I own both.. so this is my "informed" opinion on your situation unlike opinions you will probably hear from fanboys that may surround you. The differences between the systems are pretty negligible in terms of graphics and available games in the future. Like you probably already realize the 360 is a little cheaper, but for Blu-Ray playback you will need an add-on.. and you will have to pay a little extra for rechargeable controller batteries. The PS3 is a little more expensive but has Blu-Ray built in, Wi-Fi built in, and free online which make up for some of the differential in costs. Honestly, if this was early 2007 I would recommend the 360.. but since all the best games come out for both systems nowadays.. I would recommend the PS3 if you appreciate flexibility and most importantly "reliability". Bottomline.. either pay a little more for one PS3, or a pay a little less for most likely multiple XBOX360's over time thanks to unreliable hardware.

I would suggest PS3, like Kingofoldskool said, 360 is cheaper but u might want to pay extra later on for some expenses. PS3 on the other hand, is more like a 1-time payment unless u need to buy an extra controller or something. It has much less break down issues (as far as I have heard from multiple sources) and it has a better security when regarding pirated games. On a last note, while I know that many Xbox fanboys might disagree with me, but PS3 is stronger than 360. Proof? Metal Gear Solid 4 was made only on PS3 and they said that if they want to port it on Xbox, it will need like 3-4 CDs, and Kojima himself said that their r certain parts in the game that can only work on a PS3. Thats a great point bahamat0.. it doesn't make sense for fanboys to base the graphical differences between the two systems on games originally tailored for the 360's specs. MGS 4 is a perfect example of what a game can be if focused purely on the PS3 hardware.

I own both for the different games. Hardware wise the PS3 is my favorite. I'm partial to the GUI, BR, and now that most games are coming out cross-platform its probably the most future proof of the two in terms of an investment. I agree with both King and bahamat0

RIGHT ON!!! Anyway, I was planing to buy PS3 in the first place. I mean SH: Homecoming & God of War III. Those are legendary games & are only on PS3.
