Hi guys!

It's been a couple weeks since my last blog but I'm still around! I'm just suffering from Blogger's Block I guess I'm pretty busy with my work term, and there's also a bit of a heat wave going on right now. The temperature has been close to the high 30s all week, and all I feel like doing is sleeping on a beach...

To top it all off, Hurricane Bill has decided to take a trip to Atlantic Canada tomorrow. The city where I live is going to be hit worse than where my parents live, so I've decided to visit them for the weekend It shouldn't be too bad though. Mostly rain and wind but I'm guessing the power might go out.

-Gaming Stuff-

I didn't get a chance to hunt any more Resident Evil trophies (or even turn on my PS3 ) since my last blog. I played a bit of WoW, but that's about it for gaming progress. Hopefully when my work term is over, I'll have more gaming time.

PS3 Slim

slim.jpg PS3 Slim picture by gamergirl_15

I'm not very excited about Sony's new version of the PS3. I'm happy that more people are planning to buy a PS3 because of it, but it looks like I'm going to be stuck with the "fat" PS3 (deja vu of the PS2 ). I hate it when companies decide to make different versions of the same console!

Gaming Budget

dk.jpg DK 64 picture by gamergirl_15

Since I'm broke until I get my diploma and find a full time job (unpaid work terms don't pay bills unfortunately ), I'm going to try and clear some of the older games in my collection I've forgotten about, instead of buying new ones. I have quite a few (Donkey Kong 64, Resident Evil 0... the list goes on!), so that should keep me busy until I find a job.

-GameSpot Updates-

Leveled up to 29 - Radiant Silvergun. I also got my second new emblem of the year! I missed collecting emblems.

-Life Updates-

Tons of stuff going on! And it all seems to be happening at once...

ctv.jpg CTV picture by gamergirl_15

First off, my work term at a local TV station is going awesome! I've been there for two weeks now and I've already fixed two broken TVs and a set of head phones. The TVs weren't essential or anything (I know they aren't going to trust the intern with anything vital ) but it gave me a sense of accomplishment by fixing them. My boss always buys me a coffee every morning too!

I was kind of worried I chose the wrong program in college, but if my full time job is anything like this, I know I'm on the right career path. I should also have a good chance of landing a job after I finally graduate. There is pressure for the industry to hire more women, so looks like I'm jumping into the job market at the right time. I'm the only woman in the Engineering Department at CTV right now too so I hope other places are the same.

My work term might get cut short though. Right now, I'm waiting on a blood test and should be getting surgery within the next 3 weeks. If that happens, I can't finish my work term. The blood test is to rule out something more serious so I'm kind of nervous about the results. My doctor said I shouldn't lose any sleep over it though. I also can't go back to work at the Army Reserves until after the surgery. That's another reason why my gaming budget is so tight I'm going to worry about my senior year project at college after all this is over. Then it's job hunting time... Then I have to get my wisdom teeth out.

Yeah, things are pretty crazy right now! I wish I didn't have this health issue in the middle of everything else, but I guess that's how life goes.

Have a great week!

Congrats with the new emblem . I hope nothing bad with your blood result gives hugs to make you feel better . Good Luck with your term paper as well, for me I'm still be in college in 2014 getting masters degree so I'm going to college straight. I'm a sophmore in college .

Glad to hear all's well and you'll be avoiding Bill.

I can't be too upset about the new PS3 personally, because I own a fully backwards compatible 60gb. I'd only be jealous if this new model had the PS2 chipset put back into it, but even then, I've already been enjoying my PS3 almost 2 years now, and theres no way I could have waited until now to own one.

