It has nearly a month since my last blog. I really haven't been up to much. I've been spending a ton of time with my girlfriend, reading, watching movies, playing games and exercising.

~ Girlfriend ~

We are coming up on 15 weeks together and neither of us could be happier (well, there are plenty of things that would make us happier, but none of them are in the cards right now). We get to see each other everyday and hate when we are apart.

~ Reading ~

Ever since I've started reading, I finished The Upanishads trans. by Eknath Easwaran, The Bhagavad Gita trans. by Easwaran, The Dhammapada trans. by Easwaran and have started reading The Mahabharata trans. by John D. Adams, Hindu Myths by Wendy Doniger and want to read The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. But I don't even know if I'll have time to finish The Mahabharata.

~ Movies ~

I've been watching a lot of movies, including going back and revisiting some old Disney cIassics with my girlfriend... but what has been most surprising for me was how much I like the Harry Potter films. My girlfriend wanted to see the new one and wanted me to go with her, so we started watching the movies and we are going to watch the fifth one today. Great movies, makes me want to take Rowling's work back in time and give it to myself as a child... since it came out only a few years after I would have been very interested in it and never gained enough popularity for me to notice it until I was well into high school.

~ Games ~

After Banjo, I bought Dead Space, and have almost lost interest in playing it (I stopped playing it a few days after getting it, but still want to get myself to finish it at some point). It was good in the beginning but got really monotonous after 4 levels. After almost giving up on Dead Space, I got Crackdown. Fantastic game. Very repetitive but incredibly fun. After that I've got some dance pads and am now playing DDR for both fun and weight loss.

~ Exercising ~

I've finally started taking my diet and health seriuosly. I've been gaining weight since leaving work and need to get it under control. So now I'm eating healthy, keeping track of what I'm taking in in a single day (and trying to limit it to 2000-2500 calories) as well as exercising with both an elliptical and DDR (which works up an amazing sweat and is a ton of fun).

Gratz on the girlfriend, keep up the good work champ

That's too bad you didn't like Dead Space, I really want to try it sometime though... But hey, enjoying Crackdown is great, everyone should love it. Glad you do.

Good job with the diet and excercise... Sounds like you're working hard, happy to hear it! I hope it works out well for you.

FF, very glad things are still going well with your lady friend. You didn't like DS? It was one of my favorite games of the last few years. Oh well, different strokes!

@btaylor2404: Its a great game, but the kind of gameplay reminds me a bit too much of Doom 3. I like how its basically the TRUE spiritual successor to System Shock 2 (unlike BioShock, which shares only the "Shock" name and rewritten story). What I have a problem with is that gameplay is just so... the same. I will try to get back into it... but my first impressions were that it was just so repetitive.

I remember having a discussion with you about relationships awhile back. No offense but you sounded miserable being single. It looks like you found yourself a girl and it sounds like you 2 are happy. Congratulations bud. I'm happy for you. It beats the imagination doesn't it? Women are amazing creatures lol.

Stick with Dead Space. It's really good. And yeah, Crackdown was so much fun (never cared for the races, though). And yeah, when I was out of work, I ended up gaining a lot of weight, but am now down to a comfortable 165, and I want it to stay that way.

Thats good to hear about your relationship

And I had the same feeling, I left Dead Space after 4-6 levels too lol.

2,000-2,500 calories still seems like alot. Doesn't it?

Isn't the suggested daily value diet 2,000? Well, I usually refrain from going overboard even 1,300, to be frank. So that 2,000 to 2,500 seems a bit TOO much for me. Also DDR is a good work out, you should give Wii Sports boxing a bit of a workout too. I mean Wii Sports helps out a bit too if you do it right. I also think you should look into Wii Fit if you want to get more serious. Plus remember in general rule you should always change up your routine when exercising. A jog one day, a swim the next, a game of tennis (Real or Wii Sports ) or some aerobics the next. It helps a lot and will reduce your chance of injuring because of overuse on the same muscles for the same routine.

@jg4xchamp: I'm a big guy and the 2000 calorie suggestion is for people of "average" build. No matter how thin I get, I'll never be "average."

My GF situation is pretty much the same. Except we don't get to see each other every day, more like every two weeks Also, glad that you liked the Harry Potter films, I enjoy them too. DDR as a workout, interesting I just swim laps to stay in shape
