I couldn't believe it when I looked in here today and saw that it's been nearly a year and a half since I've written one of these things, so I thought I should write me another one, just to keep the profile updated, you know.

Besides, what better day for a blog entry than Super Bowl Sunday, right?

Even if it is Monday now, but oh well.

I spent the better part of the day pretty much doing nothing. I'm inclined to feel a little bad about that, but then, it is the day of rest after all, and you've got to admit, it's kind of fun to do nothing every once in a while. You wouldn't believe how good at it I am, either. Why, if they ever make doing nothing an Olympic sport, I'm ready and rearing to go!.

I caught up on Ghost Hunters with the marathon on The Sci-Fi Channel, and, yes, I did my part to rid the world of delicious barbecue potato chips and Dr. Pepper, one tasty bite and one cool sip at a time. There aren't too many things as good as Dr. Pepper on Super Bowl Sunday.

The game itself was a lot of fun too. Part of me just knew the Colts were gonna take the game, but I was still kinda pulling for the Bears. I like both teams, you know, but I was kinda looking forward to doing the Super Bowl Shuffle. Guess I'll have to put my dancing shoes back in the closet till next year.

Good news is, it's almost time for baseball season once again! I might've missed out on the Super Bowl Shuffle, but it's almost time for the Spring Training Shuffle!

Yeah, buddy!

Pro Wrestling's quite the hot topic these days isn't it? Some folks love it, some folks hate it, and some folks don't care one way or another. As for me, well, I have to admit I love it. Hey, I've been a fan since I was a toddler, and to be perfectly honest, I'm rather proud of it. Sure, my being born into a family of wrestling fans might have helped me along the way, but it was always the classic matches and the epic rivalries that kept me watching. There are those out there that might get a chuckle out of this, I'm sure. How can I spend so much time watching a "fake sport?", some folks might be asking, while some might just dismiss this report and pro wrestling in general without so much as a backward glance. Folks that have much better things to do, folks that just don't have the time for that childish nonsense. And to me, that's too bad. At it's best, Pro Wrestling has provided some of the world's best stories, and I've actually heard it described more than once as a modern-day mythology. Epic wars have been waged inside that proverbial squared-circle over the years. Love stories and comedies have played out between the ropes, and, believe me, it's left a lifetime of memories for those of us that have witnessed it. I can honestly say that pro wrestling has meant a lot to me over the years, and it has shaped my life as much as any form of entertainment could. And that's likely why I've been left with a sour taste in my mouth over the path the wrestling business has taken over the past several years. Once driven by incredible storylines and familiar, often beloved personalities, the business seems to be fueled by controversy these days. Many of today's characters, gimmicks, and storylines seem designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to drum up as much attention in the mainstream media as possible, and to attract as much attention as they can. The recent so-called terrorist angle on UPN's WWE Smackdown comes to mind. It goes without saying that angles like this are done to get people talking. The bad thing is, when an angle like this gets people talking, they're usually not talking about it very favorably, and for my money, it makes the business look more than a little bad. Pro Wrestling has a history and a legacy that stretches back a hundred years at the very least, and while it's image has always had more lows than highs, I can't help but think that some of these modern day controversies have turned it into a joke to those outside it's fanbase. Hey, I've been a fan for two decades and wrestling's recent state of affairs has at times nearly turned even me away. I have to say, that makes me feel really sad inside.