I might just get that Slim PS3 just incase my 40gig dies on me.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 6:07 pm PT

Posted Aug 22, 2009 6:08 pm PT
Wow I'm so out of the loop I didn't even know there was a hurricane out East .. lol. I'm further West. But yea, take care and you might find it advantageous to fill a bath tub with water and plug it securely so you have fresh water in case the power goes out for an extended period of time. That's more for floods but you never know. Also congrats on your leveling up
Posted Aug 22, 2009 6:33 pm PT
ur from halifax?! because I'm from there
Posted Aug 22, 2009 7:33 pm PT
Welcome to the bloggers block club, I've been dealing with it in the last couple of days. I hope everything goes well with that hurricane. Congrats for the new level and...emblem.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 8:13 pm PT
Well i hope your safe from hurricane bill, lol there running out of names. I also hate when they redesign system models as well, it makes me feel like i have the old obsolete one.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 8:19 pm PT
glad you're doing okay and hope you feel better soon !
Posted Aug 22, 2009 10:03 pm PT
sux it might get cut short it sounds like fun while it lasts though
Hope its nothing serious
Posted Aug 22, 2009 10:19 pm PT
Congrats on your level up. I wish you all the best in all your endeavors. The ps3 slim looks slick, I want one. I might pick one up during the winter holidays, if I've got some spare cash.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 10:28 pm PT
Bill's here.....muahahaha !
Posted Aug 22, 2009 10:42 pm PT
I'm not sure how serious those hurricanes are since I'm safely tuck away from such weathers, but I'm glad you'll be away from the worst of it.
PS3 slim, yay! Awesome work term, yay! But all the best for your blood test result. Stay cool, and healthy.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 10:46 pm PT
I'm on a gaming budget right now too.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 10:52 pm PT
Dude, why doesn't the hurricanes leave North America Alone! I am tired! Cool u work at a TV station? As for the new PS, it looks ughly, I am just glad I got the older ones.

u work at CTV! awesome, i am heading up north this november, maybe i'll catch ur channel or even give a surprise visit! What kind of surgery r u having? Damn, hope it goes well. And yes i need ur help getting platinum!
Posted Aug 22, 2009 11:43 pm PT
@s84: you gave me a weird sense of deja vu.
Posted Aug 22, 2009 11:51 pm PT
Best of luck riding out those hurricanes. There were some tornadoes the other day near where I lived..Thankfully we only got some rain. The town 15 minutes away from us was not that lucky though.

Wow you sound like a regular Ms. Fixit. I might just hire you to fix some stuff where I work. Everythings broken. Best of luck with your blood test.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 12:29 am PT
oh yea. I heard about hurricane bill. There was a tornado in my city last week.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 12:31 am PT
It's quite unlucky to have a hurricane passing by your area, even if it isn't anything major (the power still has a high chance of going out like you pointed out). At least it's supposed to be weaker at your parents' place!

I do hope your blood tests end up being nothing major. Having a health issue in the middle of all those other things seem like quite a hindrance. Let's hope for the best!

I kinda like it when compnays make different version of consoles. Give you better options if the thing breaks down...now if they take features out of the new versions (looks at PS2 compatiblity).

I guess many people lost interest in emblem collecting after the new GS layout wouldn't allow them to show it off I read/watch about the Hurricanes in North America and it seems to be a terrible nature catastrophe There are lots of good budget games one can find in Game shops. I am sure you will find something to your taste too.

Don't worry about the health issue and the operation. Most illnesses can be cured now, even the ones people are most scared of.

Writers Block eh, I seem to have been getting that as of late, I guess its mainly attributed to the lack of game releases. The new price drop is great news for many, and I am really glad that it was timed before the holiday period as it will help sell a lot of consoles. Good move by Sony.

Congrats on leveling up, and getting the emblem too.

On another note, I hope that your blood test goes well, I really do.

I am looking forward to the new slim PS3 also. The current model is much too big. Add to that my 80G has no support fot the PS2.Is the slim version going to fix that issue? I have read a bit about the new model but no one has addressed(in the press) this issue. Also the memory card slots should be put back in.It's good to hear all is going well for you. iwant some new emblems too but can't seem to get them. Oh well.

