well my next list is going to be highlighting some of the best of the best water games ever made, in order for a game to make this list the whole game must be based off of water whether it be in the world or in gameplay.

5. Legend of Zelda Wind Waker (gamecube)

Legend of Zelda windwaker is gamecubes first (and arguably last) true zelda game, this zelda truley differentiated itself from the others in the series in a number of ways. However it is arguably the whole layout of the game that really differentiates itself is the fact that the whole entire world is an ocean, thats right, everythign you do in that game taks place on the ocean you get to dungeons from the ocean, you fight many enemies on the ocean, even several of the characters live either on the ocean or on small islands.

4. Bioshock(360, PS3,PC)

the whole game of bioshock takes place in the underwater city of Rapture, it is a very innovative First person shooter that uses the water extremely well for many puzzles and challenges. THe water truley adds that extra level to the game that brings it above most other shooters! Not only is it used in challenges but it adds a great atmosphere that helps make the game even more climatic and gives it that creepy desolate feel.

3. Ecco the Dolphin(Genesis)

ecco the dolphin was a game released on the Sega Genesis that had you playing in the role of ecco who was (Obviously) a dolphin. Ecco was a truley innovative game for its time and featured excellent gameplay, sharp graphics and a truley great story. YOu were literally a dolphin and did everything that a dolphin would do, you could speak with other dolphins through echolocation and are able to pull of great stunts and flips through the air.

2. Endless Ocean (wii)

endless ocean on the wii is probably one of the most simple, yet truley addictive gamesknown to us all to date. Your goal is essentially just to explore the ocean and discover all of the wildlife in it. It offers some of the sharpest graphics found on the wii and is still a must own for any wi owners. With a sequal coming soon its obvious that many people agree with me that this is truly a breathtaking experience of a game!

1. Super Mario Sunshine

Super mario sunshine is truly the most innovative mario game to date, as it is the only mario gmae that 100% requires you to use water in order to progress, you use it as a form of transportattion, as a weapon, even as a tool to solve puzzles. So it is with no hesitation that I say that Mario sunshine is truley the greatest water based game we have seen.

I liked the water concept in Mario Sunshine It added something new to the series not just hoping and jumping around. Good times...

nice list and a nice idea too but I guess too many will disagree with you . Anyways, who are they to judge you it is your opinion after all
Posted Aug 16, 2009 3:43 pm PT
@Darthkaiser:I know lol it was that aspect alone that turned sunshine into my favorite game in the mario series
Posted Aug 16, 2009 3:44 pm PT
what no kameo????
Posted Aug 16, 2009 3:55 pm PT
@Ligirulze: no because kameo does not rely on water to be a good game, there are hundreds o games that HAVE water al of these games are games thats entire basis relies on water and without it the games could not exist.
@alidallal:thanks but its a list of opinion, so people disagreeing with me would be a good thing as disagreement sparks debate, and if my blogs get popular enough to deo that then I think its accomplished what its needed to

Sunshine is my favorite mario game . and no Water Warfare on the list? A FPS with water guns has win writen all over it .
Posted Aug 16, 2009 5:09 pm PT
Wow, this is an interesting and original blog, congrats.
Posted Aug 16, 2009 5:11 pm PT
as much as i love sunshine (maybe because of its transparent clean water and the sun), i'd put wind waker in first place. that game's awesome
Posted Aug 16, 2009 5:15 pm PT
This is definitely an interesting topic for a top 5. Well done though.

water games
good list
Posted Aug 16, 2009 5:42 pm PT
Mario Sunshine doesn't deserve to be on here
Posted Aug 16, 2009 5:52 pm PT
@BrunoBRS:I wouldve put it on there but I was more rating the games on a scale of how much the water effects them and Wind waker is by far the one that it effects the least. TBH up until my final edit it wasnt on the list, the number 5 spot was FFX but I changed it at the last minute.
Posted Aug 16, 2009 5:58 pm PT
not that i played FF X, but how much water is it in the game?

and the game world is mostly water, so it still has a giant role. i mean, the item that gives the game it's title is mostly used to change the wind direction so you can use the boat to go from island to island
Posted Aug 16, 2009 6:01 pm PT
Thanks for answering my comment on Bioshock.
Posted Aug 16, 2009 6:03 pm PT
@BrunoBRS:FFX uses around the same amount of water as Wind Waker, they are on a boat a lot less, but almost the whole entire game including the main c haracters sword are made of water. The main bad guy is a giant sea monster, the character is a star in a game called blitzball that takes place in a globe of water. and the fact is that the amount it uses the water is what got it on this list, but it is not as uniquely or used as much as the other 4.

@monkeymoose5000:sorry about that I do hate Bioshock but I still appreciate it, just like I dont like Mario Galaxy but I still appreciate that it is a great game.
Posted Aug 16, 2009 6:18 pm PT
Nice list.

Also no at most innovative Mario game, that would probably be Mario 64 or original SMB since they were brand new for their time. =P

great list you got there never played Mario sunshine but it does look quite different to other mario games, endless ocean was good and well, Wind Waker is just amazing. Never played ecco, and Bioshocks great aswell, but i find it a bit weak
Posted Aug 17, 2009 7:00 am PT
@Shy_Guy_Red:lol I meant it innovated the mario formula, the games that created that formula dont count xD
@Joeker96:lol you should play Ecco, its amazing. I think you can pick it up on VC. or if you dont have a wii theres this awesome game for 20 bucks on 360 and PS3 you can pick up called Sonics Ultimate Genesis COllection that has it on there.
Posted Aug 17, 2009 8:01 am PT
Interesting list, I never heard of #2 for the Wii. And good choice for number 1 as well.
Posted Aug 17, 2009 9:24 am PT
lol If I were you, I'd put Wave Race 64 instead of Sunshine.
Posted Aug 17, 2009 10:13 am PT
@sanim02:I didnt want to include any racing games because I felt that that was a cheap way for them to get water to work. THat game coulda worked well enough if they made it in any other environment.
Posted Aug 17, 2009 10:38 am PT
Cool..... But what about Twilight Princess, that is an amazing Zelda game!!!!!
Posted Aug 17, 2009 6:53 pm PT
@xplode_77:please show me how the whole entire game of Twilight Princess revolved around water in any way shape or form. other then fishing the game was all land based.
Posted Aug 17, 2009 6:58 pm PT
Great read, Endless Ocean looks really cool.
Posted Aug 17, 2009 8:47 pm PT
I did'nt mean it as a water game, you said that the wind waker is the last great Zelda, I disagree
Posted Aug 18, 2009 10:26 am PT
@xplode_77:I said the last one on the gamecube, twilight princess was a multiplat on the gamecube and wii, that is why I said arguably last.
Posted Aug 18, 2009 1:19 pm PT
BioShock is awesome - I just wrote a review for it today.
