Hey all!

A week after my London trip I went on my second vacation. Nothing too fancy, just an eight-day trip with my best friends. We just stayed here in Holland, but we had the best time! We rented an apartment in Vlissingen, a nice town by the coast. We spend most of our time shopping and swimming and sunbathing at the beach. We had amazing weather all week! I guess the weather gods were favouring us! We did all get sunburned one day, but we had quite some laughs with it, so it wasn't that bad in the end.

Last week, the week where I got home again, the weather has been dreadful. It has been raining all week, with very little sunshine. I sure hope the weather will be getting better soon, otherwise it doesn't even feel like it's summer.

This past week I got tagged three times. Instead of giving you 30 facts, I'll just stick to ten. That was hard enough already! I must say it's pretty difficult to think of some interesting facts about yourself. I hope you find it interesting to read:

  1. So far I've got one fine. It wasn't that bad or anything. One morning in the winter the head light of my bicycle wasn't working, so some others and I as well (there light wasn't working properly either) got held over by this police officer. The penalty was only 10 euros luckily. My headlight always worked since then though! Once I get my drivers license next year this number might go up fast though!
  2. I never had the chickenpox. I was talking to some friends of mine from tv.com on msn the other day and they couldn't believe it. It's true though. My father never had the chickenpox either when he was younger, he only got it until my two brothers got it. So maybe I'll get it later in life. Who knows?
  3. I played the piano for about 4 years. I quit playing because it felt more as an obligation at one point, then something I was doing for myself. I might pick it up again one day, because it was fun to play!
  4. All my life, I've never broken a single bone.
  5. I bruise real easily. If I bump into something, I already have a bruise.
  6. I really like mustard and pickles. Lots of people don't really like it, but I love it! Once I even ate a sandwich with just mustard on it. Told you I liked it!
  7. When I moved to Heeten four and a half years ago, I completely decorated my own bedroom. It has blue walls, with a white sealing and white lamps and boards. All the other accessories are blue and green. Guess what my favourite colours are?
  8. I speak 4 different languages: Dutch, English, French and German. Well actually five, because I speak a bit of Fries as well.
  9. I visited quite some countries in my life. All of them through vacations, but it are quite a lot already: Germany, France, England, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Austria. So that makes 13 countries!
  10. My name comes from the Greek Sophia, which means 'the wise one'. I don't know if I live up to that name, but it's cool!

I also saw this tv list thing on David's blog a little while ago, and I thought it would be nice to put it on my blog, so here it is:

My five favourite shows are Friends, Gilmore Girls, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy and Sex and the City, but I really like House and Project Runway as well.

Thanks for letting me steal it David!

Oke, so it has been quite a while ago since I put up the last round of my 'What am I talking about' game. The perfect time to finally put up a new one! Here it is:

At one point this actress was starring in a popular tv show as well as shooting two movies. What actress am I talking about?

The score so far was:

Leo - 1 point

Hayley - 1 point

So instead of putting up a song of the week, I thought I'd put up a quote of the week, to change things a bit:

Red: "I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free. "

- The Shawshank Redemption

I also decided I'd only put up a funny story and skip the question. I don't know what I'll put up instead though. I'll think about that for a while.

This week's joke/funny story:

Real 911 calls

Dispatcher: 911 What is your emergency?
Caller: Someone broke into my house and took a bite out of my ham and cheese sandwich.
Dispatcher: Excuse me?
Caller: I made a ham and cheese sandwich and left it on the kitchen table and when I came back from the bathroom, someone had taken a bite out of it.
Dispatcher: Was anything else taken?
Caller: No, but this has happened to me before and I'm sick and tired of it!

Dispatcher: 911 What's the nature of your emergency?
Caller: My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart
Dispatcher: Is this her first child?
Caller: No, you idiot! This is her husband!

I hope you all enjoyed this blog!
Have a great week!

*hugs*

Hello - just stopped by to tell you I love your avatar - I feel the same way

Those vacations sound pretty good to me - I don't think I'll be taking 1 this year. "Sex and the City" is 1 of my favorites too and I highly recommend "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".

Take care,
Hari

You should watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer it's an excellent show. I recommend it's spinoff Angel too.

You're from Friesland? Brabander myself .

Nice of you to stop by! Thanks! I guess we're not the only ones who feel this way!

Sometimes staying at home can be nice as well! IU must say this year is exceptionel for me though, normally I go away once or not at all. Well I'm glad you like Buffy, lots of people recommended it to me already. Take care as well!

I guess I better start watching it soon, since everyone is telling me it's such a great show! Now I'm definitely curious about it!

Well I'm actually not from Friesland, my mother and grandparents are. That's how I know some Fries. I'm from Gelderland myself.

Hej Grace! I'm glad you liked them!

Hej Nats buddy!

Haha yes I guess I've been quite busy! Last week was not so busy though! I finally had some time to just chill around the house, which can be really nice as well! I'm so glad we had nice weather, it really makes your vacation even better!
The weather today was a lot better already and I heard it looking up after that, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Haha I don't know why it has come either! It seemed to be gone for a while, but no such thing! And I thought since I had the pleasure of getting tagged, I couldn't hold you out on the fun!

Well I'm really happy you liked them! Like I said, it was quite hard to think of some interesting ones! Haha well for me it's pretty normal, since everyone learns English, French and German here in high school.
It's cool though, being able to speak so many different languages!