Hurricane Bill? "It's already here!!" (quote from Twister ) It is blowing like a mad **** and raining just as hard here But I have internet and power, so im fine!

The slim looks kewl, but I'm in the same boat. My fatty will be staying on my shelf. Actually... to think of it, I had a PS2 (original) and my PSP is an original too... I guess I like my systems with some beef to em

DK64 is brutal! I loved it. Gaming on a budget isn't really that bad. I've been praticing the whole "Dun spend money on games" ideals for a good little bit now and it works very well. I also suggest checking bargain bins, ebgame and such as you can nab games for $10-20 that give you a whole tonne of enjoyment, no need to think about blowing $70 for 1 game. Playing older, unbeaten (or just replaying) games is also a great alternative.

Glad to hear your job is going well and thus far CTV is still on the air! Steve Murphy looks like he's had his meals tho You gotta start stealing them like we discussed!

Sound's like a busy time gurl, best of luck with it all

I saw that hurricane Bill has gone down though to just being a storm but it still is bad though. I have same feelings as you do when it comes to the PS3 slim. And that sounds like a fun thing to do to go back and play some old games. But keep up your spirits though and you have a great week too.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 9:08 am PT
Sounds like a action packed life you've got there.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 9:28 am PT
Don't worry about your blood test. Doctors tend to be very dramatic . You will come thru it fine. I believe this. Anyway, Super awesome great quote!!!
Posted Aug 23, 2009 9:52 am PT
Donkey Kong 64 was a classic, and brings back memories. There hasn't been a true Donkey Kong game since then.

Good luck with your job, and I can't wait to see you on TV! What videogame character do you look like the most?
Posted Aug 23, 2009 12:19 pm PT
I hope you are safe at your parents' house. Do let us know how everything goes. Take care.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 12:27 pm PT
hope hurricane Bill dies before it hits Canada. Fat ps3 actually looks better than slim ps3. Its shiny and it has touch sensitive buttons.
I choose the wrong program too, engineering just wasnt for me, now im going into programming more gaming related. Hope your surgery goes well.

gaming on budget rox
Since i have, i been looking at getting PS1 classics on the PSN for my PSP & PS#
still need Metal Gear Solid 1(that demo back in the day rocked) and Bloody Roar 1(fighting, blood, animal transformations? i love it!) wish they would have made BR2 available instead

@hintaki: Thanks! I hope it turns out okay too *hugs* Sounds like you have a lot of studying ahead of you. Good luck with your Masters Degree!

@TheKungFool: Bill is actually gone now. He didn't do as much damage as people were predicting. I wish I would have waited until this year to buy as PS3!

@bigmouthkid: I might do the same if mine crashes

@NuKkU: The Atlantic Ocean usually sucks the life out of hurricanes so it's weird to see one so strong make it here. I'll be sure to check out your blog!

@GunnyHath: I don't pay much attention to the weather either. The media went into a frenzy here, so it was hard to not hear anything Thanks!

@Nightmare-_-: I'm orignally from Hants County, but I moved here for school. It's a nice city!

@canana: Hope you cure your Blogger's Block soon Thanks!

@Gohansephiroth: I agree! Bill is a strange name for a hurricane

@Allicrombie: Thanks!

@HawkGamer2008: I just wish I was getting payed for it I hope it's nothing serious too.

@s84: Thanks! Enjoy the PS3 slim when you get it!

@Chirodip_08: He's gone now though

@mufujifi: We usually don't get many hurricanes here, but the waters are starting to warm up, making more come. Thanks!

@soulless4now: I hate budgets
Posted Aug 23, 2009 5:17 pm PT
@Gamer_4_Fun: It actually did less damage than people were predicting. Hopefully it will be the last hurricane for a while. I'm only doing my work term at CTV, but I'm hoping the hire me after it. Feel free to drop buy! I don't really want to go into details about the surgery, but you can PM me if you really want to know. You and s84 almost have the same avatar

@siberian142: I think tornadoes are more scary than hurricanes! Thankfully we don't get them up here. I might be able to fix my Xbox 360 if it ever decides to crash. I love being Ms. Fixit Thanks!

