Actually, Death Note is no longer underrated. It has now risen to a level of popularity that rivals those of series such as Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Inu-Yasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, and other popular anime.

For underrated anime, I would have to say that Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter X Hunter, Hikaru no Go, and Zoids: Chaotic Century/Guardian Force, are among the the most underrated anime that I have seen. Personally, I find each/all of them to be superb series, but most people just pass them by as either average or worthless anime, whereas they were all able to greatly entertain me, with each one being good in its own unique way. Of course, that's just my opinion on these series .

My personal favorite anime is Yu Yu Hakusho. As for manga, my favorite is Death Note, followed closely behind by Rurouni Kenshin.

Aha. Yes YuYu Hakusho....You know I actually though a anime like that would actually be overrated and have a ton of fans ......Looks like I was wrong.

It has a decent number of fans, but most people criticize it for being nothing more than a DBZ clone/rip-off, which is completely untrue. They also say that it lacks depth, and does nothing above an average shounen, with very little originality, which to me, is nearly the complete opposite of the truth. I have seen plenty of shounen, including the overrated ones like Naruto, Bleach, Inu-Yasha (dropped it half-way through), One Piece (currently on episode 97, but have put the series on hold), and others, and I have also seen and read plenty of Seinen, and other genres of manga/anime, and the fact of the matter is that YYH stands out to be one of the best that I have seen. To me, its far above the quality of the average shounen. Also, its overall number of fans is dwarfed in comparison to the amount of fans of the much bigger and more popular Shounen titles.

As for One Piece, it would definitely be overrated in Japan, as its even more popular than Naruto over there, if I'm not mistaken. However, in the U.S., while it still is popular, it gets criticized way too much for me to think of it as overrated, but maybe it still is. I'm not really sure, to be honest .

Yeah, but it could be interpretted in a couple of different ways. However, it mainly translates to "Ghost Files" (hence the sub-title in the FUNimation logo). Oh, BTW, have you seen YYH, and if so, how much of it? I was just wondering about that, because I want to gather different opinions that people have about YYH. Also, if you did watch any of YYH, did you watch most or all of the episodes (which you saw), in its English dub or in Japanese (either raw or with subtitles)? And, if you watched both, then which version did you prefer. As for me, despite how much people criticize dubs, I must honestly say that I prefer the YYH English dub over the subbed version of it. Taht's not to say that I don't like subs, or that I don't like the subbed version of YYH, for that matter, but I just got more entertainment out of the English dub, and I felt that the voices fit the characters better in that version. Although, with that said, either subbed or dubbed, YYH is still my #1 favorite anime, followed closely behind by Death Note .

I watched all the episodes of the first 2 seasons. Missed a few episodes in the dark tornaument....especially the last battle between Yusuke and Toguro.....I want to see that battle.....

I saw most of chapter Black except the Last couple of episodes after Yusuke gets his half demon powers and fights Sensui.....I want to see that battle to...I missed alot of episodes of the last season.

I've only seen the English Dub.

To tell you the truth the first time I saw Yuyu Hakusho I though it was gonna be girly.....It was probably the first opening theme.

I can understand what you mean, but the 1st Opening theme actaully grew on me after awhile .

Anyways, its a great and classic series to me. From the way you described it, it would seem that, just like me, you watched Yu Yu Hakusho back on Toonami, before they took it off the air. Am I correct ?

Yes......Then I figure out they were gonna air it on 5:00 a.m. in the morning. But there were times when I forgot about it or just didn't wake up to watch it. I missed alot....especially the last episodes between Yusuke and that other guy who was it again? Yeah I basically missed the last big battles of the last 3 seasons.
