"A local high school graduation ended with roars of protest after school officials turned the microphone off right in the middle of one of the valedictorian's speeches. The microphone cut out after the valedictorian at Foothill High made reference to God."

This girl is the Valedictorian! She is at the top of her class.  She deserves to say whatever she wants-it is protected by the first amendment.  Whether is makes a reference to God or not, she can say it.  It is her time to thank all those that helped her in her studies.  These people include God and Christ.

What pisses me off is that the ACLU supports the decision to turn off the mic.  Why would you support this position if you are an organization that is supposed to "safeguard civil liberties".  I can see if the school mentioned Jesus in one of their speeches, but this was the girl speaking on behalf of herself, not the school.  It is her free speech.  If anything, the ACLU should be supporting the girl, not the school.  It seems that whenever Christianity comes into play, the ACLU is automatically on the opposite side, not matter what the circumstances.  This fuels my hatred for the ACLU even more.  They are just a bunch of hypocrites.  And people say that Christianity is not under attack in this country

This has totally gotten ridiculous. It seems like America allows people to say negative stuff like let's kill the president, but a girl can't even say thank you God? These ACLU people probably want us to get rid of the presidency because too many presidents have mentioned God. Actually, they probably would rather have America be ruled by a communist dictator instead. I don't care if someone wants to thank Buddha or something, people should be allowed to thank whoever they want. Thanks for posting the story.

Unvelievable. So standard of the ACLU.

Wow, this is shocking. Really brutal, cutting off something she must have been very excited and nervous about, all because of a reference to God. This is surprisingly a lot like Naziism, or some sort of fascist dictatorship, shutting people down for their religion. On their money it says "In God we Trust" and they don't even allow her to thank the same God, something's out of place.
