Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII:

Gameplay- A bit repetitive so far, really easy, but very unique, I actually like the slot reel things, because it adds a fun randomness effect to everything, and also since it's a fast paced action RPG, that style of gameplay fits very well.

Graphics- Basically what you expect from Final Fantasy, great cutscenes and flashy gameplay, beautiful.

Sound- Pure nostalgia with the remade FFVII tunes.

Value- Im surprised by the fact that the game has a hard mode, once I finish easy mode I think I'll go back and try that, idk yet how many side missions there are though.

Story- I'm not too into it so I can't say much but I'm glad that im finally getting to know certain characters better…best not say exactly who…

Pre-score: 9.3

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow:

Gameplay- Very interesting gameplay, because ive never played a game with this style before in my life.

Graphics- A bit old looking, then again the game itself is old, but a lot of characters do stick out in their appearance, like flying eyeballs and such.

Sound- "Vampirish" and very fitting.

Value- I have no idea how much replay value this game has, I'm hoping for something though.

Story- All I know so far is something about Vampires…oh and Dracula.

Pre-score: 9.0

New Super Mario Brothers:

Gameplay- Basically the same as old Super Mario Brothers gameplay with a few twists here and there.

Graphics- Nothing too impressive but it looks nice with the 3D look.

Sound- Mario music, what else can I say?

Value- Idk how long the game is but Ive heard this game isn't very good in the replay value department.

Story- ha! Save princess Peach >_>

Pre-score: 7.9

So basically I'm loving Crisis Core because of all the FFVII related stuff, I love Dawn of Sorrow because it's so fresh and new to me, and I really like Mario Brothers since I've always loved the series for my whole life, but the game doesn't really do anything new, which I don't mind since I will enjoy it anyway.

Oh yea the New York Yankees' baseball season started yesterday which means that half my days after school will be gaming while the other half of the day is baseball. So yea basically baseball is replacing GS for me starting now…not completely…but by a recognizable amount.

Anyway get ready for a The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass review sometime tomorrow

Adios Fanaticos

Edit: I think everyone's getting the wrong impression when i say i give NSMB a prescore of 7.9. That score does not mean i am not enjoying the game, as a matter of fact i am enjoying It VERY MUCH. Plus its just a pre-score people, nothing final. Just wanted to clear that up, now back to baseball.

I'm loving Crisis Core myself. Been a castlevania fan for years and years as well.

Haven't played New SMB yet. One of these days I guess.

yea im new to castlevania so im more excited about that game...well...actually CC is more exciting
Posted Apr 2, 2008 3:18 pm PT
For some weird reason I really like CC a lot. Yeah it is a bit repetitive but I don't mind. I have always played FF games and enjoyed them but never was a diehard fan. So it's odd that I'm getting into it as much as I am.

Darn it, this blog adds to my frustration of wanting a PSP and CC
Posted Apr 2, 2008 3:35 pm PT
I just can't stop myself from commenting on every crisis core blog I see... I love it soooo much.. and want to make sure everyone else does too!
So it's great to see you're liking it so far!! There are a bazillion missions though

Good to hear you are enjoying your games. I love baseball (still getting into it bit by bit) but there's no way to follow the season here at a decent hour *pouts*

Hugs

"Unce Unce" *techno beat*
XD
New Super Mario Brothers didn't feel as fun for me as the one on the previous gens

People complain that it's repetitive single button mashing but in truth it's just the same as VII was except int real time. I mean we all used the same button to choose stuff in VII. Same with CC just in the middle of fighting. lol

Castlevania is very well put together but yeah a little ol' skool look to it! Mario will be Mario, & don't own the PSP... so no comment on that game

I'm glad you're liking Crisis Core I'm surpised at your NSMB pre-review, that game was so fun
Posted Apr 2, 2008 4:49 pm PT
It took me 17 hours to finish castlevania so that should keep you busy for a while.
Posted Apr 2, 2008 4:54 pm PT
I love Castlevania i've been a fan for ages, as for New mario brothers i've not played it yet. You can't beat the original.

Glad to know you're enjoying CC and DoS, I'm nearly done with Aria Of Sorrow (The Prequel), So I'll get that soon enough.I actually LOVED NSMB.Well, enjoy that and the Baseball.
Posted Apr 2, 2008 5:05 pm PT
what! NSMB a 7.9!? Blasphemy! That game rocked so much....
Posted Apr 2, 2008 5:08 pm PT
Give Crisis Core some time and the combat system becomes more complex. I admit it is easy for awhile, but once things cook up it is awesome. Same goes for the story. Just check out my review when its up tomorrow .

i want to get Crisis Core someday glad your liking it
Posted Apr 2, 2008 5:47 pm PT
I don't have my PSP with me atm...
CC: FFVII looks like a great game.
Posted Apr 2, 2008 6:07 pm PT
YO FINALFAN i got u in my fc
Posted Apr 2, 2008 6:51 pm PT
so you're doing pre-reviews? I predict a lower score in the actual review
Posted Apr 2, 2008 8:01 pm PT
NSMB 7.9? Well I guess it is only a pre score...
Posted Apr 2, 2008 11:08 pm PT
I haven't tried Crisis Core yet. Hell I have not even bought it!!! And I call myself an FF fan. Blame it all on EU release date.

I have heard that the gameplay is a bit repetitive which is obvious since it bears a resemblance to KH.
But, I am looking for the FFVIIness in CC and I am sure it's full of it.

i already have my psp but i dont have crisis core so i cant say anything, but i think that the scores for castlevania and NSMB were right...

Castlevania Dawn Of Sorrow and has one the one of the best reasons to play it all over again. I won't tell you why, you'll just have to complete the game to find out why. Also, keep an eye out for secret rooms. And try and get Portrait Of Ruin! Another good Castlevania, though is'a bit more linear than Dawn Of Sorrow. But there's loads of things to get. Well, there's loads to do in either game. I also recommend you get Lunar Knights, a great game and I'm honored to have it If you want a game to last you for absolute ages then I suggest you get Lost In Blue. Easily 40 hours long and with a whole new chapter once you completed it. New Super Mario Bros was an okay game for me. It was great fun with superb controls and smoothness all round. Things I didn't like was the lack of challenge which leads to the hideous length of the entire game. It's far too short and the mini games are more or less the ones I have found in Super Mario 64 DS. Just that they're all unlocked this time round.

There needs to be a Mario game where you can save Mario from himself.
Posted Apr 3, 2008 5:09 am PT
Don't worry. Once you finish Dawn of Sorrow (depending of which ending you get) you'll unlock things.
Posted Apr 3, 2008 9:36 am PT
Most of those games don't have alot of replay value unless you WANT to make it have replay value if you get what I mean. New Super Mario Bros you could beat in 1 sitting, but you still got to beat every level and get all the stars, which can add up to 20 hours which isn't much for a full completion of a game. Crisis Core I got 20 hours on it right now, took 14 to beat and doing the missions now, then going to hard mode with my transfered level and materia. Sadly all the summons and characters you earn for your slot vanish again lol you do keep there % points though but that doesn't mean anything in damage wise. Dawn of Sorrow I beat twice and did the bonus Julas mode which was WAY tougher then with soma. Also fighting the bonus Soma boss is totally worth doing the Julas mode.

I gotta get that GAME!!

Great review, I really want Crisis Core and Castlevania now =D
