Gah, there's this guy in my cla.ss We're both in student council and have cla.ss together. He's very opinionated and stubborn, okay? He talks politics to the point of annoying everyone...and yet I'm the only person who can seem to stand listening to him jabber on. When school first started, our student council for our clas.s was divided: him and I versus three people who we call The Three Musketeers. Originally, we pretty much started talking together about how much we hate SC and how the Musketeers control everything without listening to us. But then we stopped talking about them and started talking about other things. We got to the point where we couldn't talk online without flirting constantly.

So then last weekend we had Snowball (our winter formal dance) and he followed me around all night, even though i came to the dance with my guy friend. He would come up and tap my shoulder and talk for a few minutes, disappear, then do it all over again. After about an hour, he finally just stuck around and danced with me and my group. He even slow danced with me twice. Also, during Bohemian Rhapsody, all the seniors got together and formed a circle, and he butted in between me and my friend Elise.

Well, this past week we had debates and, again, i caught him watching me thoughout the entire debate, and he wasn't even being sneaky about it! After my debate the following day of clas.s he comes up to me, stands litterally like 3 inches from me, and whispers in my ear that my team won hands down and he knew we would.

All my friends are telling me that he likes me, so I finally gather enough courage to ask him and what does he say? "As a friend, yeah"....nothing more. Am I reading all his signs wrong? Why are guys so confusing?!?

So i wrote a poem about him...my longest one yet. I'm not very good at them, but I'll share it with you guys so you can see his actions from my pov.

Confusion

You confuse me to no end
During clas.s I catch you watching me
This look of admiration and, wait
No, it couldn't be
Was that just a flicker of love?

My heart flutters
Butterflies invade my stomach
I smile back, storing the memory for later
You turn around, focusing on the work ahead

We're by your locker, talking
My face flushes as you step closer
Leaning down to whisper softly in my ear
Lips curl upward, now impossible to erase

Music blares through the stereo
A tap to my shoulder shocks me
You smile that goofy grin and I melt
Though I doubt you knew that

I'm in your arms
Listening to the soft melody of that old country song
You sing gently, completely out of tune
I chuckle as my fingers dance on the back of your neck

Ages, that's how long it took me
I gathered enough courage to say those four words
To ask that question
"Do you like me?"

Your answer half surprises me
"As a friend, yeah."
Though nothing more
My heart cracks, though doesn't break

"He needs time," they say, "to figure it out,"
Though I wonder why
All signs point to the obvious
But he doesn't see it
That he's captured my heart, leaving me confused in his wake

Guys are dumb, period. Hah, nah I'm joking. But sometimes, the way they act is just soo confusing! But maybe he is just as confused as you are. I've come to find that out. Maybe with more time, he'll come to his senses and maybe something will work out between you two. Yeah, I suck at guy advice but maybe you should give him a bit more time to figure things out, or confront him again and maybe ask if he wants to hang out with you -- until you're both more comfortable around eachother.

I think Blokes are probably the hardest species to understand!! I would just ask and see if he wanted to go out just as friends and maybe see if there is anything there. He probably doesnt realise he is staring at you and making it so obvious. They arent very good at hiding!

dramaqueen, you are like my clone#2. I'm going through almost the same exact thing with my lover lol. The only diff is that you actually had the courage to ask him. Like I said to you earlier, putting him on the spot had probably forced himself back into his shell. Not many boys have the courage to admit their feelings to that special person in their life. I wish I can believe my own advice lol.

clone#2??? Hmmph. LOL
Anyways wow good poem.
about the guy... it is ridiculously obvious that he likes you and you probably just shocked him when you asked him straight out. And he probably didnt want to say yes because he didnt know how you felt about the whole thing yet. Guys really suck at reading girls so maybe he didn't want to say yes in case you told him you didnt feel the same way.

thanks! oddly enough, abanana, that is exactly what one of my guy friends told me. I've also been told to ignore him, lead him on, flirt like crazy, etc. I'm handing the poem in for round table for my creative writing class so maybe some of the guys in there can give me some of their prespectives..or at the very least what they think is going on.
