Ok so I'm totally bored and I've just finished updating my iPOD with a bunch of new songs, so now I'm struggling to find something else to keep me occupied. So here I am. Plus, I've kind of been contemplating Gossip Girl lately....
OK so I love Gossip Girl and all, and I continue to love it to a degree, but the writing has been disappointing me lately! Like.... A LOT! I'm usually all for just sitting back and seeing where it leads but I'm getting frustrated! It seems like everything they're doing lately (and everything they're going to be doing if you read spoilers) reverts back to ratings. They're going for the shock value and aren't focusing on making the plotlines GOOD.
{SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD FROM THE LATEST EPISODE.}
Problem #1: In the lastest episode they broke up Dan and Serena....AGAIN! Like seriously?! Why even put them back together again if you're just going to end it 3 episodes later? Its fickle writing and it just pisses the viewers off. Me especially because I actually like DS when Dan isn't screwing it up constantly. Which is basically all the time...but I like them in season 1. Though that last scene with him and the teacher was hot. I'll admit that.
What SHOULD happen: Who wants to see B!tchy Serena make a comeback? Because I TOTALLY do! I would love for Serena to find out about Rachel and Dan's affair and take him....and her I guess..DOWN! It would make for good TV for her to sabatoge them without their knowledge....really good TV.
Problem #2: Nate and Vanessa are secondary characters at this point. I love them together obviously, and their cuteness is.....cute. lol. But that's all we ever see of them! They're kissing or smiling together, holding hands, blah blah blah. Its adorable. Don't get me wrong...but it gets old fast!
What SHOULD happen: I want to see them BOTH have individual plotlines. Especially Vanessa. We NEVER see her alone or having problems and how she deals with them. The closest we ever got to some Nate/Vanessa epicness or a solo Vanessa plot is when Lady Catherine was still in the picture and I would like to see them give her something! Hell, throw Eric a bone too why don't you? He provides great comic relief.
Problem #3: No CHUCK AND BLAIR! I'm all for them taking a break because we don't want them to get too overexposed and then get stale and boring, but they need to have SOME interaction! I look, a two minute conversation...anything will do.
What SHOULD happen: Two episodes should be the maximum amount of time CB should not interact. Anymore than that, and I get antsy. This nanny plotline I can deal with for a time, but its a bit...out there. Even by Gossip Girl standards. But it was hot, so I'll buy it for now. Just don't try to make Chuck fall in love with this chick because then I will be unhappy.
Problem #4: They're making Blair too immature. I'm all for B!tchy Blair, but the way they're going about it doesn't even make sense! She went after Rachel again simply for giving her detention?! She's going to risk Yale again when she could have just let it die and moved on? Yeah it sucks to swallow your pride and eat sh!t with a smile, but that's life. And I'd like to think Blair was more clever than that.
What they SHOULD have done: Its a bit too late for this, but they should have had it NOT be Blair who leaked the story to Gossip Girl. They should have just blamed her wrongly because at least then it would have been more of an interesting plot! And the audience would be completely on her side. Wouldn't it have been awesome if Nelly Yuki tried to frame Blair to grab her spot at Yale? Now THAT would have been awesome. But alas, they didn't go there. :/
So that's my take. The writers need to stop flip flopping and just focus on some great storylines instead of predictable repeative stuff.
Plussss.......
Ed and Jessica cuteness! Awww! I totally love them together.