@Kennybenny15: Hope the tornado didn't do too much damage!

@Platyphyllum: It's over now. It only knocked out power for 2 hours at my parents. Ironically, the power didn't go out at all at my house... Oh well. Thanks!

@PJ24: I guess I just wish they would release them around the same time so people aren't stuck with a version they aren't happy with.

@khatibi22: I do miss the old way emblems were displayed Bill wasn't too bad but some of them can pack quite a punch. I forgot about cheap discount games. Thanks!

@david_lck: I'm glad it will mean more sales for Sony! I hate to see any gaming company go out of business (not that Sony is in any danger of that ). Thanks!

@zinoalex: People have been saying it is PS2 compatible, but I haven't head anything official from Sony either. Thanks! I've missed out on a lot of emblems this year too.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 5:18 pm PT
@hush404: And now he's gone! I'm back in Halifax now and it turns out the power didn't go off at all where I live, but it did at my parents house How did you guys make it through Bill? I can't believe I still haven't beat DK 64 yet! I should definitely check out EB games too. Operation: Steal Murphy's Lunch is still in progress. He always seems to run off with it before I get a chance to take it Thanks!

@Colmillios: It wasn't nearly as bad as the media was forecasting it to be. I guess they just like making news Thanks! Great new avatar by the way!

@gamer-clemm: A little too action packed

@katamari: I hope your right! Thanks. Homer Simpson is my favourite TV character to quote

@ProtegeRuckus: I wish they would come out with another great DK game. Thanks! I'm going to try harder to grab some air time. I like to think I look like Ada, but probably not even close

@chandu83: It's actually over now, and it wasn't bad at all. Thanks!

@furqan2006: Bill wasn't nearly as powerful as I was expecting! I was worried about all the Calculus stuff, but turns out I really don't need it to find a job. Hope your new program at college works out better for you. Thanks!

@HawkGamer2008 (again): I guess it's a good opportunity to play some of the games I missed. Bloody Roar sounds awesome!

Speaking of the PS3, I may convince my parents to get me one after I graduate from college. I do hope it happens.

Sounds like you're having some fun at the TV station.
Posted Aug 23, 2009 6:46 pm PT
I'm going to be stuck with a "fat" PS3 as well.

Congradulations on the new Emblem and leveling up! I tried to get the emblem but must have missed the time window for it!! I will pray for you and yours that the hurricane will stop coming towards you all and just fade away! Please write back soon and let us all know that you are alive and well after the storm, if it hits!

The PS3 Slim looks and is great for gamers who didn't have a chance to buy the original PS3. I also won't be buying the Slim version because I'm quite happy playing with my "Fat" one Congrats on the emblem...I saw TOTS but got no emblem
Posted Aug 24, 2009 7:18 am PT
No problem, Btw i added you on PSN
Posted Aug 24, 2009 6:08 pm PT

@Gamer_4_Fun: Adawong15

@Nightmare-_-: There aren't many of us Maritimers here on GS Nice to meet you too!

@SonicHomeboy: Hope you can convince them I'm really hoping the TV station hires me after my work term.

@msudude211: At least I won't be the only one

@beutlich99: Thanks

@soulless4now: I got a couple hundred on my list too

@Sandpiper121PP: Thanks! Sorry to hear you missed out on the emblem. Luckily, the hurricane did a lot less damage than they were predicting. The power only went out for a couple hours at my parents house and that was it. It could have been a lot worse so I'm thankful

@HawkGamer2008: Bunny girls...? Maybe I don't want to play that game after all

@herviross_2: The fat PS3 is shinier too @furqan2006: I haven't turned my PS3 on lately, but I'll add you when I'm online again.

@Kennybenny15: I know!
