Easily the best movie of 2008, and the year is only half over. Heath Ledger puts up another of his S-cl@ss performances, and if they wouldn't have announced that he was in it, you'd never have guessed he was. Every scene with the Joker is classic and will have you repeating the dialogue for a while. I actually left the theatre with less energy than I went in with.
It starts off with a gang of thugs in clown masks robbing a bank. Each thug was ordered to murder another until it comes down to two. The Joker turns out to be underneath one of the masks and kills his last cronie before hopping on a bus that backed up through the wall, and drives off into a line of buses.
It shifts to a criminal making a deal with the Scarecrow from the first movie. The meeting is interupted by vigilantes dressed in Batman suits. The Bat himself arrives and manages to stop the baddies from escaping but ends up wounded. He is seen to have more than a few battle wounds when Alfred walks in on him patching hismelf up. Later that day, a meeting of mob bosses is shown happening. Righ in the middle of it, The Joker steps in offering to kill the Batman. To prove his worth, he performs a simple magic trick, which ticks off one of the mob bosses. He stands up to kill the Joker himself, but Joker opens his jacket to reveal its stuffed full of grenades attached to a single string. He decides to let them decide on his offer and leaves his card (A Joker) behind.
Batman, having retreived an escaped mob boss from China, which forces the other mob bosses to agree to Joker's conditions of giving him half the money in exchange for killing Batman, and warns Gotham City that he will kill one person a day unless the Batman turns himself in. Bruce decides to, but during a meeting Harvey Dent confesses to being the Dark Knight and is hauled off by the police. While he's being transported, the Joker tries to kill him but is met up with the real Batman who manages to allow the Joker to get caught by the police.
After being interogated by Batman, Joker reveals that he has kidnapped Harvey and Rachel Dawes to opposite ends of the city, but gives the police and Batman the addresses for the wrong person. Harvey ends up getting burnt pretty bad, while Rachel is killed. The Joker is able to escape the police from a pre-planted bomb and visits a badly burnt Harvey whom is pretty PO'ed over the death of his girlfriend. Joker convinces him to seek revenge on the corrupted in Gotham.
Joker is paid his half of the money, which he burns in front of another mob boss, and he decides that he will own Gotham and condems anyone in the streets at nightfall will be murdered. All the civilians rush to escape the city, but their only exit is on two boats as all bridges have bombs on them. The boats, which house criminals on one and normal civilians on the other, are discovered to be rigged with explosives and that the criminals hold the detonator for the civilians and vice-versa.
Batman tracks Joker down to an imcomplete skyscraper where he has housed another trap. Hostages are wearing clown masks and have fake guns duct taped to their hands. Batman is able to realize this before the police can wound anyone, and meets up with the Joker just as both boats decide not to blow up the other to save themselves. Batman easily defeats Joker, and dangles him from a wire, where the Joker admits defeat and says that Batman is incorruptable. He also says that Harvey Dent was not and that he has let him loose on Gotham all night, forcing Batman to race off and stop him before he hurts anyone.
Batman arrives at the deathplace of Rachel to find Harvey holding Commisioner Gordon and his family at gunpoint. Harvey goes to decide the fate of Gordon's son by flipping his coin, but Batman tackles him off the ledge. He saves the boy, but Two-Face takes the plunge. Batman offers to let Harvey die a hero, and asks Gordon to blame the deaths on him. The film ends with Gordon destroying the bat signal and issueing a manhunt for Batman while the real Dark Knight rides off on his batpod.
Sorry for that long explanation of the movie, but i was bored and wanted to write it. Anway, I give The Dark Knight a perfect 10 out of 10 and I can't wait for the third installment in this series.
Not like anyone has noticed, but I was "gone" from January until like last week. I say "gone" because my computer kept rebooting and it pissed me off so i never got off it, but it got fixed a month ago, and then my mom finally ordered High Speed Internet at the end of April.
My Fanfic for Bleach is off to a good start, but I'm not so good at writing it down on the computer. I can say the basic plot follows around a sixteen year old kid named Eric Lucas. Yea, he's named after me. He basically is pulled into the world of Shinigami, and is believed to be the guy who will "Bring light to the world". It wasn't easy making my own Captains, so I cut the number down to 12 Squads, each squad only containing 5 members. A Captain, a Lieutenant, and 3 others.
I've also created a Hell Shinigami. 12 Squads of Shinigami from Hell, who help to keep the peace in Hell. And another of my creations are The Hallows, 9 "godly" weapons which grant a pre-designated user a vast array of abilities, from becoming a murder of crows to summoning a massive rain of kunei, to changing the density of their skin and increasing their height. If anyone wants to know more about any of that, send my a PM. Again, it'll be a while before I can get it down in script.
Some new albums coming out this year, I've only recently started paying attention to a few. From First To Last already released theirs, but I've read that Alesana's "Where Myths Fade To Legends" is to be one of the most anticipated albums this year. I'm also keeping an eye out on Escape The Fate and Halifax who have not released even the name of them yet. Also, I think UnderOATH is due to have one out, but I'll have to check on that.
Seeing as New Years isn't that far away, I've made some resolutions a day or two early: Make more than 30 friends, Get to level 20, and finally get my fanfics for Ben 10 and Bleach posted up on here.
Anyone who wants to be my friend can add me, and when i get around to it, i'll add you back, and if anyone can give me some advice on how to level up faster that would be greatly appreciated...thanks.
Anybody who happens to stumble upon this can spam if they want.
As you can see, i love that turtle
