Hej everybody!

So I finally have the time to write a new blog. My exam week is practically over, I only have one more exam tomorrow. But that's an English exam, so that's going to be a piece of cake!

My exam week started last Wednesday. On Wednesday I had my Dutch exam, which went pretty well. I already got my grade back today and I had a 7.5! (Our grades here go from 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest ) On Thursday I had three exams. The first one was psychology, which I thought was pretty easy. After that I had my science exam, which was one of the hardest exams, but it went oké. Then, as my last exam of the day, I had my cultural and artistic shaping. We had to write a reflection report. You have to do this at the end of every schoolyear. So I didn't have to study for this exam, which was cool. On Friday I had my natural sciences exam, which I think is one of the most difficult subjects, but it went pretty well.

Then the weekend finally arrived, but there was no time to chill and do fun things. I had to study and work, so before I knew it the weekend was over again.

On Monday I had my maths exam, which was hard. It's always hard for me to say how I do in maths, because sometimes I think it went really well and it turns out I didn't and sometimes I think it went not so good and then it turns out I did great. So I won't give you an expectation about this exam. Today I had 4 exams, which was pretty stressful. My first exam was a presentation about the books we have read this year. We read two books in Dutch and one in English, and they all were from before 1900. The presentation went well, even though my friends and I haven't even read all of the books. Most of my cl@ssmates didn't read their books either, but our presentation went well and the teachers didn't even notice we didn't read all of them.

Then I had my biology exam, which I hardly had any time to study for. Under the circumstances it went oke, but I have to wait and see what my grade will be. Then I had my floral test. We had to study 150 different plants. They had 20 plants spread through the cl@ssroom and we had to write down which plant it was. At the end we already got our grade back and I had a 5. When I compared it with my cl@ssmates I did pretty well though. There were 15 people who had a 1! Then, but certainly not least, we had a determine test. We got three plants and with this book we always use, you had to figure out which plant it was.

Oke, on to the more fun things.

As most of you probably know the UEFA Euro 2008 soccer championship started last Saturday and yesterday The Netherlands had to play their first match. We are placed in a very difficult pool, together with Italy, Rumania and France. So yesterday we had to play against Italy and we won by 3-0!!! It was an amazing match! You can say I went a bit crazy! I was jumping up and down when they scored a goal! Italy is the preserving world champion and I guess nobody thought we would win.

Next Monday I'm leaving for London with my fellow students and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm sure it's going to be amazing! I've been in London two times already, but you can never get bored in London I think. We are staying host families in groups of 3-4 students. On Thursday we get the last details and we also hear with which cl@ssmates you are placed in a host family.

This does mean I won't be on for about a week! Of course I will miss you all! But I'm sure I'll have the best time in London!

So last week I started my new game: What am I talking about? Hayley was the winner of the first round! Congratulations, you did amazing!

That makes the score:

Hayley - 1

I know, what a shocker!

Here's this week's clue:

Three cast members from The Simpsons have made guest performances on this show. What show am I talking about?

So once again good luck to everybody!

This week's joke/funny story:

A man calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss program.

The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck.

She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company.

The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me."

Without a second thought, he takes off after her.

A few miles later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up.

The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens.

On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10 lbs. as promised.

He calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound program.

The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning and beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me."

Well, he's out the door after her like a shot.

This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck.

So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape.

Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 20 lbs. as promised.

He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program.

"Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program."

"Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years."

The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, "If I catch you, you are mine!!!"

He lost 63 pounds that week.

This week's question:

What would have been your name if you was born a girl instead of a boy, or if you was born a boy instead of a girl?

Song of the week:

Maria Mena - Internal Dialogue

Maria is an amazing artist from Norway. I already knew some of her songs, but I only got her album a little while ago. And it was just in one word amazing! It's already one of my favourite albums I ever heard! I don't know if that says a lot, but oke... It was hard picking just one song from this album, so maybe I'll put up another song of her on a future blog.

Here's the link to the song:

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Talk to you soon I hope!

Sounds like you are doing pretty well on your exams...and only one more to go, so yay for that.

Have a great time in London...it sounds like a great trip. Do you have a specific schedule of things you have to do while you are there? Hope you get to do and try everything. I agree with Nats, we will want to see pictures if possible.

Good joke, as always.

I have no idea what my name would have been if I had been born a boy...after two boys I think they were so hoping for a girl they didn't want to jinx it by even picking a boys name.