Haha non-major bones count as bones as well! I didn't think it was so special I never had the chickenpox, but there were some who were pretty shocked about it! I see I'm not the only one though! Continues in next comment...
Posted Jul 14, 2008 11:25 am PT
I thought the meaning of my name was pretty cool as well! I never knew that actually!

I never saw that show actually... Or even heard about it..
I will definitely watch BTVS! So many people are telling me it's awesome, so I better! And I didn't put OTH on the list, because I've seen the first two seasons and a couple episode after that. So it's not really something that counts as a "always wanted to see"!

Yes, the first person already guessed it once again! It seems like you have to be super fast if you want to get a point! I'm sure you'll have better luck next time buddy! It's one of my favourite movies ever as well! It such a great movie, really an amazing piece of work! And I like the quote as well of course, otherwise I wouldn't have put it on my blog!

Continues in another comment...
Posted Jul 14, 2008 11:31 am PT
Glad you liked the joke buddy!

Haha yes, it seems to be something that happens to everyone who watches it! It really is an awesome show though! I'm sure I'll have watched the first season in no-time!

Miss you too buddy! I hope we'll be able to catch up, when you're a little less busy!
Lief vir jou! *massive hugs*

Hej Jeannine!

It really is! They should make a bumper sticker of it! "Hunk if you love mustard!"

Lots of people told me it are great shows, so they are definitely high on my to-watch list now!

Have a great week yourself!
Posted Jul 14, 2008 11:40 am PT
Sounds like your second vacation was almost as good as the first. A week of sunbathing and fun on the beach...awesome. I am totally understanding the sunburn thing, as I am sporting one myself today.

Someone very toughtfully tagged me, too...thanks so much. It used to be five things! How am I going to come up with ten??? I see you came up with some good ones. Now I will have to think of mine...you will be seeing them soon.

I think "the wise one," suits you well. Great choice on your parents part.

Of the show list, I have seen at least one episode of 58 of them! Some as a fan, but I didn't count them. I should get bonus point I think for having seen every episode of several of these shows. Reading over the list made me realize that there were some great shows of the past that you younger people never got to see. It is kind of sad, because some of them were great!

Probably way late, but is the person you're talking about Jennifer Aniston.

Love the quote. The Shawshank Redemption is in my all time top ten movie list. It is beyond awesome.

The 911 calls are good. I came across a book of them and they are hilarious. The things people say when they are under stress.

Glad we could catch up a bit Saturday...hope your having a great week. * hugs*

Cool facts, I never broke a bone either and I wish I knew more Dutch, I only know a couple of words. Glad you'll try Buffy, it's very special to me. Don't know The Shawshank Redemption but I heard only good about it (including now). Bye *wave*

Some great facts about you
Posted Jul 15, 2008 1:40 pm PT
Hej mscraftee!

I think it was just as awesome as the first one, it would be hard to say if one was better then the other! The sunbathing was amazing though, I'm glad we had such good weather! Haha sorry about that! I thought you would like to share in the fun of coming up with facts! I'm sure you'll think of some great ones though, you helped me think of some as well! Thanks for that! Ahh thanks so much! I sure hope I'm able to live up to it! I do think my parents picked a nice name for me, I like it.
Posted Jul 16, 2008 11:06 am PT
Wow 58 of them, that's quite a lot! I guess you know more shows then me, because I don't know some of the older ones. It's true though that some shows that aired in the past, were way better then the ones that air now! I don't complain though about the current shows!

The person was indeed Jennifer Aniston, but just like you said, the answer has been guessed already. I'm glad you like the quote! The Shawshank Redemption definitely is an AWESOME movie, it's in my top ten for sure!

Yes, they are definitely funny! I would love to see that book someday, I'm sure I would have quite some laughs! It's understandable though, it can be hard to have a completely normal conversation, when you're under so much stress.

I was so glad we could catch up as well!
Enjoy the rest of your week! *huge hugs*

Hej mafalada!

I see my avatar is drawing quite some attention! I'm glad you like it. It's not so strange though: Jensen is just one HOT man! Keep it up with the not breaking any bones! I sure hope it will stay this way for me, I'm not looking forward to breaking any bones soon! It's already great that you know some words! Not many people outside Holland know Dutch, so that's awesome! I put Buffy high on my to watch list and I will tell of you what I think of it, once I've seen it! I'm sure I'll like it though, seeing all the people that love it around here! You should definitely go and watch the Shawshank Redemption sometime, it's one of the best movies ever! Thanks so much for stopping by! *waves back*

Hej Redda!

Haha I don't know if god loves me, but I guess I've been pretty lucky so far! But I can get the chickenpox later in life and I heard it's even worse then when you're young, so I won't be so lucky then...

Wow you've broken quite some things! I have been in the hospital a couple of times though, so I guess I'm not THAT lucky. Oke, so maybe we don't really have the same taste in tv shows, but we both like Grey's! That's something! I'm glad you liked the calls! Thanks buddy! Ahh that's so sweet of you! I'm happy with my name though, I like it! See we're just more alike in other things! I think it would be great to pick it up again some day. Yes, I guess it has to be weather god, instead of weather gods... Don't know that for sure actually.. I've never been around the world actually, but next year you're welcome to come with me in my suitcase! I'm glad you liked the blog buddy! *Huge hugs*
