1. The SIMS (working title)
Personally, this will proabbly end up in the bad idea pile. How can you make a movie based on a game with no plot? -
2. Resident Evil
Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Eric Mabius, James Purefoy, Martin CrewesI watched this movie after Resident Evil Apocalypse. While this is an awesome movie, you must remember it has no real connection to the video game series' main plot. This will always be one of my favs -
3. Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Directed by: Alex Witt
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Thomas Kretschmann, Sophie VavasseurThis movie got me into the whole Resident Evil game series! Will always be one of my favourite zombie movies. -
4. Doom
Making a movie based on a FPS is definitely a challege. Most people consider it an ok movie based on an awesome game. -
5. Mortal Kombat
Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson
Starring: Robin Shou, Linden Ashby, Bridgette Wilson, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Christopher LambertOne of the most popular fighting games was first brought to movie form in this one. Didn't turn out too badly overall. -
6. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
Directed by: John R. Leonetti
Starring: Robin Shou, Talisa Soto, James Remar, Sandra Hess, Brian ThompsonThis Mortal Kombat movie turned out pretty badly. The first attempt was much better. -
7. Mortal Kombat: Devastation (working title)
Directed by: mink
Starring: Linden Ashby, Chris Casamass, Christopher Lambert, Lynn "Red" Williams, Reiner SchöneHopefully, it will turn out better than previous Mortal Kombat movie attempts. Still way too early to tell. -
8. Halo
Directed by: Neill Blomkamp
This one stands a decent chance of turning out great. Halo is a game with a really good plot that should make a interesting movie if done right. -
9. DOA: Dead or Alive
This will probably end up in the bad pile. This movie appears to be targeted towards a male auidence which means: gamer girls like me will stay away, lol. -
10. Resident Evil: Extinction
Directed by: Russell Mulcahy
Starring: Geoff Meed, Jason O'Mara, Christopher Egan, Matthew Marsden, AshantiThe final Resident Evil movie. The 2nd one ended with a cliff hanger so I am really looking forward to seeing thiis one! Hopefully it will turn out as good as the first 2. -
11. House of the Dead
Directed by: Uwe Boll
Starring: Jonathan Cherry, Tyron Leitso, Clint Howard, Ona Grauer, Ellie CornellNote to directors: Not all games make suitable movies. This is a horrible movie but you'd expect that in a movie based on an arcade light gun game. -
12. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Directed by: Hironobu Sakaguchi
Starring: Ming-Na, Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi, Peri GilpinWhile it doesn't stay true to the Final Fantasy game forumla, it has an awesome story and great animation. -
13. Super Mario Bros.
Directed by: Annabel Jankel, Rocky Morton, Roland Joffé, Dean Semler
Starring: Francesca Roberts - DUPLICATE, Kevin West, Frank Welker, Jeffrey Pillars, Wallace MerckSomeone really dropped the ball on this one. The only connection it has to Mario, is the name. -
14. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Directed by: Tetsuya Nomura, Takeshi Nozue
Starring: Kyosuke Ikeda, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Takahiro Sakurai, Keiji Fujiwara, Ryun YuThis is the perfect example of a game movie done right! This is a direct follow up to Final Fantasy VII, and actually wraps the game up quite nicely. -
15. Alone in the Dark
Directed by: Uwe Boll
Starring: Christian Slater, Tara Reid, Stephen Dorff, Frank C. Turner, Matthew WalkerThis is another example of a bad game movie. The script acting, and effects are all horrible.
