i'm sorry, i've been utterly spoilt by metroid prime, so i can never bring myself to play the conduit. ;-(

i'm a bit of a graphics whore. i think good presentation and level design is as important as controls.

You are so right. Hype is a horrid thing in the game industry. If you've noticed Nintendo doesn't hype its first party games like it used to.

"Ah, but we all know this story. It is an old one, it is told many times every year. This year, Wii owners were told the some story."

Some should be changed to some. Great review though.

It's on my list of "Games I will buy because my girlfriend has forced me to get a Wii". I am interested just because I would like to see a FPS on the Wii that has solid controls. Somehow I don't worry that Metroid Prime will be better in most repsects, I'd still like to try it.

Great review, you got my thumbs up as well.

@floristandbicyc

Thanks! If only I could somehow collect all these thumbs and put them up on a wall...a wall of thumbs...ah tis a grand dream.

@just_nonplussed

Yes. Conduit level design is nothing spectacular. Rooms repeat themselves and corridors all look alike. Not to mention you spend a lot of time in these samey corridors!

I need Metroid Prime Trilogy, now!

Every room in that game is unique!

@kbaily

Yeah, Nintendo is good at keeping big games hidden for a long time.

Some developers start showing screen shots and hype trailers just days after development starts.

@nicktarist

Argh! You're absolutely right, thank you.

It has been changed.

@Samson089

I'm sure you've played through many FPS games that are far better than this one.

Stay clear unless you see it in a bargain bin for under 20 bucks, seriously.

Metroid Prime Trilogy is infinitely better in every respect, except maybe controls. Maybe.

I got Conduit based on Hype. Don't be another victim!

"Don't believe the hype!", as GameSpot says...
At the end you said that this game is not for those who have already played many Halo clones. What about those people, who have played Halo 3 and weren't that impressed, or don't much like FPSs in general (with the exception of BioShock, and Left 4 Dead). You know, I'm just asking on behalf of a friend of mine who plays a lot video-games. That poor guy.. not anyone you know of course.

@Rheinmetal

Hehehe...

Tell your "friend" that if Halo 3 did not impress him, Conduit will not impress him either. Conduit is trying to be like Halo 1, and almost manages to pull it off sometimes, but overall it is inferior to Halo 1 in almost every way, and Halo is overrated enough as it is! Isn't Halo 3 supposed to be pretty similar to Halo 1? Or is it less impressive?

Anyway, Conduit is nothing like Bioshock or Left 4 Dead...not even close!

Metroid Prime Trilogy would be a safer bet, but it's not really an all out action game; it's more of an adventure game.

Bottom line, Conduit is like a FPS from the N64 but with prettier graphics.

I'm sorry, but I forgot to tell you that my friend doesn't own a Wii. I don't kmow how can I convince him to get one. He is one of those players who get easily impressed with nice graphics and animations, that both X360 and PS3 games offer, and doesn't much like the idea of doing "exercise" while playing, because he is a bit lazy.
Anyway thank you very much for the information, I will tell him, when I see him again of course...