Leo: Hej!
Thanks! I did not know you worked in London! That's cool! Haha maybe you should, you never know! And I see we already have a winner! I think that was the fastest one ever! The answer is indeed Friends! Congrats!
Posted Jun 11, 2008 1:12 am PT
Anne: Hej! Yes, we were totally awesome! Boulahrouz, Van Nistelrooij and Sneijder were really good, but I guess you're right: they all we're doing so great! Haha well that's a cool name I think! It could have been worse!
Posted Jun 11, 2008 1:14 am PT
Jeannine: Hej!

I'm glad you liked the joke! Sometimes the gender can be quite a surprise to the parents I guess! I like the name though!
Thanks so much!
Posted Jun 11, 2008 1:17 am PT
Vman: Hej!

I did not even know that! I might even run in to you, without one of us knowing that we know each other! Thanks so much! I'm sure I'll have an amazing time!

Yes, we sure did! It was so funny to see the looks on the faces of the Italian! I mean, for us it was funny!
Posted Jun 11, 2008 1:19 am PT
Nats: Hej buddy!

Well, this time the answer was guessed amazingly fast! You were here pretty early, so I guess you should have better luck next time!
And yes the answer was Friends!

I'm so happy about that as well! I have my last exam in about three hours, and after that I'm a free woman again! Yes, I guess not many people have maths as their favourite subject, but I'll just wait and see for the results! And the bio exam was pretty difficult yes. I have no idea why it's important for us to learn 150 plants...
Well I have to wait to see if I did great, but thanks for the confidence buddy!
Posted Jun 11, 2008 1:25 am PT
Yes, even though the Dutch played just amazing, I guess the Italian played below their potential. We were just too good for them!
Maybe you should support Holland the next time!

I'm really looking forward to it! London is such an amazing city and I'm sure I'll have the best time! How is your friend liking it there?

I'm going to miss you guys as well! Of course I'll take as much pictures as I can and do a very big blog about my trip as soon as I'm back!

I'm glad you liked the joke!
Posted Jun 11, 2008 1:28 am PT
Well, if you find out let me know oke? I'm quite curious! Evan is a cool name though! You never know, that might have been your name! If I was a boy my name would have been Len. Know I'm even more happy I'm a girl!

Oke that's cool buddy! It's definitely worth a listen!
Thanks so much buddy!

David: Hej!

Thanks! I'm sure I'll do just fine! Not to sound over confident, but English is my best subject, so I'm confident about it!

Yes, well Leo was amazingly fast this time! Just give it another shot the next time!

I think everybody was impressed! Myself included!
Thanks so much, I'm sure I will! You should definitely go there some day, it's really worth it!

mscraftee: Hej!

Well, I hope I did great! And definitely yay for that! The end of the year now really is around the corner!

I'm really looking forward to it! We do have a schedule yes. I'll try to give you the short version! We leave Monday morning and then we travel to Calais by bus. Then we go through the Tunnel to Dover. When we arrive in Dover we will also visit Dover castle and hang out there for a while. Then we continue our trip to London and we go to our host families.
The next day we will make a tour around the city by bus to see all the sights. In the afternoon we have a foto assignment and after that we go out to dinner with the whole class. In the evening we will do a jack the ripper tour. I don't even know what that includes, but it sounds exciting!
On wednesday we leave London to go to Canterbury. We will visit some sights and in the afternoon we visit a high school over there.
On Thursday we will also visit some sights in London and then we have the afternoon to ourselves!
And then one of my favourite things: at night we go to a musical! I'm really excited about that!
Well and then on Friday we leave again. We travel back to Dover and take the boat to Calais. Then we drive back to Holland by bus.

I'll of course take as many pics as I can! And post them on a blog afterwards!

I'm glad you liked it!
Well I have two older brothers as well, and my parents really wanted a girl! They still picked a boy's name as well: Len. If one of my brothers would have been a girl, I just would have gotten one of their names!

Enjoy the rest of the week!

So happy to see you here on my blog! You can say I'm quite surprised yet! Was a good thing I mentioned it on msn I guess!

Hahah yes I am! I'm so happy about it! Now my holiday finally starts! Well almost... but I only have fun things at school, so it's practically my holiday already!

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence! I really appreciate it! I hope I did well of course!
I did get a 5.2 in my Science exam, still have to decide if I'm going to take a repeat...

Well I did take your advice! Now I'm also a girl with a mic! I tested it with my brother and I always think my voice sounds so lame when it's recorded, so prepare yourself!

Yes I'm going to London! Only three more days! I'm super excited about it! Of course I will do a blog about it! I want to tell you guys all about it! So it's good that you're curious, then there are some people who actually want to read my rambling!
