Seeing as its so close to Halloween (and that I'm proscastinating writing my midterm paper), I've been watching a lot of horror movies that have been on TV. Then I started to try and think up what my favorites (thus far) were. I'm not really into the GORE type of horror movies where the main objective is to make you sick with the elaborate death scenes they think up. I'm a fan of the psychological type horror movies that mess with your mind and freak you out, despite the fact that you KNOW you're just letting your imaginiation run away with you. OR I really like the kitchy, bad horror movies that you watch just for fun.

But anyways, here are what are my top 5 picks:

5.) Drive Thru

Ok, yes. Its crappy. BUT I LOVE THIS MOVIE! What's great about this movie is that its supposed to be crappy. It kind of makes fun of every great slasher/horror movie. Nightmare on Elm Street, IT, Carrie... and its got some great comic relief. There's even a drinking game for it! So yeah, definitely one of those kitchy ones that some people hate, but I personally love. I'm so glad I watched in OnDemand!

4.) When A Stranger Calls (1979)

As someone who does babysit on occasion, this movie creeped me out BIG time. Actually, correction..the beginning and end creeped me out big time. A lot of people have probably seen the remake, and the one thing I did like about that movie was that they focused entirely on Jill (the babysitter), the original actually focused on the killer. But yeah, being alone in a house after that....no thanks. The killer may LOOK scarier in the remake, but the original guy's voice? SO SCARY!

3.) The Ring

Most people I know have seen this movie at least once. When it first came out, all my friends said it wasn't that scary. My mom bought it and we watched it together...um ARE YOU JOKING? This movie was incredibly chilling! I slept with my TV on at the time, and after seeing this movie, all I could think about was some wet, long-haired demon child climbing out and killing me while I slept. However, I didn't want to sleep alone in a dark room either!

2.) Night of the Living Dead

Now, I'm not usually one for zombie movies, but just the cinematography in this movie makes it scary. It was made in the early 60s, so its all in black and white. With the zombies hobbling over to people onscreen and the lighting and everything... scary enough for me. I've only seen it maybe twice because I can't handle it.

1.) Scream

This movie came out when I was 10, and it didn't scare me at first because I watched it during the day. However, come bedtime all I could hear in my head was the killer's voice. Plus, you KNOW there are people out in the world who are sick enough to do something like that! Plus, it was pretty imaginative for the time when cell phones first started coming into the scene...

But yeah, those are my personal faves...

A slasher movie every now and then is cool too though...
