 360's break down on you, their is apparently the warranty thing in the states, so you DON'T have to pay to get MS to fix it. Assuming you paid that extra money for the (what-should-be-free) 3 year warranty.

2. you cannot be more wrong in this respect. To say that the 360 doesn't have more games, when it clearly (and unfortunately) does, is very ignorant, and a desperate attempt to make Sony's loss seem less than it is. And to think that said games will actually come to the ps3... heh, I wish. Face the cold hard truth, they won't

and after all it is too late, no matter how desperately you try to point out that most of the 360's rpg's are mediocre, it won't matter to those crazy Japanese, who buy anything rpg. I mean if Dragon Quest is Japan's number one series when it has barely changed ANYTHING from its formula really tells you about the people there. They see rpgs on the 360, they see it's the cheaper console, and they'll buy it. Waiting around to purchase said games on a more expensive ps3 is a big nono for them. And why should they pay $60+ for non photo realistic games when Sony promised us 1080p? Damn liars.

all in all the 360 is the contender for games, and ps3 is not going to make any form of comeback with their silly Little Big Planet (a game that WILL wear thin after 15 minutes) and two dumb shooters (like the market doesn't have enough of those damn things already; I hate the fact that shooters sell and next gen rpging has been ruined or is non existent). I regret this more than anything

3. 360 has a billion online thingamajigs, as for ps3... well I'm not going to make an account any time soon. Here the ps3 should have been able to knock the 360 out of the water, but if Sony were smart enough to work on it, then they wouldn't be failing this gen in the first place now would they? Hundreds of games could be put on the psn, and that's from the first playstation alone! (no ps2 games will ever see the light of day on ps3 I think, especially when the console's like what, almost STILL outselling its older brother?) I mean you have Square's games like Xenogears (already out on Japan's psn I believe) or Parasite Eve one and two (Why don't SE put this???? They're releasing the third one on psp, it only makes since!) and not to mention the hordes of playstation rpgs.

but NOOOOO, Sony insist on screwing themselves up. I for one hate this gen so much. I mean, how IS M$ able to throw so much money around and still not go bankrupt? From 50 mil on GTA 4 to securing exclusives like Tales of Verspia (my gosh I REALLY hate Namco Bandai) where do they come up with it all? heh, probably from Live's $50 subscription fee eh? I'm just glad I missed out on the ps2 era, b/c now I have a ps2 slim from my friend and am playing all the great rpg's, from FF to KH to... hmm well that's it really hehe (I really only trust games from the 'big name' companies.) Most importantly, it's unfortunate that I put this argument in so late, which is always the case with your blogs. I'll just end off by saying: The average, patriotic consumer won't care that you need rechargeable batteries for their 360, or the fact that it will break down. They care about buying the cheaper and (supposed) better American console, and getting a buttload of shooters for it. Well, I guess I'll just have to wait until next gen and make my purchases more wisely. Even though I'll be too old... (but then again, I'm too old now)

I agree with everything Prominence84 said. Soon, those who bought the cheaper console thinking they will get the same experience owners of ps3 will get will realise that they won't and thatit's only temporary. thetotally: shilsafla? XD kalaitnee bgshoree xD ma sewat 3alay! Anyways, the warrenty is only available for customers inside the U.S.
MS is not focusing on making new exlusives. It's buying other exlusives and that'll hurt it on the long run because the system will not be able to play future games that require larger space and are made specifically for the other system.

but gamingqueen the thing is, there WON'T be any games for "the other console." M$ (those damn *@^%#*) can buy like what, pretty much every game that comes out this entire gen and the next one (WHERE they come up with all that money I don't know, but seeing as Bill Gates has a revenue of 60 billion or so...)

ooh asaf 3ala il i39ab, bes the thing is Sony are the ones who have abandoned their fans, not Nintendo. You still seem to be buying into Sony's desperate "please wait" policy, but in this day and age waiting won't cut it. Plus in our culture we're already too old to be gaming, so 5 years down the line... well I just don't see any opportunities for me to game, as much as I'd like to.

Yeah I already mentioned that M$ only support those in the states (and Europe I suppose). but of course that's the price of being in the Middle-East, the most backwards place in the world. Gaming will never be mainstream here, not when we still have other more pressing issues to overcome (but that's for another debate...)

but then again, we don't have blu-ray movies here either, so a Sony ps3 is practically worthless. (only my total movie geek friend is the one I know that orders tons and tons of blu-ray movies from the states or whio-knows-where)

What really worries me is that FF 13 will not have the best quality it can have (for a game that will come out when I'm married for heaven's sakes!) and that FF vs 13, whatever Nomura says, WILL be multi-plat (M$ and their millions won't take no for an answer) There's also the fact the KH3 will be exclusive to the 360, and when that does happen, you WILL see me jump of off the liberation tower, b/c, quite frankly, I'll be upset (hmmm that DOES seem a little melodramatic... but necessary, quite necessary) So all in all, I'm dissapointed with this gen. Of course, handheld gaming has never been better, so that's at least a plus. And of course I'm still playing ps2 games, so that's good too. I won't have to "wait" for Sony's mediocre games while twiddling my thumbs. 1080p my butt...

The most backwarded place? Exuse me? ohma elee the most backwarded people on earth o moo a7na! Come on I mean! No, the warrenty thingy is not available on Europe as far as I know. And the issue about FFXIII not looking good is because perhaps 360 is not fully capabnle of playing a game with high graphical capabilities.
Blurray is not only used to watch movies on ps3, it's also used for games. It enhances the quality of graphics in games as well as audio and space.
