GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con
Friday, Jul 6, 2007

As I mentioned in my last blog, I've been on an abandonware downloading binge lately, and of all the games I've been indulging in the one most fully capturing my imagination at the moment is BloodNet - a cyberpunk-vampire-detective point-and-click adventure.

Anyway, DOSBox - the incomparable DOS emulator - has the ability to capture video of any game you play, and as I near level 10 in the gamespot ranks I thought it might be cool to experiment with this ability and upload some videos, maybe in preparation for an in-depth review of this overlooked game.

I already posted the game's intro in my video section (or you can click here), and I also captured the character creation process while I was playing last night. I think I'll take some gameplay footage and record a few of the more memorable moments and then edit it and upload. Fun stuff. I'd like to learn how to add an audo track on top of the video, in order to add my own commentary. Anyway, I'm rambling, but the gist (gyst? jist? jyst?) of it is that I have a new toy to play with, and yea - it is fun.

Hey, that game looks great! 1994 release and it looks great! I saw the video too. I'm a sucker for cyberpunk (just started reading W. Gibson's "Neuromancer") so now I'm interested. Looking forward to the review!

You're in for a treat, man. I haven't actually read Neuromancer, for some reason, but the rest of the Sprawl Trilogy (Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive) is damn good. I loved Count Zero, in particular. Reading Gibson just gives you so many insights on the development of modern science fiction, too. You just drop your jaw when faced with realization after realization regarding where people like the Wachowski Brothers got so much of their inspiration from.

I think your abandonware binge may lead to a binge of my own. I'm downloading Bloodnet right now in fact. It looks super. I think Bioforge is next. P.S. Shouldn't you be guarding stuff?

Guarding? Gar-deeng? I'm not following you, man.

*dicks around on the internet for another 4 hours*
